  1. I'd take a lockout if it would stop these posts...
  2. They won 10 more games than the previous season and saw the debut Eloy. If you have proof the extra 40k was sold during the winter, I'd love to see it.
  3. I guess I don't believe Sox fans are this dumb and gullible and their attendance history backs me up.
  4. And this was because they talked to Machado for months? Lol, you can't seriously think Sox fans are that dumb.
  5. No Sox fan does this. They are some of the biggest bandwagon fans around. They don't show up until the winning starts. This has been true for decades. No rumor of a negotiation is going to move Sox fans to jump in. After a signing? Maybe, depending on how big. I literally didn't see a single person who bought anything because the MIGHT get Machado. The second part is literally not true.
  6. Who is buying tickets based on negotiations with a player? What would have happened if Machado said yes?
  7. No one is wasting months of resources on something this dumb. It's one thing to "make an offer". It is quite another to spend months negotiating so that they can purposefully fail in order to somehow declare victory. Because somehow Sox management got the idea that people in February would say "HOLY SHIT, we finished 2nd in the Machado bidding! I am going to buy some season tickets now. I mean if they had finished 3rd in the Machado bidding, no way, but second? They must be serious!" And they played this game with Machado and his agent for four months, knowing if they found out it could damage future dealings with both the agent and other players, but it was worth it, because 2nd generates ticket sales. I want to know who went out and bought tickets after the Machado failure. Now I say this knowing the gravity of this statement, but this might be your most ridiculous argument on Soxtalk so far.
  8. You keep using that word, I don't think it means what you think it means.
  9. You honestly believe they wasted resources that they could have used doing literally anything else that winter to help the team, so they could somehow win a PR campaign by intentionally failing AND you still call yourself a fan of a team that you believe would do that. I just need to not respond.
  10. Do you really think they wasted months of negotations to intentionally come up short? That is ludicrous.
  11. I am thinking this happened really early, like the GM meetings or winter meetings. Then after that we never talked to him again. Like I said it is fuzzy, and I could be wrong here.
  12. It was 8 years and at a higher AAV, so you can say it wasn't the "highest" offer, but it was serious and it was the leading offer in the clubhouse until almost spring training. This isn't like the Astros offering Correa 5/160 at free agency knowing he will double that.
  13. Any word that the Sox have interest here?
  14. Didn't they put out a preliminary type offer to Harper? Or am I misremembering that?
  15. I will say three things here. #1 the Sox apparently don't get credit for targeting Burnes in your world. #2, My ability to evaluate talent and the Sox ability to evaluate talent are two different subjects, and shouldn't be falsely equated. As you probably know, I am not being paid by the White Sox to bring in talent. #3, if you are still that upset over an internet discussion from a year ago, that's too bad. Personally I had forgotten about it.
  16. I really think a deal like this is how Dallas leaves Chicago. The Cano for Dallas thing just sticks with me.
