He is the biggest strikeout starter on the team.

On the replay, it looked like he bobbled the ball and Grudzielanek wasn't covering 1B. Wasn't all his fault. I thought he could go home though.

Every pitch Vazquez threw to him was over the heart of the plate though. Terrible sequence of pitches.

Nice lollipop throw by Podsednik there to let Sweeney score easily.

Sox vs. Kansas City, 4/08/06, Vazquez vs. Bautista
Yeah, that was pretty nasty but he needs to at least swing the bat and try to foul off close pitches though.

Anderson's second called third strike of the day.

Anderson has to swing the bat with a 2 strike count. Wow.

All you need to know is -- 3 straight whiffs by a mile.

IBB Sweeney. No reason to pitch to him here.

That was one of the ugliest AB's I have ever seen.

Backup Outfielders and now Relievers
The main problem is that we don't have a righty outfielder who can play decent defense. Ozuna is a butcher out there. Mackowiak is terrible against lefties. Gload is also a lefty and Ozzie doesn't seem to want to play him in the outfield anyways. So it's either Podsednik or Ozuna against lefty starters.

Backup Outfielders and now Relievers
The problem last night was not having a right-handed outfielder who could play defense better than Ozuna. Sweeney is a lefty. We should stick Gload in LF before we stick Sweeney there.

Blow this team up!
How about a "Gload bomb"? The only problem is that it will sit harmlessly in the dugout because Ozzie will never go near it.

Blow this team up!
They should be better but will they? 1.) I think Pierzynski has gotten homer happy at the Cell. He needs to stop swinging at the dirtballs and trying to pull everything. He hits a ton of weak grounders right to the first baseman. 2.) Crede has been relatively the same hitter the past three seasons. He is right around the age of his peak years but will he be better? No one knows for sure but stay tuned. 3.) The last time I saw Uribe at the plate, he didn't appear to be using his leg kick timing mechanism anymore. Not good. 4.) Anderson is a rookie. Obviously, we can't expect him to do too much this season. If he replaces Rowand's numbers from last season, great. You can't just look at second half season stats. Many of these guys are simply streaky hitters. They don't consistently hit well because they just aren't great hitters to begin with. Strike zone discipline is the main reason they go into long slumps. None of them have any.

take it easy on ozzie
Did you watch the past two games?

Blow this team up!
He is the X-factor. If he pitches to his true abilities, he will probably make up for any possible regression from our other starters. I don't know what El Duque's and McCarthy's combined stats were as our 5th starter last season but it can't be all that great (due to El Duque).
