I think a lot of this thread needs to start in on the egg nog sooner rather than later...

If the Sox aren't going to get Harper, I kind of would like to see the Cubs get him. That would tie up a huge amount of money for a guy that doesn't really move the needle on anything they need, plus they are going to have to move some quality pieces and unbalance the team to get him. They would be much better served throwing big money at Craig Kimbrel than Bryce Harper.

I concur, if we had made this move in the Reds situation I would be pissed.

Having done it before, it is all about getting your name out there at this stage.

If they are in the final 3 with the Yankees that can only mean they have outbid them. Also to be in the final stage of teams after 100 losses means they did something to get Mannys attention. I suppose he could really be excited about our minor leaguers, but there is about a 99% chance this means we offered an obscene amount of money to him to keep his attention.

So the question really is, will Manny take less money to go to NY and if he will how much less are we talking? If it is significantly less, we never really had a chance anyway.

And just to tack on to this, we as a staff do try to give posters some room to have personalities (even if untraditional), and show some emotion at times, so it is a balancing act between a lot of freedom to be Sox fans, but still not letting this turn into a troll-infested hole on the internet. Despite the jokes otherwise, it is hard to get suspended here, and that is by design. Again the people who do this on Soxtalk are great people who put a lot of thought and effort into every decision made here.

One thing which will always get my high horse out is taking a public swing at the group who manages this page. I have known these people a lot of years, and have a lot of love for them. I am not about to let someone run them down. The report button is there for specific posts, but to say we have a moderator problem couldn't be further from the truth.

If you have a problem with the board or it's staff, feel free to move along. The people who do this also do things like raise families, work full time jobs, and do some world altering stuff in their free time. No one profits a penny to listen to you b**** about their volunteer work here, so I am not going to let you take a crap on the work ethic of our moderators and admins. If you don't like Soxtalk, find some where else.

The fact that Tyler Danish wasn't good enough to surpass the guys you mentioned is the only answer you need. He doesn't throw very hard, and he doesn't have good enough stuff to fool most major league hitters. Dude is a walking embodiment of AAAA player.
