  1. Greinke isn't even with the Royals right now.
  2. Knights win 1-0. Javier Lopez's line: 1.0 IP, 1 H, 0 ER, 2 K, Save
  3. Go Blue Jays! 2-1 over the Twins in the 4th inning now.
  4. I can see why they use lefties against Rogowski now. He looks terrible against them.
  5. First game of the season. The hitters still have to catch up with the pitchers. Josh Fields is 2 for 4 with 2 singles.
  6. Both Jenks and McCarthy will probably be around for awhile, unless Jenks completely stops throwing strikes. Iguchi will likely be here for at least two more seasons (he has a cheap 2007 team option).
  7. Ryan Sweeney: 0 for 4, 3 strikeouts
  8. Paulino Reynoso in for Tim Redding in the 7th inning. Tim Redding's line: 6.0 IP, 4 H, 0 ER, 7 K
  9. http://www.ares-server.com/Ares/Ares.asp?M...Department&ID=3
  10. Tim Redding is dominating, lol. His curve looks pretty good. Jerry Owens is playing CF.
  11. Westbrook isn't really a fluke. He's just the same type of pitcher as Garland. He's a groundballer who needs help from his defense. He's a good #4 starter, just like Garland. Their career numbers are even eerily similar... Jake Westbrook (career stats): 4.39 ERA | 1.37 WHIP | .273 BAA | 4.85 K/9 Jon Garland (career stats): 4.42 ERA | 1.38 WHIP | .265 BAA | 4.92 K/9 If Westbrook is a fluke, then so is Garland. But Cliff Lee has only had one good season which was last year. Who knows if he's the real deal or not.
  12. I don't think you really want to see Freddy's numbers against the Royals. He pitches to his competition.
  13. So far it looks like the Cardinals have turned another scrub into gold and his name is The Amazing Aaron Miles.
  14. Looks like his streak could be over unless he gets one more AB. Rowand batting second today = brutal. He's 0 for 4 with 3 K's.
  15. Rob Mackowiak (career stats vs. lefties): 217 AB | .244 AVG | .301 OBP | .382 SLG | .683 OPS There's a reason Mackowiak only has 217 career AB's against lefties -- because he isn't good at hitting them. It really wouldn't be tough to find a righty-hitting outfielder who could just hit lefties better than Mackowiak. Mackowiak's value is in his defensive versatility first and foremost and then his stick against righties but he's definately one of the last guys on the team you want facing lefties. Just for a comparison, Neifi Perez hits lefties better than Mackowiak.
  16. I would take the White Sox rotation over the Red Sox rotation all day long. But I think I would take the Red Sox bullpen over our current bullpen. Lenny DiNardo Keith Foulke Jonathan Papelbon David Riske Rudy Seanez Julian Tavarez Mike Timlin
  17. Devil Rays DL Julio Lugo; Release RHP Jesus Colome; Sign veteran INF Tomas Perez; Recall RHP Scott Dunn; Acquire RHP Marcos Carvajal from Seattle
  18. I think they almost HAVE to be better just because of how putrid they were last season. 2005 Red Sox: 24th ranked pitching staff in MLB 19th ranked starting rotation in MLB 29th ranked bullpen in MLB
  19. Sox, Cubs respond to Sun-Times column http://chicago.whitesox.mlb.com/cws/downlo...006/soxcubs.pdf
  20. Other options would start with Javier Lopez I'm sure. And then if Lopez doesn't work, maybe Ozzie will realize that you don't always have to play the lefty/lefty matchup game. You can just use one of your good righty relievers. I doubt this happens though. Ozzie loves the lefty/lefty matchup far too much. Who said that Cotts only had to face Hafner? Bring him in to face Hafner and more.
  21. Agreed, you go for the win with the reliever that will give you your best chance to win. That would have been Cotts in today's situation. You don't worry about keeping a certain reliever available for possible extra innings.
  22. He should have signed with the Rockies. He could have actually made their roster.
