Bud Selig isn't a real commish anyway. All he is, is leader of the owners and that is the way he runs the game. That is why the game has slipped so much in his tenure, he doesn't have the best interests of the game at heart, he has the best interests of the owners.

Like I have said before with as few starts as we need out of our 5th starter, I would just assume hold onto our minor leaguers and use someone like Dan Wright as the starter, and then the long man out of the pen, when he isn't starting.

The good thing about Marte is that he is good against Righties too. His numbers are actually better against right handers. That slider of his moving in on the hands is an almost impossible pitch to hit hard.

He said in the Trib today that he covered it up when he went into the Sox clubhouse to meet the guys for the first time saying that he didn't want the guys to get the wrong impression. Glad to hear he doesn't have a chip on his shoulder and is trying to be cool with everyone.

Magglio update. How hot has he been? Here are some numbers... He has a ten game hitting streak going, including 8 straight games with at least 2 HITS! During that streak he is hitting .641 (!!!) with 4 HR's 15 RBI and 8 doubles. Since his average fell to .267 on June 11th he has raised his average 60 POINTS to his high water mark of 2003 of .327 today. In the month of July Maggs is hitting .450 with 7 HR's 24 RBI 13 doubles he has a .495 OBP, .810 SLG for an OPS of 1.305!!! POTM should be a given. If he stays even in the same area code of hottness for the rest of the year, we could be talking MVP.

I wonder if the wind has shifted again on this one too?
