  1. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 12:07 PM) Cool. Thanks. I was thinking about getting something to do audio editing for a radio show, so I probably should go with something that has some RAM to it, huh? Yeah probably. I don't know a ton about netbooks or about audio editing, but a quick glance at the specs on BestBuy.com tells me that most have 1GB of RAM and run an Atom processor, which might not be capable of handling more RAM. In any event, I'd guess 1 GB of RAM isn't enough to do serious editing, and the Atom processor is built to be small, not to be blazing fast. Also, you might need better audio cards and more device inputs and outputs. Netbooks are fairly basic to keep costs down.
  2. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 31, 2009 -> 11:17 AM) Dumb question.. what is the difference between a netbook and a laptop? A netbook is nothing more than a small, light weight laptop that is designed for internet access and little else. Of course, today's netbooks probably have more power than my 4 year old laptop.
  3. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Dec 30, 2009 -> 11:42 PM) Well, the Mrs. and I just returned from an honest-to-goodness Beervannah experience. A new local beer bar with a phenomenal selection (300+ bottles and drafts) tapped a 30-litre gravity-draw wood cask of 12% Aventinus Weizen-Eisbock and we were on hand for the first several rounds of the evening. What a phenomenal beer! I love this new bar. Wow! That eisbock knocks me on my ass, but I would LOVE to try it on cask. Might mellow out the alcohol which I always found overpowering in the bottled version. 300 beers sounds like a lot, but let's face it, you've probably had them all
  4. QUOTE (3E8 @ Nov 15, 2009 -> 11:29 AM) I'm going to a Beersmas celebration in a couple weeks where we share bottled beer as presents and drink all day. Do any of you have a recommendation for a specific beer good for this season or brewery in general? So what did you end up having?

QUOTE (Brian @ Dec 26, 2009 -> 05:32 PM) The movie isn't that great. The last 40 minutes save it. Up until then, it seems the audience is left in the dark about what Holmes is doing. That's exactly how the books are.
  6. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 11:42 AM) Did you use the quotes? yep
  7. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Dec 24, 2009 -> 02:03 AM) Maybe Google knew more than I thought it did. Didn't fake this: Didn't happen when I just did it. Maybe they know I don't believe.
  8. Here's a little reminder about alcohol and driving, but with a nod to craft beer and higher ABV's. If y'all are driving, it's something to keep in mind. Ratebeer
  9. Every single one of you has angered and disappointed me in the last year. Meanwhile, I have no job, no prospects, no conceivable reason for getting out of bed in the morning (except to get the daily news) probably because this WHOLE UNIVERSE IS AGAINST ME! But because I'm not a sack of crap, I have decided to get all of you a present: Now. On to the feats of strength.
  10. What's interesting about this is that the Yankees are bringing him back under the same conditions the Sox brought him in. Following a World Series with an apparently dominating rotation where he can eat innings at the back of the rotation and not be relied on in big games. I'm interested to see how this goes.
  11. QUOTE (Jenks Heat @ Dec 23, 2009 -> 09:02 AM) I hate the drake...random Seinfeld reference not ripping on anyone Got to love the Sein.
  12. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 02:53 PM) Javy has a career k rate of 8.1. Which seems to improve or stay stable as he gets older. His other peripherals are stable except for being slightly homer-prone. Which i'd take if a guy is going to strike me out 200 per year. Not to mention the guy averages 219 innings per year, which is good for about 34 starts. That's a damn good pitcher. I'd rather have Tyler Flowers, he had no place on the Sox, but he's a dominate K pitcher. You cannot overlook that .http://www.baseball-reference.com/players/v/vazquja01.shtml You called him a "great pitcher" but you also admit that he can't pitch in big situations. He's an innings eating enigma that fills out a rotation and has great peripherals. That doesn't make him great.
  13. QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 12:16 PM) Look at his numbers. Javy V is a great pitcher. He was great for the Sox too. Just becasue he pisses himself in big moments, doesn't make him less great, it makes him a s***ty big-game pitcher. He's going to be incredible as a 3-4 option for the Yankees. I think your definition of "great" needs some tweaking.

    What's your OCD?

QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 04:48 PM) What are you doing in your sleep? Rolling my my own filth.

    What's your OCD?

My brother has to use a new towel everyday (as in he won't use a towel twice). I have to take a shower every morning. If I wait, I feel gross. Showering at night does no good.
  16. Interestingly, this was KW's quote to the Sun-Times: link So he wanted to make a trade, and he didn't want another team getting him. The only missing piece that Boer's guy fills in is who that other team was: the Tigers.
  17. QUOTE (striker @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:53 AM) They thought a trade would be worked out instead and the Jays would have picked up part of his salary? Partially yes because KW wanted Rios in a trade. But also because they wanted to block the Tigers. Of course, the second part of the explanation makes no sense since the Tigers have no money and couldn't have afforded him.
  18. According to Terry Boers and his people, the Sox did not think they would be stuck with Rios' salary. That was unplanned.
  19. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 11:19 AM) Wow. That is incredibly low compared to the rumors. At that kind of cost, I want to see the Sox interested. Could be an indication that he is more of a project than teams initially realized. I never heard a report about how the workout went.
  20. Marlins have made a 5 year $13M offer for Chapman. Link
  21. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 08:05 AM) I think they mean those typewriter thingies that had little liquid crystal screens so you could erase and delete and what not... This thing?
  22. I don't understand the "word processor" choice. Isn't Word a word processor? Doesn't everyone use it? Or did I just make some old people cry?
  23. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 21, 2009 -> 05:46 AM) You sure that's the booze, and not the fact that you're an attorney? I kid, G&T, I kid... I'm not just an attorney. I'm an unemployed attorney. So that's just my everyday depression, which is different than my special hangover depression.
  24. QUOTE (iamshack @ Dec 20, 2009 -> 10:26 PM) watcha getting? It's a cocker spaniel/poodle mix. Otherwise known as the cockapoo. The breed choice was my fiancee's, but I'd be lying if I said he wasn't the cutest dog ever. We bring him home on January 2.
