QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 17, 2009 -> 05:40 PM) I swear to God Ozzie shows his management style so much better when managing NL games. Why can't we do risky, force the hand s*** when we're in the Cell? He does. The players just don't execute most of the time. Today was a day when guys executed, and, of course, that makes the manager look smart.

Quentin "one bad step" from being lost for season

I thought ptatc said that the surgery was not a guarantee to help? Maybe not. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 01:08 PM) I know its not hard to simulcast, but like you said a station has to simulcast for you. this chicago webio is trying to get by on Monsters in the Morning and everything else is just on the internet. That aint gonna work(especially considering how bad MITM is) There's no question that they jumped the technology, but I think it could have worked if they had people any anyone wanted to hear. Which they didn't.

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ Jun 16, 2009 -> 12:04 PM) Until they figure out that they have to simulcast on an actual radio station, its never going to get off the ground. People want to listen to stuff like sportstalk while driving to work Eventually you will have internet in your car.

He's a 4th outfielder. Considering the lack of options right now due to injuries, and his defense, I'd say he is the least of my concerns.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 11:40 PM) An unfortunate circumstance in a hypothetical scenario which came true. We're better off. Admit it. Doesn't look like it would have happened, but who know, it could have been slowly developing. SI

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 09:48 PM) Not really sure why we took out Clayton... was his pitch count really that high? If anything, we should have put Clayton at first and put Dotel in for Fields... and the sad part is, I'm only half joking. Over 100 -

Gobble is up. Meaning Ozzie will never let Poreda pitch. -

Can someone buy ARam a smaller glove? He's gonna get Getz killed. -
QUOTE (PlaySumFnJurny @ Jun 12, 2009 -> 09:32 AM) No, although I used to. I stopped because I was told its a waste of money unless your hair is especially long, curly, or wavy, and that the so-called combination "shampoo plus conditioners" are snake oil. My hair's short but thick, and I never noticed any difference after I stopped. My hair is short, but thin textured. There is a noticeable difference between using just shampoo and shampoo + conditioner. Without conditioner my hair becomes difficult to style.

Holmes announced that he will be doing the Me show again at night.

Yes. And he has a back problem. So if he plays he is almost guaranteed to get injured.

Apparently he was wearing fishnets and a wig. LA Times

QUOTE (BearSox @ Jun 11, 2009 -> 03:35 AM) Did anyone even think Fields had a chance to make contact in the final AB? I thought it might be wise to take him out and put someone in who might have a chance to hit Verlander, but after thinking about, letting Fields look completely overmatched will let him know why he was benched. I thought he had a chance to walk until Verlander accidentally threw a fastball over the plate and realized Fields had no shot. But Ozzie seems to trying to be consistent in letting the young guys succeed or fail without getting subbed. At the beginning of the season he probably puts someone else in there, but he's letting it play out now.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 08:52 PM) That's the scary thing. If he's going down, he's going down with his veterans. I'd probably feel the same way. Remember he was given a lot of young players who haven't been good (Fields, Getz, Lilly, Owens, BA). Now he has more young guys coming and Beckham hasn't hit. They got Pods, and he's been good. He wants production. But frankly there is a fundamental rift between KW and Oz (I think) going on right now. Ozzie is rapidly becoming Dusty. Can't turn your back on Wise, dude. Meanwhile, KW is looking at getting into position for next year. Even Peavy wasn't about winning now, necessarily. This might only make things worse.

QUOTE (elrockinMT @ Jun 9, 2009 -> 09:09 PM) On field delay what's going on? Benches cleared. -
Kinda strange. I assume he is going to be a LOOGY for now. Thornton has essentially become the set up man, or at least, more than a LOOGY. Poreda doesn't come off as a long man with his stuff, and this staff doesn't really need one so he wouldn't get enough work.

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 8, 2009 -> 10:32 PM) Of course he's been lucky...he has the flare over the 2nd baseman's head down to a science. He's hit about 5 balls very hard all season. Well it's interesting because I keep seeing posts about how he's been better lately (which was like 1 good week). According to his stats, he was simply making contact and getting lucky. That's not a recipe for continued success.
-
Turns out that Fields has a babip of .333 this season. So not only has be been bad, but he has actually been very lucky when he makes contact. So he's actually has the ability to be worse.
