  1. Cool, Murray signed, I'm going to get an AAP for Chocolate Milk Guy up soon.
  2. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 05:00 PM) They arent as backordered as they tell you, my gf has already had two in the last few weeks. If you do to an independent store they prob have them in stock. IN Yorktown they get several a day. By ordering online I got $100 off (in addition to the regular discounts for upgrading and staying with VZW, etc.), to make the phone free. I probably could have gone into a store and convinced them to give me the online discount, but I can't say for sure, and I HATE shopping in stores. I do everything possible online. And I'm not in a huge hurry, so waiting a week is really not something that concerns me (they also ship via overnight for free).
  3. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:42 PM) Y'all loves you some context, don't you? Kill Harry Reid! TAKE HIM OUT! Yea, literally! Seriously? Context? The quote, with multiple sentences that led up to that line, was posted right above your post. Did you not read it?
  4. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 06:32 PM) No, because he actually responded. It took your hero 50+ days to get even semi serious... and that took "negotiations" to take over BP. Yeah, see, there is no reasonable discussion to be had with you on this topic, if this is your line of thinking. You think Obama did NOTHING for 50 days? You think Bush doesn't have the same level of responsibility that Obama does in these semi-analagous situations? Keep up the good fight, Kap - defend those poor victim conservatives to your last posting breath!
  5. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 03:33 PM) Game starts at 6 so I'd say they have until 5 to get it up there. Stupid east coast games.
  6. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 03:03 PM) Iwamura was DFA'd today. Is there gonna be game thread? Gonzales has the lineup for tonight's game. Whomever started yesterday's thread has privilege, at least until say 6pm. Meantime, you can post the lineup here if you'd like.
  7. QUOTE (Rex Kicka** @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 03:04 PM) Republican Senate nominee and Harry Reid's crazy opponent. (Tea Party Approved) LOL Started off OK with the first sentence, then got weird, then just went off the deep end, and ended it all with a threat.
  8. QUOTE (KipWellsFan @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 03:05 PM) Sounds like a perfectly good argument for stopping this bloody deep oil drilling completely. And we seriously need to look past the President and BP's fault in this. We really need to look at ourselves. Who started using more public transit? Who started making and keeping more efficient residences? Who stopped buying fruits and vegetables from thousands of miles away? Nobody. I think we play this blame game to help us dismiss the fact that BP is really only providing a service that so many selfish individuals demand. We blame to cover up our own guilt. "It's those evil executives and politicians to blame! How could they do this!?!?! I'm so much better than them!" This is an excellent point. The best way to fix this, long term, is to do everything possible to reduce our dependence on oil going forward. Its akin to when Bush pushed the idea that the best way to fix poverty and losing high paying jobs overseas, was education. His method for doing that was an abject failure, but his overall point was spot on.
  9. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 11:26 AM) But you can say the same exact thing right after the Shadow comes out with regards to another up and coming super phone. At this current pace there's a phone that 'beats them all' coming out every 6 months. AT some point you just need to pick one out and use it until you're able to get an upgrade. Yeah, I'm not playing that game. I use a phone for a few years, its starts to get beat up, I'm eligible for a free or very cheap upgrade, then i go and get the best phone I can at that time.
  10. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 12:21 PM) When did I say they were criminally negligent? They f***ed up majorly. Kap did, multiple times, and you chimed in agreement. And I've said before, yes, they f***ed up majorly.
