These are the little thing Getz did so well to tale a 101 loss team and make it 20 games worse. No one move alone does this, but add em up and here we are.

This year just keeps getting better

White Sox "actively seeking" packages for Robert

The guys who average 40 to 50% of their seasons hurt, all get hurt, including ones with injuries you say are predictable, and yet no one could have seen it coming when deciding how bad this team would be. Makes sense. -

Weren't you just the one trying to say his injury was one of the reasons the were so historically bad? -
Looking at the actual guys on this pitching staff and their histories, I am not convinced there is much more to get out of them. By and large this is an awful bullpen, pitching pretty awful. The young guys have show young guy ups and downs. The reclamation projects have seen a couple of successes, and more failures, as is to be expected. Crochet and Fedde have been huge pluses.

But no one could have planned for his being injured. -
As I have seen it so far the Sox traded a limited ceiling SP for a limited ceiling OF. I wasn't opposed to it because of who we gave up, but I sure haven't been impressed with who we got, and the team already seems to not be believing in Fletcher as well. That's not a good sign for any improvements in scouting which is what I am more worried about.

Yeah, I hate to tell you this, but they have them now, and we are setting all time worst records with them. -
The front end of that prediction means we got front end prospects who are older and basically ready for the majors. If the top talent is younger, then keep adding to those seasons. It also means that we hit on a high percentage of them, and they had very high ceilings that they got to, especially in the position player group, because those do not exist in our system as of today. It means we need a Chris Sale type package for those two guys AND they need to actually pan out this time. It means that Fedde has to draw at least one guy who turns into a good every day starter, and maybe more. Thankfully all of the people responsible for our former minor league development have been sent packing...

Ok those numbers don't make sense to me. He has a near major league average exit velocity against all of these pitches, yet has awful BABIP and even worse batting averages, but hard hit percentages near 40%. It looks like he is above MLB average of around 35% there. Can you explain the discrepancies?

They HAVE to. Otherwise he shouldn't be dealt. -
Not to mention that would be almost a 5 WAR swing at catcher between that and Moldy.
-
And I am saying there is zero chance of it happening here.

I will tell you what. I will give you 100:1 the Sox don't win the World Series in 3 years, or 2027. Pick an amount.

Which they supplemented with top of the market superstars off of the free agent market to make the window move up.

Payroll really matters if you are willing to use it wisely. Again, have we seen that happen in the last couple of decades? I haven't.

And here I thought guys who loved dictators were back in fashion for a cross section of this country.

Me too, but for some they seem to leave out that part. Was trying to not wake them from their dream.

Seeing some of the other owners around baseball, I definitely don't believe that to be true.

Who's to say that Thorpe isn't a first ballot hall of fame pitcher? Yeah, I am going to say that is true. If I am wrong, come back to me in twenty years, and I will own it, but yes I feel really good in saying that Thorpe isn't Verlander. I also feel pretty good in saying that neither Quero, nor Lee, is IRod. I feel pretty sure that the Salas kid from the Padres as the top catching prospect out there is that guy either, even if somehow we were to get him from the Padres. Of course "a lot can change" but if the owner doesn't change, it fundamentally won't. The Sox will not be a top of the market spending team as long as Jerry Reinsdorf is alive. He hasn't been that guy in 30+ years. We won't be going after the Pete Alonzos and Juan Sotos of the world this winter. I know what you are trying to say here, but realistically, what are the odds of all of those types of things happening with the Sox history factored in? 1000:1?
