  1. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 29, 2009 -> 12:00 AM) I watch a ton of Jazz games and the more I watch Boozer the more I hate him as a basketball player. The Jazz are lucky they have the Knicks first round pick in this upcoming draft. Maybe they can finally get Deron Williams a real supporting cast. I love the Jazz, but that's pretty damn clear at this point. Deron really needs some help. On another note, the Wolves won today on a buzzerbeater. It was f***ing awesome. We aren't going to be good this year, but we're headed in the right direction for sure and it's going to be fun watching this team come together over the next few years.
  2. QUOTE (BigEdWalsh @ Oct 27, 2009 -> 04:43 PM) 10. Family Affair = Sly & The Family Stone Awesome. Sly and the Family Stone is fantastic.
  3. It's cool. We don't need people to believe, we just need them to watch
  4. Talking Heads - Heaven Neutral Milk Hotel - Communist Daughter Black Sabbath - Am I Going Insane? The Rolling Stones - Carol ACDC - Thunderstruck Buckethead - Jordan Grand Funk Railroad - Heartbreaker Neil Young - Expecting to Fly Jefferson Airplane - Crown of Creation Wolf Parade - Soldier's Grin I can't say this gives an accurate representation of my music taste, but I'm not one to argue with the shuffle god.
  5. The other various teasers they have on youtube have gotten me pretty excited as well: Basically, I'm going to be listening to all of these teasers (and New Fang) a bunch in the upcoming weeks until the full album comes out. November 17th can't come soon enough
  6. QUOTE (JuiceCruz16 @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) Possible, but I don't see how Purdue will take a step back. With Moore, Hummel, and Johnson as seasoned juniors they should be very tough to deal with. 1a. Michigan State 1b. Purdue Fairly big drop off 3. Michigan 4. Ohio State 5. Illinois 6. Wisconsin 7. Minnesota 8. Penn State 9. Northwestern 10. Indiana 11.Iowa Wow. While I realize the Big 10 is a very improved conference, I think you're drunk if you think Wisconsin and Ohio State are going to end up better than Minnesota this year. We've got a legit chance to be third in the conference and make some serious noise in the NCAA Tournament. We return 9 players from last year after losing a couple of dead weights (Abu-Shamala, Payton, Williams) and adding a legit top 15 recruiting class (White, Williams, Cobbs, Mbakwe [assuming he plays]). Add in the development of our freshman big men from last year, and we're going to be a very, very dangerous team this year.
  7. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Oct 26, 2009 -> 11:11 AM) Hey, I like that. From the little bit of QOTSA I've encountered, I can hear that coming through, and Grohl sounds like he's having fun banging it out. As always, John Paul Jones is understated on bass. Hopefully there aill be some album cuts that let him shine on keyboards. I've really gotten into QotSA (and the various side projects) in the last few months, so I'm fairly excited for this album. This single seems pretty poppy compared to some of their live stuff that's on YouTube, which makes sense since it's their first single. I can only imagine there are going to be some tracks where Grohl's drumming is more featured (ala Songs for the Deaf), which I personally can't wait for. I'm not so sure if John Paul Jones is going to be on the keyboard at all, but I've heard that he's played the citar in some of their live shows. Hopefully that makes an appearance on the album. It's been a long time since I've actually preordered an album, but I'm certainly going to be doing that with this one.
  8. Them Crooked Vultures released their first single today: All I can say is that I can't wait for the album to be released. It doesn't get much better than Josh Homme, Dave Grohl and John Paul Jones in the same band.
  9. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 03:39 PM) Shhhhhhh, dont show this to the ISU fans.undefined Mid-majors just don't get any respect. National publications like Sports Illustrated are too busy getting paid off by the big name schools to make a real list. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 03:33 PM) They only need Osiris. He can go 1 on 5 and take em to the Final Four. It's the fro-hawk, really. On a serious note, he looks like a massive tool.
  10. QUOTE (Jimbo's Drinker @ Oct 23, 2009 -> 01:03 PM) oh boy here we go with the Ill St. man crush. They easily have the best backcourt in the nation, and if you don't recognize that you're just a hater. Hater.
