  1. Here is our next chapter in the Top Prospects by Position discussion. We've already done Outfielders and Skill Infielders. Now we're on Starting Pitchers. Tell us your top 10 in the system! (guys like Santiago, Axelrod and Quintana are ineligible due to innings pitched in the majors) Here's my list... 1. Erik Johnson 2. Simon Castro 3. Scott Snodgress 4. Andre Rienzo 5. Chris Beck 6. Nestor Molina 7. Charlie Leesman 8. Brandon Brennan 9. Kyle Hansen 10. Charlie Shirek Other guys considered: Jake Petricka, Ryan Buch, Chris Bassitt, Todd Kibby How about yours?
  2. QUOTE (ewokpelts @ Oct 1, 2012 -> 07:02 AM) 2012 total attendance is down roughly 35k from 2011. The plus side is that this number was reached with a much lower sth base. Down side is that base prices were actually lower than in 2011, and that the weather was actually mych better in 2012 than 2011(only one rainout had to be made up) The STH base is the biggest key. And that should be up at least a little next year, with people buying in as they stayed in first, and buying in during August and up through mid-September to get playoff rights. And the economy slowly, every so slowly, getting a little better. But you are right about the weather, it would be hard to beat with the Sox had this year for their use. The real question is... what impact will this have on payroll next year? The Sox have the benefit of all the float on the post-season tickets money, but also, it gives them an accurate look into STH levels for next year.
  3. QUOTE (kitekrazy @ Sep 30, 2012 -> 04:36 PM) Good or bad has never had an impact for the Sox most of the time. The agent has a lot to do with it. With the new rules, this is much less true than it was. The new rules really helped out the Sox, and the 2012 draft seemed to show it.
  4. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:57 PM) What, with the Will Ohman comparison? Because Matt Thornton is truly garbage. He's actually been quite good in the 2nd half. And yeah, saying he is worse than Will Ohman... just a wee bit over the top.
  5. QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:54 PM) Thanks for coming in and putting your only batter on base. You are a true treasure. God I can't wait to kick that asshole to the curb. He's the new Will Ohman, except Ohman had stretches of being good. LOL, go over the top much?
  6. That Zobrist pitch was the exact same pitch Dunn was called out on. At least the ump is being consistent.
  7. Wow, Crain still in there? Fans now reacting to final score of DET game.
  8. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:24 PM) I think they have been setting up Wimpy returning and Stone exiting for 2 seasons. Wimpy and Hawk have found that spark again. So I assume Paciorek has forgiven Hawk then?
  9. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:29 PM) Lets go Ryan D. He doubled, Twins up 4-2.
  10. Minny with the lead run at 2nd, 1 out in the 8th, with M&M coming up.
  11. I can't put my finger on it exactly, but there has been something different about Alexei's swing plane this year than in previous years. It looks like he's trying to slice everything maybe.
  12. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:16 PM) Gardenhire left Diamond in one batter too long. Easy to say now, but it made sense at the time. He was at 85 pitches and had been mostly cruising.
  13. Well at least they got the runner over this time, on 3rd with 1 out now.
  14. QUOTE (fathom @ Sep 28, 2012 -> 09:12 PM) Really hope they go into next year with Rios batting 3rd I'd think they would. I can understand the reason not to change mid-season (though I may not agree fully with it), but starting a new season is different.
  15. Eduardo Escobar was HBP in the MIN-DET game, there was an injury delay, and he was replaced. Anyone see anything? Hope he's alright.
  16. Ugh, Stone is the guy that needs to stay. They are getting this backwards. And we continue to see the pattern here, that people just can't work with Hawk.
