  1. What's crazy is that Moncada's Line Drive percentage is actually up 8 full percentage points this year, (30.5% vs 22.5 LY, and 23.1% in 19) so he is making quality contact more often this year. This exit velocity is up this year over last year (90 vs 87.8), but decently down vs 19 (93.1). The mechanics are there for an explosive second half if he gets past the injuries nagging him.
  2. Its probably a combination of a new baseball doing what it was meant to do, the loss of key home run hitters, and nagging injuries to the hitters who have remained sapping a bit of power. I think the all-star break, plus the infusion of a healthy Eloy and Robert will fix a lot of the problems. I am WAY more worried about the pitching holding up to the innings load than I am the power numbers.
  3. The Sox absolutely created room for some more high school picks today, plus they still have the extra 5% overage to add to it. Between those two flows, they could have up to an extra 600 to 700,000 dollars to spend. They could in theory put together almost a million dollars to one player, depending on how the spending from Day 2 works out.
  4. Well since asking didn't work, now Moncada hot takes has it's own thread. Please throw Moncada related feces here.
  5. Back to the original topic, minus unrelated hot takes.
  6. Can we keep the Moncada hot takes to one thread?
  7. The last 5 are all college seniors. So is the 4th rounder
  8. https://www.axios.com/covid-vaccines-low-income-poor-workers-58698275-0451-4158-a967-37189dbf673c.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=editorial&utm_content=health-vaccination
  9. He probably read it somewhere else.
  10. Here is a wild guess at bonuses in the top 10.
  11. He is WAY better at 2nd than Burger. While below average overall, he was still one of the top OOZ guys there. Meanwhile what have YOU actually shown that Burger is better?
  12. Yeah, you really have to understand how the math works here. Also look around baseball. Pretty much all of MLB picked players exactly the same way.
  13. First off, Yoan Moncada is a gold glove caliber 3B. He's 7th in all of baseball in 3B fangraphs defensive rating, and 7th in UZR/150. He was 4th in both last year. So yes, I am going to going ahead and proclaim Yoan Moncada a defensive guru. He already played multiple spots, playing a MUCH better 2B than Burger did (remember they wouldn't even let him play it daily at AAA?), also coming through baseball while playing a respectable SS, but was moved off because of the players in front of him in Boston In Xander Boegarts, and then Tim Anderson is Chicago. Yeah, if you want a flex on Yoan, you might have an argument on the power stuff, but defensively? No. No way.
  14. Sox last 5 picks, and 6 of the last 7, were either Seniors, or 5th year Seniors. There is your cost savings. Will be really interesting to see what HS kids they are target early tomorrow.
  15. This thread is for reporting signings and draft picks. I will add the other 10 picks tomorrow, but in the meantime as players sign please post them in this thread, and the very first post in this thread will updated with signing totals to be able to track the draft allotment spending in one easy place.
  16. Tommy Sommer SR out of IU, LHP
  17. Darren Baker picked by the Nats.
