  1. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 11:12 AM) This election cycle has more good candidates than any I've seen in a few cycles. Unfortunately, everyone seems to be forgetting that, because Clinton and Romney (the current front-runners) are among the worst of each bunch. But the overall field is an improvement. The "good" candidates don't have a chance. Pretty much unless you are out there slinging mud, you get tore apart or ignored completely.
  2. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 08:41 AM) That has been said before. And once the American public truly believes it, we'll elect a "classy" candidate or two. I've said it before, of all the things that Reagan did, persona was #1 exactly when we needed it. The delegate leaders are Mitt Romney and Hillary Clinton, neither of those are screaming "classy" to me.
  3. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 08:29 AM) Are their financials that bad? I didn't look. I didn't look either, but that is the first thing I tell anyone who wants to trade.
  4. Its amazing how polarized politics have become, and how well it seems to work. Elections haven't been about reaching out to the middle for a long time now. Its about exciting a dedicated base, and then having them carry you at the polls. It worked for Clinton, and it worked for Bush. The Clintons are just continuing that strategy. They don't care about the middle of the country, because the middle of the country has proven has dedicated to their causes as the wings of the parties have. Obama has to excite the middle of the country if he wants to have a chance. Seeing the way he is being savaged on TV, I have to agree that I don't see this happening. I do find it sad that an Ex-President has been regulated to the roll of attack-dog, instead of trying to campaign on a higher level, more honorable platform. Then again seeing how he behaved in office, it doesn't surprise me at all. I also think if GWB was in a similar situation, he'd be making just as big of an ass out of himself. I see no honor in the Presidency anymore.
  5. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 01:51 AM) By the way, on individual stocks.... does anyone else think JetBlue is currently a steal at 4.70 a share? I'm no economist and I know that airline stocks are generally not good performers... but Lufthansa just dumped 750 million into the airline for 19% and I wouldn't think that would happen for a short term deal. Rule #1 of all trading, only risk what you are able to lose. If you will miss the money if JBLU goes bankrupt, don't do it.
  6. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 23, 2008 -> 07:17 AM) Chicago Tribune Calls Out The Clintons: Clintons are lying about Obama's remarks That was an excellent write up. I hate to see Obama get ate up by the Clinton Machine, but you can see it coming a mile away.
  7. QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 03:52 PM) I think Aardsma is the tallest midget out of MacDougal, Masset, and Sisco. Is death an option?
  8. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 06:47 PM) The other question is...should a former President carry himself with more dignity than to join in a campaign as an attack dog, regardless of whether or not one of his family members is running. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong but I certainly don't recall 41 going out on the campaign trail and joining in the "McCain has an illegitimate black daughter" stuff from 00. You lost me when you tried to inject Bill Clinton and dignity into the same thought.
  9. QUOTE(Queen Prawn @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 09:21 PM) I enjoyed "Life After People." I liked how they used examples of similar changes that are already going on in the world (towns around Chernobyl, etc). It shocked me that people were walking around in that town without radiation suits!
  10. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 04:03 PM) I thought bear was 10% reduction. So this would just be a Cub market? Nobody's winning, and nobody's losing enough to care? 10% is just a correction from a commonly accepted point of view.
  11. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 02:36 PM) Stay out of this. Me and Tex are padding our post count. Amatuers :headshake:
  12. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 02:52 PM) How do you get that they are "actively reducing it" from that quote? That quotes says, to me, that 5/3 will only see benefit if more borrowers come to them because of decreased rates. Which is of course the whole point. And your definition of a bear market is not the same as the one I've been taught - a 20% drop from a high. We aren't there yet. That is the generally accepted definition, and that number is about 11331.00 in the Dow.
  13. 12000 is a big big number for the Dow. If they break that, they might end up at 20% down from the highs, which is official bear market territory.
  14. QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 02:07 PM) You are correct. SC may be a lopsided loss for her. If the stories about half of the voters being black, black voters favoring Obama by and 80-20 margin, and white voters favoring Clinton by a 60-40 margin, are all true, Obama is going to kick Hillary's ass in SC.
  15. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 01:16 PM) Just heard on Fox News. Thompson's dropping out. So how long until he endorses McCain?
  16. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 01:11 PM) It's not out of the realm of possibility. Tight electoral vote count? Crazy electronic balloting? Some strange irregularities in a swing state like Florida or Ohio or Missouri? Stealing elections happens quite often. 1960, 2000, 2004 (although it probably didn't need to be stolen in the first place). now contrast that to somewhere like Pakistan today... That's my point.
  17. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 12:31 PM) And unfortunately, KW totally f***ed this one up. which DA couldn't wait to point out again
  18. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 12:33 PM) It's actually slightly less than half, if you pay attention to polling data and votes. Something like 40%. Which one? Like or dislike?
  19. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 08:12 AM) You act like this is Pakistan. I don't care if a "9/11 event" happened on January 1 of next year. This country will still go on, with a new president, on January 20, 2009. Period. Besides if you really want to believe the worst of a party, wouldn't it be much easier just to steal another election, and install another proxy President, instead of risking a HUGE public backlash?
  20. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 21, 2008 -> 09:04 PM) Why the green, he's a posting machine And I never used post enhancing substances either.
  21. Who knew that you spell bust with 3 "A"'s.
  22. Happy Birthday
  23. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 22, 2008 -> 11:18 AM) I will say this. There is finally some edge back in the pits for traders. Spreads are wider and p/l 's are greener. My take right now is we go back to test 1293 on futures on the downside. Or we test 1327.50 on the upside. Well we had our bloodletting, so a rally really is possible right now.
  24. I thought the show was excellent. I really enjoyed it. The prespectives and theories were fasinating. I highly recommend watching it.
  25. I [heart] volatility We as a company are looking at doing 2.5 to 3 times our usual daily volume of trades
