  1. How big has baserunning been during this streak? Going back to before the streak started, when Juan Uribe cleaned out the shortstop to break up a double play. Since then how many different guys have we seen busting their asses to get extra bases (CQ, Swish, Anderson) and putting pressure on the pitchers that led to extra runs. I know people have mentioned Anderson last night, but they don't score those runs without him tagging.
  2. QUOTE (knightni @ May 22, 2008 -> 08:17 PM) Do you realize that you're now 10,000 ahead of the 2nd ranked guy now? Talk about no life... The sad thing at one time I averaged over 40 posts per day... Then the kids came along...
  3. 26-20 +3.5 games 8 wins in a row 4-2 vs Cleveland on the season SWEEP!
  4. QUOTE (mr_genius @ May 22, 2008 -> 02:46 PM) yea but the highest rate in the country? something is up. 20% is way too much, there is no way all that money is going back into the infrastructure. also nice to see you try to hijack this thread into yet another Iraq argument It tells me that all of the studies I have read that estimate the waste factor of government being 10-15% are probably really low in Chicago. Higher taxes do not mean more stuff gets done. All you have to do is look at Chicago and its crumbling infrastructure to go with sky high taxes in pretty much every sector of life, not to mention all of the fees and fines they collect.

  7. Wanna blame someone for high gas prices? Try a little closer to home... http://cbs2chicago.com/politics/gas.prices...s.2.729939.html
  8. Its nothing big... I am just thinking with the way that the Rangers fall apart in August and September every year, its got a pretty good shot. Look at guys like Blalock, Kinsler, Mench, Wilkerson during their time down in Texas. Big first halves, bad second halves. Texeira seemed to buck that trend.
  9. I'm of the older school opinion that you can't win a division in May, but you can sure as hell lose it. The teams behind us haven't done themselves any favors, that's for sure. They all have some work to do if they want to win this, especially the Tigers.
  10. QUOTE (RibbieRubarb @ May 22, 2008 -> 01:13 PM) Alrighty then...If there is a cement pond near they could go for a dip. Wet plushie can't smell very good in the summer sun...
  11. I made a bet with someone at work that Hamilton wouldn't get to 110 RBIs. I think the Texas summer takes it out of him, and he falls off pretty big. Thoughts?

  14. QUOTE (Mplssoxfan @ May 22, 2008 -> 09:08 AM) This oil supply update is bad news. that's what set the crude rally in motion yesterday.
  15. Crede for Figgens, Figgens plays 2B and leads off, with Fields called up and into 3B. I'd do it.
  16. I think the big difference is his two strike approach. He isn't afraid to take a little off of the swing, wait back a little longer, and try to foul off bad pitches if necesary. Sometimes it gets him hits like last night.
  17. New question to ponder. The patio party is $40 a head, with a $10 discount off of a game ticket. Its expensive. The question is such. Should we just try to get a group rate for tickets, forget the patio party, and do a hellacious talegate instead?
  18. QUOTE (Chisoxfn @ May 22, 2008 -> 11:23 AM) The force looms strong But not strong enough!
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ May 22, 2008 -> 08:27 AM) Certainly does those things. However, let's ask an honest but tough question here... how will a Punjabi and former Hindu go over with the religious conservative crowd? ETA: For that matter, how would having a Punjabi as a VP effect foreign policy? Because that pretty much guarantees you some problems with Pakistan and other countries, potentially. What has having all white males gotten us for the past 230 years? I don't really think it matters to be honest. Heck in Obama's case they are presenting his race and upbringing as an asset, I don't see how it would be any different in this case. I don't see a different world view as hurting us in foreign policy, because in reality, how many Christian nations are we in super tough negotiations with anyway? The religious conservatives don't really like McCain anyway, but they hate Obama WAY worse. It becomes the lesser of two evils. If they stay home, they get an authentic liberal.
  20. That would be a really interesting answer to both Barack Obama's race and McCains age. Not to mention that they couldn't throw the experience card at him because Obama is just a step above that level and running for President.

  22. If we can get Thome going in the middle of this line up too, that's just scary. He can literally carry a team for weeks at a time.
  23. In back to back nights the Sox gave veteran foe pitchers their first ever losses at US Cellular Field.
  24. QUOTE (kapkomet @ May 22, 2008 -> 07:59 AM) It's getting ridiculous. I mean seriously. Its back down under $133 now, so that should get stocks going today.
