  1. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 02:33 PM) Only if he's a reliever, and to me, you are torching potential value if you do that. I'd only do it if you are Going For It. If you are rebuilding, you protect him for a year. I think it is 100% he starts the year as a starter.
  2. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 02:18 PM) You didn't say anything about injuries. Now you do? And I bet you had saladino as one of you 2nd base options. I do. But I would rather be stable at 3B than 2B. If it happens, I would rather have a guy like Bregman stable at one position, than to have him moving to another to accommodate. If Saladino were to get hurt, we have a guy like Carlos Sanchez who could step in at 2B much easier than 3B.
  3. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 01:26 PM) I don't think that's the case. Part of any rebuild is making the decision to protect certain key prospects that are part of "the plan", which in this case means they'd go get some scrap heap guys, combined with a few of last year's AAA guys that are fringe prospects or AAAA guys, and finding stopgaps for the rotation. Burdi? Sure. I think Fulmer breaks camp with the Sox.
  4. QUOTE (mataipaepae @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 12:31 PM) Saladino can actually play a very good 3rd base. It is also worth mentioning that Saladino has been fairly injury prone and has had back problems. I'd rather have my 3B set for 150 games, than to move Bregman from one to the other instead of moving him around with injuries.
  5. If the Sox sell pitching, they will not have much of a choice but to have Fulmer starting in the majors, just by a pure numbers game.
  6. Very cool dude.
  7. QUOTE (soxfan2014 @ Nov 25, 2016 -> 07:02 AM) Why do some people who want Bregman want to play him at third? He'd be far more valuable at a middle infield position. He just played more 3B than second the last year and a half because of Correa and Altuve. Anderson so far has proven himself an excellent SS defensively, and he still has a lot of time to grow. My guess is that if Sale gets dealt, Frazier is either signing an extension or being traded himself. If he is traded, we have a couple of kids who can hold down 2B, and none who can hold down 3B.
  8. Very sad to see Bob Chase passed away.
  9. QUOTE (WhiteSoxLifer @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 02:28 PM) Dont think you are getting both bregman and springer. Would take package starting with bregman and reed. Both younger and under control longer I have to imagine if the Astros were willing to give up both in a deal, Sale would have had his press conference in a Houston jersey already.
  10. Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
  11. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Nov 24, 2016 -> 01:21 PM) Bregman, I would move him to second and the team should have their middle infield locked up for the foreseeable future. Package of Bregman, Springer, Tucker, Whitely and another low level prospect would have me interested. I would look to flip Springer for more prospects at the deadlinehttp://www.soxtalk.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=101133&st=150&gopid=3450708 I have to imagine that if Sale is dealt, Frazier isn't too far behind unless he is signing a below market extension. In that case, Bregman is our 3B for the next decade. That leaves us Saladino and Sanchez (assuming that Lawrie leaving is true) for 2B, even if we get no one else to put over there from these deals.
  12. QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 11:55 PM) Guy on the Astros fan board that was posted early suggested this deal.... Bregman, Devenski, Martes and Kyle Tucker for Sale. Obviously Bregman is awesome. Was ranked anywhere from #22-#49 going in to 2016 before he had an incredible year. Martes is the 19th ranked prospect in baseball, Tucker is #46. And Devenski, whose best pro season came in 2016 in his rookie year when he had a 2.16 ERA, 8.6 K/9, 1.7 BB/9, and a WHIP of only 0.91, was actually drafted by the White Sox in the 25th round before he was TRADED to the Astros for....Brett Myers! Wheeeeeee. Anyway, I would take this deal for sure. Obviously Bregman is a stud, Martes is a top 20 prospect, Tucker is top 50, and Devenski could have figured it all out in the majors. Done deal. I'd rather get one of their couple of July 2 signings that are in their lists than Devinksi.
  13. My guess is that Coats loses his position to a real OF prospect that we bring back in the future Sale deal. I am plenty OK with that, as I think the guy is a 4th OF at best.
  14. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 05:23 PM) I'm really curious why Houston seems so eager to move Springer. He seemingly fits in well in that clubhouse and fits perfectly on paper with Correa, Altuve, ect. Chris Sale?
  15. QUOTE (Ro Da Don @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 03:56 PM) If I'm Hahn, it needs to center around Bregman/Tucker/Reed. 3 high ceiling bats with top prospect pedigree. This is the type of deal I am looking at. The Sox are way better at the drafting and development of pitchers. Give me guys who are further along in another system and play premium positions. Houston is loaded with power hitting position players from looking at their lists. They also have a couple of interesting Latin players who could make high ceiling targets for years down teh road.

  19. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 01:35 PM) That open spot can now be used to select someone in the rule 5, right? I believe that is correct. You have to have your protected list into the league office by the deadline, but as long as you have open rosters spots on the day of the draft, you can pick players.
  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:44 PM) It is actually plausible that we will be pretty good. Sometimes it only takes a couple of young stars to enter into a lineup that put a team over the top. This rebuild doesnt HAVE to be what everyone thinks it needs to be in the traditional sense like the Cubs. It can be a more agile approach of adding young talent here and there as we go slowly building the best possible fits along the way. It doesnt have to be shipping it all out at one time to suck for 5 years to prove to the fan that its an official rebuild. I know that is what most people want, but I really see there being a barely above zero chance of that happening.
  21. QUOTE (GreenSox @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:42 PM) I just want him to stay out of the specifics. It's his eagle eye and lust for tools that gave us Avisail, Walker and Hawkins and many others. He has a bad habit of getting myopic about specific players/prospects and losing value because of it. He can give some overall parameters and then the "OK" if he believes the trade is fair, but he needs to stay out of the way of the specific return. And, yes, I know I'm dreaming. Others like Jose Abreu?
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Nov 23, 2016 -> 12:32 PM) I like the Astros prospects more, though. Would rather just focus on getting better than whom we'll need to face in 2019/2020. I like getting a position player as the top player in a deal versus a pitcher. I would rather get back Bregman/Springer versus Urias.

  24. Between the two teams, I would much rather see Sale traded to the National League.
