  1. Their quotes were that players are available now that might not be ready when they are ready to compete, and that they had the resources to try to go after them.
  2. That the process seems longer than ever, and that I think White Sox related reasons make it feel even more that way than normal for White Sox fans? I think that is absolutely fair.
  3. You probably shouldn't waste your time on the Sox for the next few years then if you are honestly waiting for them to be fired.
  4. People are bored of the rebuild by now, even though it was what they asked for two years ago. They are also green-eyed about a certain team across town. We all knew this would be a process and I think a lot of people got way too excited about the thrill of the hunt for these top two players. The odds were never in our favor. We are District 13 right now.
  5. Even as the second fiddle in Chicago, they have more of a market then they would pretty much anywhere else realistic,.
  6. The thrill of wrapped unknowns is greater than opening all of them to find out you got Ivan Nova for Christmas.
  7. At 3% compounding 7/300 turns into $327.8 million by year 10. If the player earns any money at all in those 3 years it weights towards the 7/300 more heavily.
  8. So this screencap of a line of this book was so awesome, I literally went and bought this book because of it.
  9. Again, only if Machado doesn't use those open 3 years on the end of the deal to earn any money. If he earns something those three years, the equation skews.
  10. Only if Manny Machado quits baseball at 33 and doesn't earn a penny in those last 3 years.
  11. Because when you are talking about $30 million a year versus $50 million a year, that is an extra $20 million a year that can't be spent. Even if you think the Sox are a $200 million payroll franchise in the future, that is 10% of your payroll EXTRA that is tied up in one player that can't be used. A $20 million payroll slot can get you a pretty good player. While they might be able to absorb it early, it would come back to haunt you in the later years of that deal right when your younger players are hitting their primes and getting expensive.
  12. So you either believe Bruce Levine or the agent sitting across from you telling you he has 10 years on teh table. Fun.
  13. Again, if true, this burns the idea that the Sox are serious here. If it isn't true, I am not quite sure what purpose it serves.
  14. It sure contradicts everything we have heard. If true it would mean zero chance at any superstar. It would also fully contradict the front office trying to say that we are being serious here.
  15. True story: The inspiration for the story behind The Mule, was from my hometown. I know people who bought his day lilies, though I never knew the guy myself.
  16. 5 hours sounds a lot more than a one last chance thing with a franchise you have already been with for 6 years. There are a lot of things that don't need to be discussed in a situation like that.
