Carson Fulmer Getting Called Up?
QUOTE (Deadpool @ Aug 9, 2016 -> 08:06 AM) If I'm Hahn, I put Shields on waivers. And your 2017 rotation would indicate the Sox are going with perennial failure mode. No thanks. Every single major league baseball player is going to be put on waivers at some point this month.

QUOTE (Hatchetman @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 07:11 PM) He's got $20MM in the bank so maybe he can go back to Cuba if he can't handle being away for his family. #TeamTrump

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 05:12 PM) They got rid of Terry Ryan because of his inability to supplement the talent of his farm system with adequate major league talent, don't change the goal posts. You implied they need to rebuild again because of the failings of the farm system which is just incorrect. They are rebuilding again.

QUOTE (Dunt @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 04:24 PM) They are? Seems like the prospects are just starting to arrive to me...Ya, Buxton has busted out so far and his health has been lousy, but are you really going to say that Sano and Kepler have been bad so far? In a little over a seasons worth of ABs, Miguel Sano has 36 HRs, a .245 ISO, an .867 OPS, and a 135 wRC+. Kepler, who is just seeing his first full-time action this season, has 15 HRs w/ a .277 ISO, .878 OPS, and 130 wRC+ in 258 ABs. Jose Berrios is going to be 22 at the start of next season and looks the part of an absolute stud. Adalberto Mejia looks like he will open next season in the rotation too barring any setbacks and he's having an excellent year in the minors. If anything, I'd say the future is starting to come together for the Twins. Let's not forget that they won 6 of 10 division titles in the 2000's, they were due for a rough stretch. Their ownership sure doesn't agree with that if they are firing the GM and trading away players at the deadline.

QUOTE (GhostofDickeyKerr @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:32 PM) Like whom? Apparently ghosts don't have google. It was just 3 years ago that they had 2 of the 10 highest rated prospects in all of baseball, and 6 of the top 72. 2014 they had the #1 and #6 rated prospects, and 4 of the top 52.

QUOTE (Dick Allen @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:13 PM) Didn't their minor league system get a real high ranking from many of the "experts"? They had a lot of highly touted players.

QUOTE (ChiliIrishHammock24 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 03:10 AM) Drafted in the 2nd RD, former 1-1 candidate, I think he qualifies, regardless of his senior year hiccups. The bottom line is that Hansen is doing WAY better against a lot better competition.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:05 AM) Adolfo looks like he's finally coming alive, which will be massive for this system. Outside of maybe Zach Collins, I don't know if we have a hitter with a higher ceiling than Adolfo.

QUOTE (BrianAnderson @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 09:52 AM) This may not be exactly 100% on topic of the thread, but I keep reading about rebuilds across this board. Just one thing to point out - not all rebuilds go as planned. Not every rebuild turns into the Cubs. Look at the Pirates - they were rebuilding for over a decade and always in the cellar. Prospects don't all turn into something like Schwarber and Rizzo and Bryant, etc. Also not all GM's and Teams have the ability to spend money on add'l pieces like a Lester or Heyward when their young talent is hitting the majors. In fact, not many teams have the allure of playing at Wrigley. Just saying. We are in like year 8 of a playoff drought. Even with a tear down, IF all things went 100% great we wouldn't be back in the playoff picture for probably 3-5 years.... Another good place to look is in our own division at the Twins. They went into rebuilding mode, and are now seemingly starting over again.

2016 MLB catch all thread
I know most people like to watch the home run hitters hit, and the guys throwing 100 mph throw, but Ichiro is one of my all time favorites to watch hit. The dude will literally do anything to get on base and help his team out. He is truly one of a kind.

Jose Abreu
QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:51 AM) But the original point of the comment to make this was not making this about some personal thing about Jose. Yes, we are all sympathetic about Jose's situation, and wish he could have seen his son whenever he wanted to. However, I think this is more about the circus atmosphere the White Sox have cultivated, where fans are left in a thread to wonder about whether the presence or absence of a player's child might make or break a team. You are trying to make a leap that isn't there. It doesn't matter how PR solid an organization is, the absence of a child is going to be a horrible disruption for 99% of people, White Sox player or not. It is also ignoring some pretty ridiculous stuff that happens in other organizations that we just don't focus on as White Sox fans. The Puig situation is the most recent example. The Chapman dueling press conferences is another great one.

QUOTE (Greg Hibbard @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 10:32 AM) Why should he feel bad for that post? Regardless of Jose's personal circumstances, it's ludicrous that the White Sox have cultivated an atmosphere where we as fans wonder whether the absence or presence of a child makes a difference on players paid millions to play baseball. It truly is a circus. Just because someone is a professional baseball player, it doesn't mean he is super-human and can disconnect himself from his family like it never happened. I can tell you that most fathers would be destroyed mentally by going years without seeing their kid/s. This isn't a White Sox thing. This is a human thing. Any thought to the contrary is ridiculous.

QUOTE (FT35 @ Aug 8, 2016 -> 08:12 AM) Soooooo....lemme get this straight...we need LaRoche's son to be gone...but now we need Abreu's son to be here all the time!? Maybe he's the missing leader on this team now that Drake is gone!? What a circus! Do other teams go through what we go through!?!?!??!?! You have got to be joking. Please tell me you are joking.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 03:12 PM) Hakeem would be putting up GOAT numbers if he played in this era. He was a generation ahead of his time with his mid range game and his passing skills. If he played today, I am sure he would have a 3 point shot too.

August 7th 2016 Game Thread White Sox vs. the Former St. Louis Browns
QUOTE (fathom @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 02:16 PM) 5.79 ERA as a reliever and still on the roster getting meaningful appearances. That's something the old Rockies used to do This is not meaningful. Any game where you enter down by 8 runs is not meaningful.

How much hope should we have for Anderson?
QUOTE (GreenSox @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 01:10 PM) Yea, I fail to properly venerate Alexei Ramirez. Yea yea. Heck half this board wanted him back this season for $10 million. Alexei was not good on offense. He made one all star team. I want Sox top prospects to be able to hit...and not just hit decently "for a shortstop." If they don't, I am disappointed. Players aren't picked high in the first round with the expectation that they will have a .307 OBP, like Alexei has. Math is hard, let's go shopping!

Omar Narvaez
To me it is obvious that the Sox have been hiding Navaez and playing him in advantageous situations. His minor league career doesn't really indicate he is going to be anything but a back up you would be looking to replace at best.

QUOTE (Quinarvy @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 11:53 PM) Someone feel free to prove me wrong, but Great Falls tends to be college players while the AZL is high schoolers. Hansen was struggling against the same batters a few months ago and got sent to the bullpen and is now dealing. QUOTE (bighurt4life @ Aug 7, 2016 -> 12:20 AM) Not true, he was struggling against only some of these guys a few months ago. Most of the players he struggled against in college weren't good enough to be drafted. The players in rookie ball are the top 10% or so (total guess) of the players he struggled against in college plus a few HS'ers, Dominicans, etc... Who are very talented as well. His turn around has been remarkable, no need to even qualify it Both of these. Hansen is doing much better, again much better competition. Yes there is still a lot better players for him to go against, but this is 100% a reason for optimism.

QUOTE (ptatc @ Aug 6, 2016 -> 11:14 PM) Or does it mean that in rookie ball many if the 18 year olds are swinging at everything. While it good to see him do well, I don't trust big performances in rookie ball. I would wait until he has a couple of season against older competition before proclaiming his delivery improved, unless of course there has been videos or live reports of the changes. How many players get a ton better moving from college to rookie ball?