  11. QUOTE (Jenksismyb**** @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 10:34 AM) Agree with that fixed. (Pretty f'n hilarious how that's the EXACT same crap that was going on 4 years ago, only with the sides switched) And btw, just to clarify, you can't be "criminally negligent." Negligence is a civil tort. Criminal you have to violate a law. I disagree with Kap that Obama was negligent, but I do think his response was pretty pathetic (and equally bad as Katrina). In reality, is there anything more he could (or should) have done regarding the leak itself? No. That's all on BP. But it should not have taken him 2 months to get "pissy" about it and use his powers as President to force the issue. He's also made some pretty retarded statements which shows he's not the savior everyone wanted/wants him to be, e.g., saying he wouldn't meet with BP leaders. Also, his speech last night was a bunch of fluff BS. ZERO substance, as per usual. He's a great idealist, unfortunately he hasn't a clue how to achieve the goals he promises. And it's awesome that he's going to set up an independent third party to mediate all the claims BP is going to be forced to pay. I could have sworn we had one of those (the court system), but apparently he'd rather have a politically led committee hand out money to people based on Obama's terms, not the law. Remember though, Republicans=evil corporate lackeys!! You can be criminally negligent. For example, a doctor or other medical professional can be negligent to the extent that criminal prosecution occurs. It happens. But I agree with your overall points.
  12. Ordered a Droid HTC Incredible about a week ago, supposed to ship on 6/22. I'm psyched, the reviews look great. Currently have a Blackberry Curve on Verizon. Verizon has been good, other than the complete B.S. they pull with the GPS chip (which won't be an . But I grew tired of the BB RIM OS, plus its 3 years old and the phone is beat to s***.
  13. QUOTE (Jerksticks @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 09:22 AM) I understand your points, but I don't think any Sox fan would argue Alexei's production or contract. It's all gravy. But we've sacrificed defense big time this year to put Gordo at 2B, where I don't think he looks comfortable at all yet. Now we're stuck with Teahen's crappy D at 3rd, and it's not like Teahen is this great power 3B that fulfills typical power 3b production anyway. Beckham was awesome at 3B. Now he's rotting away at the most useless position in baseball where teams stick their crappiest infielders. We need us a real Third Baseman, and hopefully we get it for next year. Who is it? And any of you guys who say 3B must be a power, plus-bat position, then you have absolutely no right to ever suggest Morel. Amazingly, despite the presence of Teahen and Nix at 3B, this team has been above average defensively this season.
  14. QUOTE (Heads22 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 09:28 AM) An 18 year contract sure seems long. Either way, ISU still stands to nearly double its conference revenue, which means they can get off of state money and be self sufficient. Wait, what? When I was at ISU, the athletic department had to be self-sustaining financially, not drawing any money it couldn't produce. Is that not the case anymore? Also, maybe the added money will mean ISU can get baseball back again.
  15. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 09:03 AM) http://www.rollingstone.com/politics/news/17390/111965 Yeah, like I said, lots of people knew. ObamaCo certainly knew, or should have known, the extent, pretty quickly. Their response was abysmal all around.
  16. QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 01:42 AM) Oh yes, you know me oh so well. I'm thinking Jeremy Hellickson or Desmond Jennings. Maybe even both. Not as much hype with him, but I still cannot believe that Kila is in AAA. He's fallen back a bit, and his slash line is now just .327/.502/.586/1.089. 502 f***ing OBP - the pitchers in AAA are just not even pitching to him, he's doing this with no lineup protection. He's also got 58 BB against just 39 K. He's got to come up soon. Did he sleep with the GM's daughter or something?
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 08:48 AM) NOAA knew about it hours after it happened on April 22nd. Knew there was a spill? Sure, so did the media and a lot of other people.
  18. QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 11:01 PM) Geez I don't watch alot of Cub games, but I don't think I've seen their defense this bad all season. Saw somewhere recently, the Cubs have allowed more unearned runs than all but one other team this year. Their defense has been pretty bad. Castro is going through growing pains, Aramis has always been inconsistent and now the subs over there are worse, the outfield D speaks for itself... Lee is usually decent though, errors on consecutive plays is surprising.
