  1. You can't go after people like this for their opinions.
  2. Gosswein is unrated and a senior, so we might be seeing the beginning of some costs savings going on here.
  3. Brooks Gosswein LHP, College senior.
  4. Let's be honest here, now that the ASG is literally meaningless, why not let Ohtani start? Sure there are guys who have been better, but is Carlos Rodon really going to get millions of extra people tuning into the game? With no value on this game, the entire value becomes selling MLB to the rest of the world and the broadest audience possible. I imagine Rodon and Lynn understand that pretty well.
  5. Another guy rated way higher than the spot he was picked. MLB had him at 75, BA 53rd.
  6. FutureSox has your back https://www.futuresox.com/2021/07/09/2021-draft-preview-wes-kath-3b/
  7. Very similar to last year where we essentially got two first round talent picks, and gave up dollars late to do it.
  8. Also needs a late 80's Cubs player reference.
  9. Wow, he hit .258 this year.
  10. Two top picks so far, will be interesting to see when the under slot guys start coming in to pay for them.
  11. Two HS position players in the first two picks. Let's go!
  12. Hand and shoulder injuries this year.
  13. Moncada has also played through some obvious power sapping injuries the last two years, and is still putting up top numbers at 3B. He also has already put up real MLB power numbers.
  14. Going to guess that since we have been connected to the kid since Day 1, both camps already have a number in mind, and he will sign fairly quickly. I have to imagine he starts and plays in AZ this year, and next year in Kanny.
  15. Burger has no where NEAR the ceiling that Yoan has. You might be able to quibble about how close to that ceiling that Yo will get, but let's not lose track of the fact that Burger is a pretty physically limited player who has had two MAJOR injuries already himself. I really do think Burger will be a very good hitter at the MLB level, but I don't see him having a superstar upside like Yoan does.
  16. Sheets and Burger are both trading block guys. They don't have any position to feed into at the major league level for the next few years, and they also allow a team trading for them to look like they are getting guys ready to step in today. You don't have to trade them, but they are easy guys to move out in a deal because the Sox won't miss them, and the other team will get near ready talent.
  17. Looking at some of his highlights, he seems to have really long arm action in his swing. It kind of reminds me of how Adam Engel looked when he first got here, before he shortened up.
  18. Seeing as the Sox already took a stab at Del Castillo, I wonder if that is a name to watch.
  19. Will be interesting to see how this happens today. The Sox pretty much got a slot pick in Montgomery, so if they have a overslot in mind later, they will need to save money on the back end of the last 10 rounds to make it happen. Also with only 20 rounds, they don't have as many chances to slide iffy high school picks back into the later rounds like they had been over the last five years to bring in guys like Bush, Glass, etc.
  20. There is zero chance that happens here. The Sox get pretty deep into the woods and they have been connected to this kid for quite a while now.
