QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 08:20 PM) The Band and CCR aren't southern rock, thoug they have country and bluesy southern influences to be sure. They were each considered southern rock in a Rock 'n Roll class I took last semester, so I've considered them that.

    Whos on Myspace?

QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Feb 13, 2007 -> 06:44 AM) Yes I'm on board with Facebook over MySpace, just looks a lot more professional. ^

The Band deserves more respect in this poll, as do the Allman Brothers. They put Skynard to shame..
  4. I wanted to go over Spring Break, but alas, a lack of funds has set me back. Hopefully next year
  5. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 12, 2007 -> 09:48 AM) They were one of the worst Super Bowl teams in the history of the event. No other team has come out and been as embarrassing as this years Bears team since the '85 Patriots. It's been discussed that nearly all teams that made the AFC Playoffs would have been beaten the Bears; outside of Kansas City, I might agree. The Bears are who I thought they were. A team that was successful in the worst division in the league and also the worst conference in the league. I usually feel sorry when people gang up on you in threads, but when you post something like this.. really, I feel no pity.
  6. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Feb 9, 2007 -> 12:38 PM) Buy fan. Turn on fan. Get in front of fan. Put on clothes. Ignore fan, ignore heat. Save money. Btw, we hit double digits today for the first time since February 1st.. it seemed way too warm.
  7. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 11:53 PM) You can approach everyone, its not like guys commit after one day. Its just after a guy commits you should respect it. Obviously there are guys that waver on there commitment and that is there right but I don't think you should have guys whispering in there ear (at least collegiate coaches) telling them to dump the commit and join your program. I think that these coaches respect their commitment, and simply give the recruits something to think about. For example, say that player A commits to Iowa, but Brewster/whomever comes up and says "Iowa is a good school.. but think about this:", and lists the reasons why that player should come to Minnesota/wherever. I don't know if this is exactly what happens, I'm not well versed in this sort of thing, but is that so wrong?
  8. QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:59 PM) That's a photoshop job. And a poor one at that, especially if it were meant to really trick the viewer.
  9. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 11:35 PM) Brewster is in a bit different of a situation though but still I just am not a fan of it and I realize some programs do it but why not do it like Ferentz does where you don't actively go after him, however, if the player approaches you than you consider it fair game. Because then, if you aren't a big name or from a big name school, you won't get any big prospects. By approaching everyone, you are spreading more seeds (figuratively of course ), and the more seeds you spread, the more trees you are likely to have.
  10. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:57 PM) I'm a huge ND fan too but Weis is a f***ing prick when it comes to recruiting. The guy knows no limits when it comes to going after guys that have already comitted. He went as far as saying telling guys that had recruited to Iowa that..."commitment is just a word" (making it sound like nothing at all). Real freaking brilliant. Its the problem with pro coaches that go to college (and Carrol is 10 times worse than Weis when it comes to going after guys that have signed with other schools) they haven't been around the recruiting and as such they just don't give a s*** and have no respect. From what I understand, Tim Brewster has been doing the same, but I have no problem with it. He's in a situation where to get the top prospects, he needs to recruit them to no end, regardless of how they stand.

    The Office

QUOTE(3E8 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:24 PM) When/how did Toby get that hot chick? "the gym", as tonight episode said QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:22 PM) I agree. It was uncomfortable to watch at times. Yep, definitely.
  12. QUOTE(santo=dorf @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 10:10 PM) for the people talking about bundling up for winter, just how eactly do I bundle my face up , without looking goofy, but more importantly, it doesn't protect my eyes (no, I won't wear ski goggles to work either. Either wear a scarf or one of those facemask things, neither of which make you look goofy. I don't know why you are concerned about looking goofy though.. looks should be the last thing that matter when you (and everyone else around you for that matter) are just trying to stay warm. I don't really have problems with my face or eyes being too cold, and I don't wear anything (other than my glasses) on them.
  13. I thought it was definitely supposed to be a "phallic symbol" when I watched it, as did everyone else in the room I was in. Still funny
  14. QUOTE(Iwritecode @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 03:02 PM) When it's 10 below and you go outside at all (unless absolutely necessary) you need therapy. Pfft.. it's been in the negatives for a few weeks here... hasn't stopped me from going outside. It's fine.. just put on enough clothes. I don't even wear that much, but its fine for me. I wear a hat, gloves, undershirt, shirt, sweatshirt, coat, jeans/sweatpants (depends on the day), normal winter socks, and sneakers and I'm fine. I just don't think of the cold and concentrate on other things, and it's fine. Hell, its nice out with that on, and I'm plenty comfortable.
  15. QUOTE(Chisoxfn @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 05:35 PM) Iowa really needs this win tonight. They are coming off a great week and at mid-season are 4th in the conference and actually have some hopes of a tourney bid if they can finish strong. The key to that will start tonight against Minny. A loss here and they are probably toast (barring them going undefeated or something the rest of the way). meh.. Haluska refused to miss anything tonight... spoiled Spencer Tollackson's best game basically. Oh well.. at least we've got the Floyd of Rosedale
  16. QUOTE(Felix @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:24 PM) Just for the record, Iowa's going DOWN tomorrow T-Minus 1:50 (give or take..)
  17. Considering the fact that I've dealt with it over this winter (although I don't know what "gusty winds" are considered), I'd take -10 below plus the wind. It's really not that bad if you just put enough clothes on, and then I think its pretty nice (although I do say otherwise when the wind hits my unclothed face). Plus, really hot weather sucks. Cold weather ftw
  18. QUOTE(dwalteroo @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 08:14 PM) I thought Palehose 6 was hilarious. It's definitely subtle humor, but his characterizations of the Sox (and even Hawk and DJ) are great. I love that they are in space now. I think it started out good, but really lost a lot as the year went on. Just my thoughts though.. I know a lot of people really liked it throughout the year.
  19. I'd take Oden, and I don't think its really that close. In terms of the NBA, a dominating big man (or potential dominating big man) plays such as larger role in the course of a season than a player like Durant. He's got the size and definitely the talent to do so, so I'd much rather him than Durant, although Durant is still a hell of a player.
  20. QUOTE(redandwhite @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 07:20 PM) I saw this in another thread. Can anyone explain it? I'm not familiar with this guys blog. It started out last year as the Palehose 6, which was a pirate ship. It was pretty funny to start, but got old quick, although it had the occasional funny one. My expectations aren't too high for the Palehose 7.
  21. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 12:44 PM) what has the world come to when Aaron Harang getting 9.125 million per season is a deal? we can soooo kiss Mark Buehrle goodbye. Yes, how dare he have back to back years with an ERA below 4 and 200+ innings. This is a pretty good deal for the Reds, especially considering Harangs age.
  22. 1.000/1.000/1.000 with 52 stolen bases, but still hated by Soxtalk members for his poor defense/arm.
  23. It was pretty clear that Brewster was going to decommit to Illinois when Tim Brewster answered a question about it by saying, "Well, he's here now... isn't he?" And I, as a Gopher fan, am pretty damn happy about it (especially with his other son coming out next year as a top safety in the nation IIRC)