  19. QUOTE (lostfan @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 11:36 PM) Go with mutual funds, stocks are dangerous for everyday people to be playing with for anything more than a hobby. I'll agree but modify slightly - mutual funds or ETF's. ETF's are nice because they give you the diversification of mutual funds, but without the load. Single stock picking is asking for trouble. And as for where to get mutual funds... any brokerage you go to, including optionshouse.com, will allow you to trade both ETF's and mutual funds. You don't need to go to a special place for them. Do some research - there is all kinds of useful data available for free out there. You can even see zone charts for mutual funds and ETF's that show the dynamic of risk vs reward, showing a heat map of where in that graph each fund sits. So decide BEFORE you pick something - where are you in the graph? Higher or lower on the risk axis (longer or shorter return period), higher or lower reward.
  20. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 09:24 PM) Oh, the ironies of this post with a t w I S T of two years ago. The difference is, this guy is blowing it hard core and is still loved by the masses. The part you all want to gloss over is HE KNEW how bad this was day 3 - that's when all the offers of help started pouring in. What was he doing on day three? Flying on AFOne b****ing about AZ immigration and bashing Republicans for taking in part of the violence tendencies that this law was introducing. Negligence, baby. Barack Obama is 100% negligent. Period-io. So I'd expect that if I look back to 2005, I'd see you spouting off in here about Bush being criminally negligent as well, right?
  21. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 11:38 PM) A few people said the same thing a year ago when he was putting up better numbers in Low A. His stats say he should be pushed, but that doesn't mean it will happen. He's doing pretty much what I figured he'd do this year - still a very low walk rate, still a very high K rate but not as spectacularly high, GO/AO improved, but his core numbers (ERA, WHIP) are slightly worse. All expected with his jump. The key with Dan, given his numbers are as expected, is velocity - the organization wanted to see him turn his 89 FB into 92 if possible. With his superb control and good breaking stuff, adding a few clicks to the fastball could make him a devastating pitcher. I'd love to know if he's made any progress in that area. If he has, by all means, move the man along. Jeez, I just saw, he's struck out 12 in his last 6 innings of work. QUOTE (ChiSox_Sonix @ Jun 16, 2010 -> 07:04 AM) What? I asked him that last week, its this weird nickname for viciedo that he's been using, he can explain it.
  22. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 08:44 PM) Source: http://legal-dictionary.thefreedictionary.com/negligence Barack Obama has departed from the conduct expected of the chief executive of the United States. Barack Obama had a duty to protect this country and has failed to do so. Again, he KNEW how bad this was and chose to ignore it. He has caused great harm to the United States of America by his failure to act. By legal defintion, he is negligent. Now, is there a case here? Absolutely not. There is a difference. Just as there is not a case here against Tony Hayward personally, but you bet your ass he's technically negligent as well. This isn't "impeachment" or any other such bulls***, I'm not saying that. But I AM saying he's negligent, and laws were broken. show me how any laws were broken. show me how he deviated from expected conduct of the President. Show me anything of any substance. Please.
  23. QUOTE (kapkomet @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 07:25 PM) Well, the conspiracy nut that I am says that this was sabotage. But, that's not what I meant. What I mean is, by knowing what they knew when they knew it (the White House and Barack Obama specifically) they are negligent because they allowed what was an otherwise avoidable situation manifest into what this is. That's negligence, and a criminal act by definition. Obvously, the office of the president can't be sued, and in that capacity, he can't be sued, but he sure as hell should be. He's got just as much slimey oil on his hands as BP now. In the beginning, of course not... but now, absolutely. Because, frankly, 3 days into this, they knew how big this was, and BP AND the White House were playing a big game of CYA. You and Jas are just off your rockers on this. Seriously. You've seen me post here that ObamaCo is pretty much as bad as BushCo was on Katrina... but criminally negligent? The President? Just as responsible? Not enough LOL'ers in the world for that. BP was indeed criminally negligent, as we have clearly seen. What ObamaCo has been, much like BushCo after Katrina, is managerially and administratively inept in the extreme. That, I don't see how anyone could argue.
  24. QUOTE (justBLAZE @ Jun 15, 2010 -> 08:20 PM) I said the same thing earlier! Sorry, I admit I did not read the whole game thread before posting.
