  1. Dahlstrom up Larry Hawley‏Verified account @HawleySports 36m36 minutes ago No news on Corey Crawford, but the Blackhawks put defenseman Jan Rutta on Injured Reserve. @WGNNews
  2. ESPN Stats & Info‏Verified account @ESPNStatsInfo 2h2 hours ago Jimmy Garoppolo is now the highest paid player in the NFL, in terms of average annual cash value. Garoppolo will make $137.5M over the next 5 years, assuming his current contract is completed. That's more than Tom Brady earned in his first 14 seasons in the NFL ($135.4M).
  3. I got a good laugh out of this exchange. KennitoElDueño @ElCapitan787 Replying to @Micah_Johnson3 Come back to the Sox! Micah Johnson‏Verified account @Micah_Johnson3 21h21 hours ago Haha y’all got a 14 year old 2nd baseman built like Bo Jackson y’all gonna be alright

  5. QUOTE (WhiteSoxfan1986 @ Feb 9, 2018 -> 09:30 AM) We're probably better off just rooting for the losses to start piling up at this point for better lottery odds and hoping the ping pong balls fall their way. That is where I am at.
  6. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Feb 9, 2018 -> 09:08 AM) I mean, you are completely right. Anything is possible and I cheer for him to do great - it's a cool story from my hometown. I am just very skeptical when people expect just because Coop and Duncan are aboard that every project could be great. I personally hope he does do great and is part of the team to come - it's just my personal opinion playing with him since little league (not saying that means a thing in terms of skill - obviously players develop .... I mean that as someone who watched his career for that long) that I see him more as organizational depth. I think his best way to stick on the team is in a long relief/mop up roll. Otherwise I think he'll be a 30IP guy who bounces between AAA and Majors and susceptible to being picked up off of waivers. It doesn't make anything absolute, and no one ever said it did. But you can't deny that this organization, led by Don Cooper, has a great history of turning out arms into usable parts like almost no one else in baseball does. You play to your strengths and this is it. It isn't going to work every time, but in a world of finite resources for this rebuild, you invest in what you do best when it comes to the flyers you take.
  7. QUOTE (Tony @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 11:52 PM) Two first round exits and now missing the playoffs. No one will have to be convinced that Q should go at this point. It's time. And the Hawks seem to be the least patient team in town.
  8. PC out of control? Perhaps a virus scan is needed?
  9. QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 02:58 PM) The relevance is stating I've followed his career since he was 16. I think that qualifies me to give an opinion over the guy who couldn't spell Swarzak. I don't get why you would try and be keyboard hero for no reason. I've followed him with more interest than anybody on this board. Can you give me a reason why you think he'll be a candidate like Swarzak? Can anybody else on this board tell you off the top of their head about him being drafted by the Yankees, playing at Bradley, having surgery, his draft status, his time with the Rockies, Pirates, Brewers? Do I need to go on? This board is so annoying sometimes. So like I said, he's got some heat on his fastball, but saying he's going to somehow turn into a flippable arm in 3 months time isn't happening. He's got less than a 50% chance making the team. Will probably be called up and sent down a few times throughout the year based on injury and likely is picked up by another team before 2018 is up. What odds that Swarzak would have been a flippable arm? 5%? 2%?
  10. QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 02:11 PM) Am I wrong or wasnt there some beef between Duncan and Hawk a few years back? Hawk is basically retired now. The ambassadors will be at the ballpark as often as he is this season.
  11. Gives another set of eyes to the organization and takes some load off of Cooper for what is happening in the minors. I like it.
  12. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 12:30 PM) In fact it is 100% statistical. This is why I have never given it much consideration, as using stats alone to evaluate minor leagues just does not get you anything of value. As part of the picture, sure, stats can be used. But to lean totally on them is asking to be very wrong, very often. About all I like out of it is to see guys I hadn't really noticed before.
  13. QUOTE (Brian @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 12:26 PM) Battery dies LITERALLY as I was pulling into work. Getting a new one at lunch. Good times Better today than tomorrow.
  14. QUOTE (TheTruth05 @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 11:29 AM) Adrian Wojnarowski‏Verified account @wojespn Three impactful details on trade for Lakers: They'll have space for two max contract slots in 2018 or 2019, replenish first-round pick in 2018 Draft and gets Lakers some shooting for rest of season with Thomas and Frye. Lebron's a Laker next year lol Thanks DG Kiss the Bulls good bye.
  15. Vincent GoodwillVerified account @vgoodwill Bulls will immediately waive Willie Reed. And have the right to swap second round picks in 2022
  16. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 10:45 AM) Chicago will create a $1.43M trade exception with the Jameer Nelson trade. The Bulls are operating as a team over the salary cap based on their $12.5M (TE) and remaining Mid Level and Bi-Annual Exception. So big trade coming? How long is a trade exception good for? At the end of the day, I doubt a team was willing to give up a pick for Nelson, so getting whatever asset you can for him isn't a bad thing.
  17. KATOH is WAY too stat heavy.
  18. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 10:09 AM) Correct, that appears to be consensus. Kiley McDaniel said the other day that he sees him fitting in like an Evan Gattis -- a guy ho finds a spot in the lineup every day but is the second or third catcher. Pretty harsh if you ask me. (yes I know it is a typo)
  19. QUOTE (Eminor3rd @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 10:15 AM) I can't imagine caring at all about which radio station the Sox are on, so long as the station can be heard clearly during game broadcasts. Literally the only time I turn on AM radio is to find a Blackhawks or White Sox game, or to listen to 780 AM for news. I refuse to listen to sports radio in general, it is almost as bad as political talk radio.
  20. QUOTE (pittshoganerkoff @ Feb 8, 2018 -> 06:06 AM) These guys have every right to get as much money as they can each year. It's not exactly like football players who could suffer a career ending injury at any time, but there are still risks. Plus, if a guy like Avi loses arbitration and ends up tanking, his chances of getting paid afterwards go down. That extra million could make a difference. Look, I get the thought process of "give me $5.85 million and I'd be happier than s***." And like all other professional sports, they are all overpaid. But that doesn't matter. We can't compare what we get paid vs. what they get paid. The players look at what other players are getting paid and base what they expect on that. Teams pay out $80, $100, $200 million a year, and these guys are looking to get their cut. It is just like any industry. No one is going to be happy to be making a fraction of what their co-worker does.