  11. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Oct 22, 2009 -> 03:25 PM) On a side note, Deadspin sucks. Daluerio has run that place into the ground, and him posting all of those rumors about other people cheating and/or sleeping to the top just because he's bitter he had the scoop on Phillips and wasn't able to find enough backup to post it is lame. Even if they turn out to be true (and with some of the stories a friend of mine who worked at ESPN has told me, they probably are and then some), just throwing crap against the wall and hoping it sticks is an example of why blogs like that get made fun of because that is even a step below TMZ trash, only this is sports not Hollywood. Fact. I miss the days when Deadspin was actually funny and worth reading, but those days left with Leitch. It's trash now.
  12. One of our incoming freshman at Tubby's Tipoff. Needless to say, he's pretty athletic
  13. QUOTE (iamshack @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 09:45 PM) Thanks for linking that. That was very humorous. Posnanski is a great writer. I strongly suggest checking out his blog regularly if you liked that. His posts are generally pretty long, but they are almost always very entertaining to read.
  14. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 06:11 PM) I disagree. Players who have played the game at the highest level have a much better grasp on who plays the game well than a bunch of people staring at the TV or looking down from a press box. Until you have actually played at the highest level, you will never know as much about the actual game IMO. You might not know how to actually play the game, but that doesn't mean you can't evaluate talent or seasons. Just because Jim Rice played baseball for some 16 years doesn't mean he knows players and talent better than people who have never picked up a baseball. Players are so self-involved that they tend to believe their eyes more than numbers, and frankly that leads to some really stupid things being said. Hell, just look at the new generation of GMs that are getting hired without ever having played the game of baseball. Rather than playing ball, they went to school to get a degree. Does this mean they know less than every GM that is a former player? Of course not.
  15. QUOTE (balfanman @ Oct 20, 2009 -> 05:03 PM) I just don't understand why a group of writers, most of whom have never played organized sports at a very high level, would vote opposite of the people who actually play the game. It's a free country, and I fully support that everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but why is their opinioned valued more highly than the players themselves? My profession has absolutely nothing to do with sports, however I would value the opinion of my peers over those who know very little about what I do. I can't tell if you're joking or not, but just because someone plays the game doesn't mean they know it better. Hell, half the time it blinds them from reality because they're too full of their own opinion to actually think about something logically. Congrats to Beckham though. He's probably not the most deserving candidate, but I'll be damned if he isn't the most awesome.
  16. QUOTE (Brian @ Oct 12, 2009 -> 07:41 PM) Maroon Madness Friday! Tubby's Tipoff is Friday too. We've got high hopes in Minnesota after losing worthless players and gaining a highly touted recruiting class. I can't wait for the season to begin.
  17. QUOTE (whitesoxfan99 @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 06:13 PM) Also, why the f*** does Chip Caray still have a job and how the hell is he considered a good enough announcer to do playoff games? http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/media/video...tent_id=7017529 "LINE DRIVE, BASE HIT! CAUGHT OUT THERE! RUNNER TAGS, HERE HE COMES, THROW TO THE PLATE, ON TARGET AND IN TIME!!!!!!" Simply one of the worst calls I've ever heard.
  18. It was a tough decision, but I've decided I'm rooting for the Yankees. I don't feel clean at all, but f*** the Twins. I hope they get murdered.
  19. QUOTE (chw42 @ Oct 7, 2009 -> 03:41 PM) Zobrist's value is in his versatility, his offensive numbers are not as good as Mauer's. His offensive numbers aren't quite as good as Mauer's, but he did tie Teixeira for the third highest OPS in the league while having the fourth highest OBP (he also was third with a 144 OPS+, albeit 33 points behind Mauer). Add in his fantastic defense at both 2B and RF and you've got yourself a pretty valuable player.
  20. QUOTE (MattZakrowski @ Oct 6, 2009 -> 08:48 PM) I think Mauer's would be higher if they could measure Catcher defense. No doubt. But the type of year Zobrist has had is still pretty impressive, considering how little he gets talked about by the media.
  21. QUOTE (Milkman delivers @ Oct 5, 2009 -> 08:08 PM) Since Joe Mauer deserves it, Justin Morneau should win it. You know, historical precedent and all. winner!
  22. He actually had the highest WAR in baseball, tied with Pujols. His defense was pretty damn good at 2B and RF, but it's still tough to make a case for him over Mauer.
  23. Mauer should be the only one with votes. There is no logical case that can be made for any other player in the AL.
