QUOTE (lostfan @ May 29, 2009 -> 07:24 AM) I obviously disagree with the fact that he thinks waterboarding and such is the holy grail of intelligence, but Bush has been 100% class since leaving office. Unlike Cheney who somebody needs to muzzle. http://www.cnn.com/2009/POLITICS/05/29/geo...eech/index.html He's been that. His last year in office was his best. Its like he started to grow up a little. But then I never thought of Bush as some evil guy - I just thought he was clearly not up to the job. He was doing what he thought was right, misguided though he often was, and poor at management and execution he always was. A little bit like Carter that way I suppose. I got off track there, but I agree, Bush has handled the past year or so pretty well.

Sox feel they can hold their own in AL

QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 29, 2009 -> 08:17 AM) I think they can hold their own too, but apparently their chances arent percieved to be too good. http://www.baseballprospectus.com/statistics/ps_odds.php Wasn't it BP who constantly had laughably low % chances of us winning the division in 2005, and that after they had CLINCHED, it was still well under 100%? -
Garrett Johnson, in his first start since returning from the DL, didn't finish the third inning. Gave up 5 hits, 3 R, 2 ER in 2.2 IP, also made an error. Pulling him that early, when he had only given up 3 runs, I wonder if he's not really healthy yet. Interesting note - Mike Johnston, the guy who closed out the game for B-Ham, has Tourette's Syndrome.

QUOTE (SoxAce @ May 29, 2009 -> 12:42 AM) chisox2334 is a very credible source. (he's called two trades on this board before it was even announced if I remember) He is one of the few great ones we have. Just for the record/future of other posters before they flip out entirely. No one flipped out or anything of the sort. I was the one who called him on it, because there was no source originally. QUOTE (chisox2334 @ May 29, 2009 -> 07:20 AM) it was my fault for not posting exactly where I got it from. I am sorry for not doing that. I usually am on top of having everything thing posted from where I get it. Not a problem, thanks for adding that. We just need to be careful with posts/threads that initiate talks about rumors and what not have some sort of support to them. Otherwise, we can get into trouble. Its not about any specific poster. -
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 28, 2009 -> 05:29 PM) is planning to adopt gas mileage requirements that are far more stringent than the ones President OChinabama just announced. Gotta admit, it's a smart business move if they're looking to develop their auto industry. If the U.S. is making cars that can't legally be sold in China because they consume too much fuel, then you eliminate competition from any of those models. OChinabama?

Here is the actual source, BTW. I sent an email to the blog writer, pointing out that the guy is now on the I-Cubs, and that the Sox need another shortstop for AAA like they need a hole in their head, and that he may want to double check his info. -

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:32 AM) He got it from Mlbtraderumors.com. http://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2009/05/odds...ney-cooper.html Thanks. QUOTE YOUR SOURCES PEOPLE!!! Also, MLBTR isn't usually a source in itself, its a condenser of other people's stuff. QUOTE (JPN366 @ May 28, 2009 -> 10:44 AM) I really think he was traded to the Cubs, not the White Sox. He is listed on the Iowa Cubs roster, but hasn't played a game for them. Seems likely. I'm about ready to just close the thread. -
QUOTE (lostfan @ May 28, 2009 -> 08:54 AM) Here's my response to that: http://www.time.com/time/politics/article/...1901342,00.html Kudos for the use of the word "empretzel", which I had never even seen before.

NorthSideSox72 replied to chisox2334's topic in FutureSox Board
He has a .672 career minor league OPS, which is horrible, and the last thing the Sox need is another shortstop right now. Makes no sense. Any source on this at all? First post has no sourcing of any kind, which makes me highly skeptical. Where did you hear this? -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ May 27, 2009 -> 06:14 PM) Are they actually moving him to 3B? Is that official, or just speculation? He's been playing there on and off down on the farm.

QUOTE (flavum @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:17 PM) Charlotte has one of those 10:35 games tomorrow in Columbus. Sleep fast, Gordo. He probably won't sleep much tonight anyway. Would you?
-
QUOTE (Jenksy Cat @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:19 PM) And what the hell does that have to do with anything? It has to do with his first sentence, which has to do with Beckham's potential promotion to Chicago. seemed pretty clear to me.
-
QUOTE (Cali @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:12 PM) Anyways... Gotta hope this doesn't motivate him and Gordo is stuck in Charlotte... That may be part of the reasoning here. If Fields gets going, then you have a nice problem - too many good players at certain positions. If he fails, then Beckham is ready. You have staged Beckham for this, as well as provided further motivation for Fields to get going.

QUOTE (Nixon @ May 27, 2009 -> 03:59 PM) It's China's sphere of influence, let them deal with it. That's worked swimmingly so far. -
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 27, 2009 -> 05:02 PM) i think i have had my fill of Fields playing, and the Sox are just about at that point as well. Im not going to say bust, Im going to say it didnt work out here/needs a change of scenery. Change of scenery would probably work well. I was never a big Fields fan, but I do think that if he can play full time, he'll be a better hitter than Anderson. Again, minority opinion I am sure, but that's what I see. The wildcard problem with him though, he could get away with slumping and figuring things out if he played better defense. He's still well below average out there, which is a little under where I thought he'd be by now.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:12 PM) No I am not. Yeah huh you are!!!
-
QUOTE (Balta1701 @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:59 PM) The only way Josh Kroeger is going to see playing time with the big league squad this year is if it comes down somehow to him versus Anderson for playing time. Beckham, Alexei, Pods, Anderson, Wise, Nix, Getz, Quentin, Fields, are all in front of him for 4-5 spots. You need to wipe out at least 3 more guys, maybe more. And to be clear, the only players on that list I'd consider "wiping out" for Kroeger under any circumstances would be Wise and Pods. Others only if they are injured and they can't play.
-
QUOTE (Kalapse @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) .375/.375/.438/.813 over his last 16 PA and he's only struck out in a quarter of them! Har. He's clearly improving, I didn't say he was suddenly Mickey Mantle.
-
QUOTE (kyyle23 @ May 27, 2009 -> 04:55 PM) If BA is benched so Fields can attempt to play left, I will be a very sad panda I'd agree, I guess I am just more in favor of Pods being the 4th OF instead of Anderson. That would allow both Fields and Anderson to play.
