  1. Asleep at the Wheel.
  2. Look, if that little money is going to turn a guy into someone who doesn't try very hard, they were never going to be a truly great player anyway. After all, the BIG money is still out there for all of them in their free agent contracts. None of them will get to free agency as an old man, so there are hundreds of millions of dollars still waiting for these guys if they were to hit up to their potential. While 70/80 million is nice, it isn't $200 or $300 million.
  3. I don't see anything about Mieses that would make a team put him on a major league roster for a year.
  4. Just like the manager, except less random.
  5. Forget it, he's rolling.
  6. You notice we played our best baseball RIGHT after he came here. The longer he has been here, the worse it has gotten. Literally everything about this team has gone downhill since Tony got here.
  7. The hiring of Tony LaRussa. Everything went to shit after he was hired.
  8. FutureSox posted yesterday that they didn't have as much money as Oakland to offer him, but offered him $2.5m.
  9. I said it right before the deadline and will say it again. This team wasn't worth significantly adding to at the deadline unless we got long term talent, and I am glad we didn't waste resources chasing at rental. Rick Hahn's best move this year was no acting like this team had a chance to win at the deadline.
  10. Soxtalk has decided to become like the White Sox and just hit the IL for a while after playing down a couple of guys most of the season.
  11. Snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.
  12. The Sox system has lacked depth even when it was at its best. We seem like we would rather have an extra A type of guy, versus a lot of C's and a few B's to see who emerges.
  13. The playoffs were just spectacular.
  14. I do agree on the latter. He came out of no where and kind of had a junkballer delivery which fooled people for a while IIRC>
  15. Wasn't that Boone Logan, or did Ehren have the same kind of thing happen?
  16. I didn't even realize now much the defense had killed Giolito. I don't know what the leaders in spread between ERA and defensive adjusted ERA is, but 1.12 runs of difference, if it isn't the leader, has to be damned close. This year the MLB league average era is 3.97 current, so while we are talking about a drop off from last year of about 3/4 of a run, we are no longer talking about almost 2 runs worse, which is a huge difference. All of the ridiculous hyperbole about non-tendering Lucas is misguided. Get the guy a real defense, and he should be back to normal.

This is just as much of job creation as any of the other tax incentive programs we give to people of way higher incomes. Honestly it is probably higher because the spending levels of the income groups who have student loans aren't going to be the really rich families who have the highest savings rates either.
  18. records since trade deadline Sox 12-10 Padres 10-12
  19. The Moncada double play was as skilled of a defensive play as you will see by a 3B. He reaction, hands, and throw were all perfect, if not the play doesn't happen.
  20. 15 times a year? Abreu doing the Minnie Minoso plan?
  21. TLR spend the entire season proving he was right about the Sox not needing home field by tanking at home. 4D chess.
