  1. When did John Kerry end up on the Supreme Court?
  2. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 09:31 AM) The people who were trying to get stuff in the 1960's have no connection to who runs the show in Iran now. So to accuse these people of seeking nukes when they didn't have a country is disingenuous. You're right there, the Ayatollah won't let someone who has a 180 degree difference in viewpoint hold office but it doesn't mean that people 45-90 degrees apart can't get elected. The guy you fear simply doesn't have the power to do what you fear. Iran has had a nuclear program since the 1960's and has been trying to aquire bomb technology pretty much as long. Just because the current regime wasn't there then, doesn't mean anything. Its like saying what the Kennedy admin did doesn't matter today. Did the Ayatollah come in and completely destroy and get rid of every single iota of nuclear technology and research when they came into power? If not, it does matter, because its not like they just started on the day of the Revolution. Besides the fact remains I never said anything specific to this regime, I stated that Iran has been trying to get a bomb for about 40 years, not the current group in power.

  5. I would ask on the ticket exchange here first. Then try stubhub and Ebay. As a last resort there are always plenty of tickets for sale on the day of the game.

  7. QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 08:16 AM) You baffle me in a way no one else on this board ever has. If you want to agree with the flag burning amendment, while I would disagree with you vehemently, I could respect your position. But it is impossible to enter into any sort of informed debate with you, when you make posts like this. With all due respect, trying to engage in a serious debate with minors is a complete waste of time.
  8. QUOTE(DBAH0 @ Jun 28, 2006 -> 08:09 AM) He's been having control problems, and hasn't been throwing a lot of his pitches for strikes IIRC. Sounds like the Coop reclamation project down to a tee. Yeah it sounds like mechanical problems replicating his delivery on certian pitches. See also Neal Cotts, Jose Contreras, and Matt Thornton.
  9. QUOTE(whitesoxin @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 11:57 PM) Could a Sox pitcher start the game for the 3rd time in 4 years?? I don't see why not. Ozzie has already said that barring something weird, Contreras will be starting this all-star game.
  10. Perez would be an interesting name... What has caused his downfall this year?
  11. Interesting to see Brandon McCarthy used as the 8th inning set up man in a one run game... Hopefully that means good things for the big man.
  12. I predict a lot of pissed off White Sox fans once the rosters are announced. I also think we end up getting someone on via the last player vote ala Pods.
  13. *sigh*. Israel is the poster who can't stand to be one upped. No matter what happens, they are always going to go the extra step. Hopefully this doesn't completely destabilize the region, but then again, what do you do when you have to protect your own in the face of overwealming hatred?
  14. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 06:51 PM) This is completely false. The current regime in Iran took root in 1979 - 27 years ago. Iran's government spent the bulk of its first 9 years fighting Iraq. We know they have been trying to get stuff since the 60's, mostly because we were aiding them. Do you honestly believe that the Ayatolla would let someone into power who was 180 degrees from their own philosophy? They hold way too much power to let someone into office they felt would be leading them down a path that they did not want to go down.
  15. QUOTE(shoota @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 06:09 PM) How did he make his fortune, and are there any good books on his rise? Are you serious?

The table looks like it is going to have to be rebuilt. it is patched for now, but intermitten problems are likely.
  18. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:45 PM) What in IROIran's 26 year history would lead you to believe that Iran is acting in any offensive capacity as a state. Have they funded terror organizations to further their policy goals? Yes. But going nuclear - or providing similar technology as a state to NGO terror groups is a big jump from paying for bombs and mortar shells. It's also the end of the state's existence - and I'm sure that the people in charge in Iran realize that - and won't use their technology so recklessly. The game is as much in play for the people who run Iran as it is for the people who run North Korea. They have a near 40 year history of trying to obtain nuclear technology on the underground market, and through their own research. They are also on record as calling for the distruction of Israel, which has been reiterated by the current President. He is also on record as saying it is his goal to extent the Islamic revolution around the world, and not just the middle east or Israel. Ahmadinejad has also been connected to the kidnapping of the American's in 1980. Its also been said that Ahmadinejad believes that it is his duty in life to hasten the return of Mahdi, and that he is to do whatever he can to aid in those things that must occur before Madhi can return. The big one is the destruction of Israel. To me Il is just a power hungry nut-job who wants his little kingdom and to be left alone. Ahmadinejad is a man who KNOWS that it is his mission in life to aid in the coming judgement of mankind. Yes I fully believe he wants nuclear technology to destroy the US and Israel, but mostly Israel.
  19. There is a quote in the Chic Trib today from Dombrowski that they are NOT working on a deal for Abreu FWIW.
  20. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:33 PM) Southsider, North Korea and Iran have the same game. My feeling is that Iran is working for nukes in a purely defensive measure. By all accounts, there will most likely be a semi-permanent US presence in the Middle East, and Iran feels threatened by it. Just judging by recent history, I completely disagree with you. I think NK is playing a game with us, while there isn't a doubt in my mind that Iran has offensive purposes up its sleeve and that is why they are pursuing nuclear technology.
  21. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:31 PM) Nope, I am saying if you tar one, you should tar them all. The LA Times and the NYT story broke at the same time, on Friday. Im not actually sure that the NY Times story made it in print on Friday, but rather on the web instead about mid morning. The LAT and NYT are owned by different companies. Isn't the LAT owned by the Tribco?
  22. QUOTE(Soxy @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 02:18 PM) I think he's not donating like 7 billion dollars. I was just going to say that... I think the kids will be OK. Plus not all of the money Buffett is donating is going to the Gates Foundation, a good chunk of change is going to his kids and grandkids own charitable orgainizations.
  23. QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jun 26, 2006 -> 10:35 PM) I love how everyone mentions the New York Times and neglects the LA Times, and the more conservative Wall Street Journal gets a pass... And now those who say they want to defend our freedom are calling for restricting the press. Isn't this the "Clinton did it too" defense that gets blown off when used by a Republician? I thought we weren't supposed to use that as a valid arguement anymore? QUOTE(Soxbadger @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 01:24 PM) My only post is, Whatever you want for the NYT, you better want the same for the Wall Street Journal. So if you want to put the death blow on basically the preeminent financial newspaper in the US, go ahead. The WSJ is so not needed in today's instant news world it isn't even funny. By the time something hits print there, it has been factored into the major world markets for hours. Besides I don't get that line of thought anyways, if someone does something wrong, should they not get the punishment just because it is harsh? I don't think either paper deserves to be punished for what happened, but the arguement just doesn't hold water for me personally.
  24. QUOTE(SoxAce @ Jun 27, 2006 -> 12:32 AM) And he's the one who said Ozzie has issues.. The chair must not have shook hands with him...
