  1. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:41 PM) A ton of people believe that, sorry you don't, Ventura would of never lasted 5 years as manager with any other owner by JR. People can believe whatever they want. Hell "people" believe Donald Trump would be a good president. That doesn't make it true.
  2. QUOTE (Soxfest @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:34 PM) No owner is worse playing the blind loyalty card. A change is much needed. If you honestly believe that, there is one more blind person here...
  3. QUOTE (chisoxt @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:29 PM) I actually think the current ownership is dysfunctional and inept but you raise a good point- sort of like, 'the devil known' . The current ownership also is saddled with very little debt which makes it a bit easier to operate. I know there is the ridiculous myth about this ownership group. But realistically, there are plenty of ownership groups out there who treat their teams like an annuity. The Sox do put a fair amount of resources into their team. There are baseball teams out there who have figured out how to minimize their payroll in order to maximize their revenue sharing checks. The Sox have never fallen into that group. There are also groups who are losing 8 figures a year or more on debt payments that never go back to the team. Sure the Sox could find the next freespendin billionaire who needs a play thing. They could also find the next Jeff Loria or Larry Dolan.
  4. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:23 PM) LOL - oh, I will gladly take my chances! Yeah, lol is about right. Add in an eye roll as well.
  5. QUOTE (DrunkBomber @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:17 PM) Socially liberal, smaller government. Also, not Trump or Clinton. Prepare to be beaten down.
  6. QUOTE (Thad Bosley @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 07:05 PM) You laugh now, but all you have to do is look around professional sports to know that there are much worse ownership groups worse than the one we have. It hard to see past your hatred, but it is true.
  7. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 06:35 PM) I'm so sorry haha Yeah, to be clear, I have no doubt Mark Cuban would bust a nut to have the White Sox. The odds of it happening are about the same as Jill Stein winning the Presidency.
  8. QUOTE (Iwritecode @ Aug 4, 2016 -> 12:08 PM) I enjoyed it but that scene with the two masked gunmen shooting all the FBI agents felt off to me. Dom seemed a little TOO calm during that whole scene. I also hated that they did the cliché of the bad guy using a semi-automatic gun to uselessly pour bullets into whatever barrier the hero is hiding behind instead of walking the 20 feet over to shoot her at point-blank range. I think they cut that scene before it was truly over but she shouldn't have survived that. I love the way they brought this back and used it to add to the story line. I mean they have just incredible writers.
  9. I don't know why people keep mentioning the name Mark Cuban. Even if you want to make the leap of faith that this is true, the last person on earth that JR would sell to is Mark Cuban. He hates the guy. All you have to do is Google it. The information is out there. Hell there might be a better chance of them selling to Donald Trump.
  10. QUOTE (Username @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 05:50 PM) That's not a stereotype. It's a fact that the stadium is in an brutal area for selling tickets. Literally nothing adjacent to the stadium to draw people in. It is a stereotype. The stadium drew just fine in 2006.
  11. QUOTE (greg775 @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 05:17 PM) Yes, but a lot of people simply would never consider going to 35th and Shields. Convenience is good, but other cities have their stadiums downtown and thrive. Chicago has to think big. Our team is second fiddle. It's time for the new owners to figure out where we would have the best chance of selling out every game. Frankly it's probably either Naperville or in the heart of downtown. Make it a 45,000 seat stadium with a retractable roof and put it somewhere we're going to sell out every game. It's got to truly be the best stadium ever constructed to compete with the Cubs. 2006 called. They want their stereotypes back.
  12. QUOTE (SpankyEaton @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 04:57 PM) If they do sell, then would that mean leaving Chicago and Illinois? Is it likelier to happen than staying put? They have a lease that runs through 2033.
  13. QUOTE (Charlie Haeger's Knuckles @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 04:51 PM) Didn't JR have a blowup with Bernstein on-air a few years ago? I remember JR saying "You'll never get a bite of this apple again" and then he hung up on them. Bernstein has always had a bone to pick with JR. #shrug A "rebranded" franchise? Cool. But with a new stadium downtown? Sounds dope as f*** to me. If every guy who was pissed of at JR isn't a Sox fan, there aren't many Sox fans on Soxtalk. Hell Bernstien sounds like most of Soxtalks more cranky crowd.

  17. QUOTE (miracleon35th @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 04:42 PM) It has to do with an unsubstantiated rumor propounded by a Sox hater, and Bernstein most definitely is that. He's trying to create trouble and enjoying the White Sox floundering. He and other Cubs fans WANT the White Sox sold and moved. And one of the thimngs they love to point out is how terrible the neighborhood around US Cellular is. It is curious who posted so quickly in succession objecting to a negative post about the Cubs. Back to Bernstein, show me any evidence you have indicating that he is a sox fan. Something he claimed ? LOL. My opinion is based on speaking with Bernstein in person and listening to Boers and Bernstein sarcastic digs at the White Sox while praising the Cubs for years. So you don't have evidence, you have an opinion, but you want someone else to provide evidence for you? LMAO, come on man. This is like twitter-weaksauce.
  18. QUOTE (Joshua Strong @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 04:30 PM) If someone has the financial ability to bankroll a sports franchise and that money is clean, isn't that all matters? And I think he can be an owner of a team he just can't have a controlling interest. Because he was allowed to bid on that Rangers when they were in bankruptcy court, where he was partnered with Jim Crane. Maybe Cuban isn't enough of an old white man and maybe that scares the MLB owners. f***, Jeffery Loria can own a team but not Mark Cuban. They can't stop Cuban from bidding on a team. They can not vote for him to own a team.

  20. QUOTE (shipps @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:51 PM) OMG White! Unbelievable! You will have to deal with not knowing whether White just snapped a body part or made an amazing play. LOL Because that is any different than watching Jeffrey or Cutler...
  21. QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:50 PM) Owners are giving up that sweet sweet tv money. Even if we are last in the ratings, no way do they give up on the potential of a Chicago market. If they do sell, they will be getting their share of around a billion dollars.
  22. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:55 PM) Going to edit title to indicate how unsubstantiated this is. edit: crap, I don't have those powers. I gotcha
  23. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:37 PM) Well that IS two different sports. Obviously it would be awesome to have an owner like him or anyone that would want to pump money into the team, however I dont think that market exists. The Mavericks were an afterthought in Dallas. They were FAR behind both the Cowboys, the Rangers, and any particular college sport up there. No one cared about them until Cuban showed up. In that respect, they are very similar to the White Sox. The market exists. There are plenty of bandwagon fans in Chicago. All you have to do is look at 2006. Again, the problem isn't Cuban wanting the team, it is MLB not wanting Cuban.
  24. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:30 PM) He's smart enough to know not to compete against the Cubs in this town. Although the Sox would be a bargain right now, the Cubs are going to be THE story in this town for the next decade while they actually win. lol, BS. If he thinks he can make money off of it, he'd be on it in about a second. Playing second fiddle to the Cowboys in Dallas sure didn't scare him away from the Mavericks. His problem will be getting past the ownership committee in MLB. You need 3/4 support for approval, which he will never get.
  25. QUOTE (bmags @ Aug 11, 2016 -> 03:18 PM) Thanks, I wonder if it's "rumors" or " i have a source" Either way, I am not putting a whole of faith into anything he talks about until a legitimate news source puts some mustard on this. Bernstein has less information to offer than even a Bruce Levine.
