  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 02:09 PM) Bingo. I think you and I are on the same path here. There are certainb venues that I have to be very careful about what I say and do. Certainly a work function, while I am in uniform would carry different expectations than a public events away from work. If she was away from work, I agree with YAS's comments, but at work, different rules. That's pretty much how I feel. If she would have done it somewhere else, fine, freedom of speech and all, but when you are at your place of employment, you cross into the line of swinging your fist into someone else's nose. This is someone elses bottom line we are talking about potentially.
  2. Its no real big surprise, but stocks do seem to like it.
  3. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 01:01 PM) She, from what I understand, didn't accost him. She, as citizen of the US and the commonwealth of KY, asked to speak to and question of one of her elected representatives. And to clarify the situation, Ryan wasn't 'on the job'. She was on the street as a citizen. I'll grant the bratty ass kid was way out of line, but still, no politician to have to power to demand someone be fired for questioning them. She was at her place of employment, stuck a camera in the face of a politician, and then her daughter yelled at him. I can't imagine any place of employment that would take kindly to that.
  4. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 12:36 PM) Freedom of speech. Reminds me of something that happened here last week. Mitch McConnell made an appearance near me (in Paducah) in a small movie theater. As he came out of the theater, he was approached by the theater manager and her daughter (about 12 years old I think) with mom carrying a videocam. She asked McConnell if he'd talk to her about the Iraq war. He brushed her off. The daughter went ballistic! Screeching something at him, I couldn't understand her. He, or someone in his party said, "That'll be enough of that". Now, I know I used quotes but it may not be exact. The kid cameback with "Whatcha going to do about it?" The next day, the lady was fired from her job. Now she is applying for a new job, Representative from the KY 1st District in the US House of Representatives. I have heard the video made you tube. Her name is Heather Ryan, so a Heather Ryan, Mitch McConnell search my find it. I don't know. However, a citizen should absolutely have the right to question an elected official without fear of losing their job. The kid was way out of line, but the kid is a kid. Ryan said on local radio that McConnell demanded she be fired. That ain't right. I hope she sues. In exactly how many jobs could you accost someone and not expect to lose your job?
  5. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 12:06 PM) I'd just like to point out...how in the world did we get to an era where being anti-torture was a position held by 1 party and not the other? Sorry to interject, just had to. 3000 dead American's can change people's minds about how to treat people trying to kill us.
  6. QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 11:37 AM) It must have been an exausting research project for you... The first rule is that you have to love your work.
  7. QUOTE(YASNY @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 11:31 AM) If he wins the nomination, he won't need a bible thumper. He'll be running against a Democrat. There have been rumblings about a 3rd party run by someone, who as yet is unnamed, if they Repub nominee wasn't religious enough.
  8. No straight male authored this study, that is for sure.
  9. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 11:09 AM) Sometimes I don't even think the citation is necessary. McCain needs a good old fashioned bible thumper to be his running mate. He needs someone to pacify the religious right who hate him.
  10. QUOTE(Cknolls @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 10:28 AM) Rasmussen: McCain 48% Clinton 40% McCain 47% Obama 41% Wow. That surprises me. His independant streak will help him during the general election, but I didn't think it would be THAT much.

  12. QUOTE(Athomeboy_2000 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:53 AM) Hillary's word: It's worth nothing Union Leader in NH bashes Hillary for playing NH as fools. Raise your hands if you are surprised by this [crickets]
  13. QUOTE(KipWellsFan @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:51 AM) What's it like to be bitter all the time? I don't see anything from the past few days that indicates Obama's any less likely to win than the day he won South Carolina. The racial breakdowns are the one big thing that has to worry Obama.
  14. QUOTE(shipps @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 10:56 AM) To be honest even if he past a lie detector test I would still think he did it.Lie detector tests are ancient and obsolete if you ask me. Not to mention the fact he is an ex-cop and probably knows how to beat them.
  15. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 09:22 AM) Sorry but its Clinton Obama McCain Romney McCain is and will be broke unless he opts out of public financing before he receives any actual money. If Clinton pulls ahead nicely and becomes the presumptive nominee before the convention, it'll be the polar opposite of four years ago. Remember this time four years ago and everyone thought Kerry couldn't lose because Bush was so bad? Well then came four months of non stop Bush advertising and Kerry going basically dark because he had no cash to spend til General season. There are boatloads of Republican money sitting on the sidelines, just waiting for a winner to be identified. If McCain emerges, money will come flying at him.
  16. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 06:44 AM) Mike North is on the radio right now telling everyone that he would rather have Bedard over Santana because Santana went 15-13 last year and Bedard went 13-5(on a bad Orioles team). The guy is completely delusional hell just getting Santana away from facing the Indians is going to help that out a ton.
  17. Hopefully he can make the club and stay healthy. That is a good situation for him to be able to use his speed in.
  18. QUOTE(greg775 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 11:39 PM) Best of luck to him, but glad he's gone. Now get rid of MacDougal and Sisco please. Sisco has an option year left as I understand it, which means he will open up at Charlotte as a starter. MacDougal is going to be a 5th/6th inning guy, and for his contract is worth betting on as a comeback candidate, especially when you look at the year to year volatility of relievers.
  19. QUOTE(ptatc @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 09:34 PM) I agree. I would prefer to give Anderson another shot as opposed to him. I would be absolutely shocked if Brian Anderson is even in the White Sox organziation come opening day, let alone on the 25 man roster.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Jan 30, 2008 -> 08:07 AM) http://www.breitbart.com/article.php?id=D8...;show_article=1 John Edwards drops out today. At least he has the decency to get out of the leaders way, either that or one of the leaders gave him a carrot to endorse him at a pivotal time...
  21. I would like nothing more than to choke the next person that I hear use the term "Flash Freeze"
  22. I am thinking a Fred Thompson endorsement for McCain isn't too far behind either.
  23. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 09:15 PM) I might become a Bloomberg fan pretty quick, if he runs. If not, I'll support McCain, though not without some hesitation. Hell I'd consider Ron Paul if it was Romney and Hillary. Then again, I'd probably just write myself in.
  24. I get the sneaking suspicion that Anderson gets traded for someone who doesn't go on the 40 man roster, so that Kenny can sign another starting pitcher off of the scrapheap.
  25. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Jan 29, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) A broken leg isn't a torn ACL or something like that...broken legs don't slow you down. Ask any doctor. Short of a compound fracture, a break is better than a tear.
