  1. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 04:57 PM) LOL, the talk here was Tubby to Oregon and Ben Jacobson to Minnesota. Yeah, that will never, ever happen. Tubby isn't leaving.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 04:36 PM) Any truth to Tubby Smith being all but out the door? None whatsoever.
  3. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 04:29 PM) LOL really? He took the starters out at the 2 min mark, big deal. Be happy your team made a good run in the tourney. He took them out with ~1:30 to go, despite having a comfortable 20+ point lead with 4+ minutes to go. Rather than resting his players, he decided to curbstomp the Gophers and teabag them afterward. It's life, and it's certainly his decision to make, but it really sums up why every other team in the Big 10 thinks Thad Matta is a prick.
  4. This isn't meant to be sour grapes (or anything along those lines), but am I the only one that thinks OSU was being fairly classless this game by keeping their starters in while up 20+ points with like 3 minutes to go? I try not to root for injuries to players, but I certainly wouldn't shed a tear if they had been seriously injured.
  5. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 04:07 PM) Minnesota has no answers for OSU. They have too many offensive options. Nice run for the Gophers in the tourney, but four games in four days is tough for anyone, especially when you play the 3 co-champions all in a row. I still think we should be in the NCAAs, but I guess it's out of our hands now.
  6. QUOTE (Felix @ Mar 14, 2010 -> 03:51 PM) Time for another answer. We can't let this get out of hand. Or not
  7. Time for another answer. We can't let this get out of hand.
  8. Great job answering the mini-run by OSU here. Let's keep this up.
  9. We're playing like s*** so far, but OSU hasn't really done anything to pull away. Hopefully we'll start limiting these mistakes and actually executing on offense.
  10. A friend of mine (Twins fan) put it this way: suppose the Twins are spending $100 million on their payroll and dedicate $25 million to Mauer. That leaves $75 million for the other 24 players on their team, which they had no problem doing when they were pretending to be a small market. So why would it be a problem now? There's no excuse for them not to sign Mauer. They have the money and he wants to stay. They just need to get it done now.
  11. QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 01:50 PM) Isn't the Twins owner very wealthy (in MLB owner terms) and just doesn't spend as much on payroll...or am I thinking of someone else? This is very true. The Twins aren't in a small market, but their penny pinching owners essentially made them one. Now that the dad is dead (sounds like a harsh thing to say, but it's true) and they have a new ballpark and get the full revenue out of it, they'll start spending more on their team. There's no reason for them not to spend ~90-100 million on their team on a relatively consistent basis.
  12. I think we're in too, but I'd still like a win tomorrow to make sure. I don't trust leaving it in the committee's hands.
  13. Woooo! Now let's take care of business tomorrow.
  14. Ok. I feel confident saying this one is over. Bring on Ohio State!
  15. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 05:11 PM) I'll say this under ESPN"s ridiculous eye test, both Minny and Illinois look a lot better than teams they are being mentioned with. We're playing far better than we did most of the year. Joseph is really playing very well, as is Sampson/Iverson/Bostick. If we played like this all season long, there wouldn't be a doubt if we were in the tourney.
  16. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:54 PM) (Because the tourney committee head let it slip a bit that they were watching the OSU/Illinois game). I'm sure they watch every game. They wouldn't be doing their job properly if they didn't.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:26 PM) Moore would have to score 30 in the 2nd half for Purdue to have a chance. I'm not counting that out quite yet. I've watched these Gophers all season
  18. Damnit.. they reached double digits for the first half. 37-11 going into the break. Obviously we aren't going to shoot 62% all game, and they aren't going to shoot 19%, but if we blow this, heads should roll.
  19. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Mar 13, 2010 -> 04:15 PM) I said it last year and turned out to be wrong, but I think it's very possible that the Big 10 won't have a single team in the Sweet 16. Fully agreed. Michigan State really isn't that good, and Purdue without Hummell is very beatable. The only hope the Big 10 has is Ohio State, but it depends on their bracket.
  20. 6 minutes to go.. 24-4. Seriously. What. the. f***.
