  1. This is going to be a financially interesting season. On paper, the Sox haven't turned a profit since 2019, which is the first time in Forbes recorded history, that has ever happened. We will see what 2024 looks like when the numbers are released here towards the beginning of the season. Right now the Sox basically have zero TV revenue on the books. They have a couple of small deals in place, but no anchor deals to speak of. That is a large chunk of revenues right there. They are also about to put up their smallest attendance year year this century. They put up 1.338m through the turnstiles in 1999. They had 1.38 last year. If they go below the 1999 number, their next lower number happened in 1989 when they barely cleared a million. This will probably be a 36 year low for attendance and the lowest ever at the new ballpark. I am sure everything else attached to revenues is going to be at multi-decade lows as well once you account for parking dollars, advertising dollars, concessions, etc.
  2. Without knowing the rest of the deal, I would fall here. If we are talking Arroyo and not much else? Eh. If you are getting another headliner like Collier and/or Stewart, plus a wild card or two? Do it. It's a sunk cost.
  3. Jacob Gonzalez 139 Bryan Ramos 171 Jairo Iriarte 192 Grant Taylor 198 Chase Meidroth 199
  4. It's the same things that we have all been talking about. Regressions and depth.
  5. Law ranks the Sox farm system 12th overall, as a part of what he calls "tier 3". Both Cleveland (5) and Detroit (7) ranked ahead of the Sox. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/6094581/2025/01/30/mlb-farm-system-rankings-2025/?source=emp_shared_article
  6. The Sox seem to view Robert as a salary dump? Awesome.
  7. They both seem to have one thing in common that kills them both, cowardice management and ownership which won't allow them to make the moves they need to sustain winning for anything resembling a prolonged period of time. Just like the Sox position player development, Baltimore hasn't been able to develop pitching and their management has been afraid to acquire the guys the really need to fill those holes.
  8. But apparently they do scour it to find other people to shame.
  9. It would so awful to be like Baltimore and coming off of multiple seasons in a row in the playoffs with one of the youngest offenses in the game. Those poor fans.
  10. Unless you really think that Colson Montgomery is going to be a failure, a 1/2 year deal doesn't fit what is happening here at all. The only way that changes if Monty isn't your guy and you use Kim as a bridge/trade bait to something else.
  11. If they want to send real prospects for the Sox to do it, they should absolutely listen to the pitch. They still need PLENTY of position player prospects.
  12. But you don't need to spend on that level to compete. Teams all over baseball prove that every year. Cheap AND stupid is the killer.
  13. On paper they are actually one of the least profitable teams in baseball.
  14. If the White Sox actually took advantage of the market they are in, and ran this franchise like anything but a family convience store, they would be a highly profitable team with a lot more revenue coming in on an annual basis. The disparity exists for them because of their own stupidity and stubbornness.
  15. For #33, this doesn't seem like a great write up.
  16. The great thing about the historic Soxfest was they always ran two amazing parallel paths for entertainment, giving a great experience to both adults and to the kids. I know they are trying to rebuild with the full knowledge that fan engagement is at a multi generational low, but geesh you would think someone would think to do better than this.
  17. That would be great for the White Sox, as they are #1 on the waiver claim slot, plus the Dodgers 40th roster slot probably has more talent than most of the White Sox 25 man roster.
  18. The divide on Colson is WILD, though historically the BA's of the world have been much quicker to adjust to changes in a players performance to move them into a more appropriate range.
  19. I have to imagine a write up for Grant Taylor would be similar, but with a higher ceiling. We have got to get some of these guys to stay healthy.
