  1. When you are talking about young pitching, regression shouldn't be a surprise, especially from someone who has been so up and down anyway. We saw the same from him last year. He was terrible for a large portion of the season with diminished stuff. That alone leaves the door open to it happening again. Especially when you contrast what he has done with Reynaldo's time here being about as good as could be expected, having somebody regress isn't really that big of a surprise. I will also promise you that Kopech will go through the same crazy ups and downs when he gets here. Don't be shocked when it happens.
  2. Giolito has been very up and down for a number of years now. Miguel Gonzalez is on the DL for being hurt, and definitely had diminished stuff when he was out there.
  3. People were living in a fantasy land if they expected the young pitchers to come in and dominate right away.
  4. Totally this. It continues to blow my mind when people act like they didn't expect being bad to look bad. This is what rebuilding looks like.
  5. Apparently the play in RF had a 99% catch probability.
  6. Yikes. Almost turned that into a triple.
  7. Ugh. Soria wasn't the target of that trade. Avilan was. They essentially got Avilan given to them because they were willing to take on Soria's salary, and make the rest of the deal work for LA and KC.
  8. Eh, it is still in the second year of the rebuild. The Sox are basically conducting open auditions for the bullpen at this point. They really don't care about having a bullpen that can win games, but seeing if any of these guys have either value or use in the future.
  9. His swing looks long and high effort to me.
  10. When you are an American league team who has a pitcher who has a career total of 20 PAs and last hit in 2016, it happens more often than if you were an NL team who was drilled on playing this type of baesball.
  11. A replay on the Cubs feed just confirmed it.
  12. This is probably the worst day to try to be rational in the game thread.
  13. If I haven't mentioned how much I hate the pitcher batting recently, now is a good time to say it again.
  14. And we are off to a great start today.
  15. So much for taking walks.
  16. Ha, he looks like "I see you dude."
  17. If you were to project out this season based on the first 34 games, and assuming zero improvement or impact from someone like Kopech and Rodon getting back to Chicago, this team is on a pace to give up 915 runs. The 1998 team gave up 931 runs.
  18. It is probably going to happen around the draft, or when Robert is back, which ever comes first. There is a whole mess of moves that needs to happen, and both of those events have a chance at being the catalyst for them. Once the Sox figure out how to break open a spot in Charlotte, there is a wave of guys all of the way down to rookie ball who are set to move up.
  19. He did, and it is something I know that was mentioned at the rally. I have met Donnelly on a couple of different occasions, once when he was still a Rep, and again as Senator. He never struck me as the brightest or most charismatic guy, but he seemed like about as straight of a shooter as you can find in this Congress. He always has voted with what he felt was right, and not what he was told to do.
  20. Which is funny because Donnelly is one of the very few in Congress who isn't afraid to step across the aisle when needed.
  21. Again, you must be pretty young.
  22. It is crazy, but it seems like every single draft expert has a different list of players the White Sox are interested in. I don't know if it is on purpose or what, but it is interesting me.
  23. They asked and were refused. I know at one point the rumor was they had a deal done for David Robertson that got up to the ownership level and Lerner vetoed. I can't remember who was in the deal now from the Washington side though.
  24. I have no doubt the collapse of the testing facility is a part of it. But there is still no doubt in my mind that NK is getting something out of this.
