Don't waste your time. You're not good enough for her if you can't show a little respect for her parents or her parents' beliefs. 10 years from now you'll look back and realize how immature you were being.

QUOTE(ROC Sox Fan @ May 22, 2007 -> 12:04 AM) Might as well spend it back on the Sox. A Danks jersey is a nice long term investment from where I sit. A McCarthy jersey was a nice long term investment a year ago.

QUOTE(daa84 @ May 18, 2007 -> 12:22 PM) here is why I think the sox and cubs are the biggest rivals..... if detroit sucks next year, nobody gets pumped up about a sox vs. tigers series the cubs can be horrible, and every year the crosstown series is a huge deal just because the sox and _____ (fill in the blank AL Central team) are battling it out for 1st in the AL central doesn't necessarily make them big time rivals. Put the cubs in the AL central and its not even close. The only one i could see is cleveland because at least that has some history to it. That is at least my definition of a rivalry....wanting to beat the other team, because beating the other team brings joy to your day, and not necessarily soley for benefit of the standings I agree and I'll add to say that I regularly speak to exactly 1 Minnesota, Cleveland and Detroit fan combined. On the other hand, I see at work and in my private life dozens upon dozens of Cubs fans. Just the other day a guy ran out of gas in front of my house. He asked if I was a Cubs or Sox fan. When I told him he said he'd take the gas anyway. I said I'd give it to him anyway. He didn't ask if I was an Indians fan or a Twins fan. We had a good laugh and talked baseball as I was pouring gas in his tank. It was fun. (And only cost me $7 for the 2 gallons I gave him) A rivalry, IMO, has to do with the game or series that is most intense. The Cleveland, Detroit and Minnesota series just don't match up. Maybe someday they will, but I doubt it.

QUOTE(NorthSideSox72 @ May 18, 2007 -> 10:42 AM) I actually agree with the 37%. I don't obsess over the Cubs like some, and I'll even catch a game occasionally at Wrigley. And our games against DET/MIN/CLE are indeed more important to the season. But I agree that the Cubs are our single biggest rivalry. I guess I'm a moron. I'm a moron too, NS. I agree 100%. The Cubs are the biggest, but it doesn't mean they are the most important.

QUOTE(Iwritecode @ May 21, 2007 -> 12:23 PM) I'm always amazed by this. What's the point? This guy is actually going to try and say he didn't do anything wrong? So he can get treatment, of course.

While, I've never taken my dog and don't think I ever would put up with dragging her around all night, I LOVE the idea of dog day - It reaks of Bill Veeck and keeping those kinds of crazy promotions alive and makes it worth not having fireworks for one night.

QUOTE(kyyle23 @ May 12, 2007 -> 10:14 AM) If I remember right, the biggest difference is that Softball/baseball(stop/start activity) is an Anaerobic sport vs running as an Aerobic(continuous movement/activity) sport(If I am using the wrong term, forgive me, I think we learned that stuff in gym class in high school). Going from standing still to a full sprint continuously just wears on my groin and hamstring muscles. You passed up free Beer? I just dont know you like I thought I did..... There was more free beer at the end. I chose to hurry to that instead.
-
kyyle, I still get sore from softball. You use diffeerent muscles. Thanks everyone. I almost forgot. Miller Lite had a booth set up at Mile 10 and were handing out cups of beer. Yes, you heard me right. I passed it up and decided to wait until after. The smell around that booth was nasty on a 75 degree day!!

Yes, STEPmother. I don't think they ever got along very well. There's talk of him going to RCR and driving his Dad's #3.

I finished my first half marathon last Saturday. My official time was 1:58:53 (a 9:05 pace). I was hoping to beat 1:50, but was a little overwhelmed by the amount of runners (38,000+) and the humidity was high. I had a great time and can't wait to do it again next year. This was the Indianapolis Mini Marathon. It's a blast! They have 120 bands and entertainers along the route and you run a complete lap around the Indianapolis Motor Speedway (Really cool!). I would definitely recommend it for any runner. As many of you know, I ran in high school and gained about 90 pounds since then. In January 2006, at 235 pounds, I decided enough was enough and got back to running - I grew in love with it again and I have lost 44 pounds to date. As for my earlier hopes of running the Chicago Marthon - I missed the signup date and will try to get in next year. I thought about running a different one, but if I only run one in my life I want it to be Chicago! Pictures

My buddy's Grandfather-in-law was over at his house and was wearing one. He was in the area from Arizona and he's 80+ years old. WTH do you need that for, old man? You're 80! No one's going to call you! (Except maybe the Grim Reaper.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ May 7, 2007 -> 12:43 PM) Closet FZ fans everywhere. Does my heart good. When I was about 10 my Uncle would out the album on and let us listen while he went into his bedroom. I have no idea what he did in there. -

QUOTE(BigSqwert @ Apr 17, 2007 -> 09:43 AM) Really? If that person pulled out their gun what if others thought that he/she was part of the shooting spree and they decided to shoot at that person. Wouldn't chaos ensue? How do you know who the good guy is when you hear shots being fired and you see someone holding a gun down the hallway? Do you just shoot at anyone holding a gun? Where do we draw the line? A crazed shooting can occur anywhere not just at a school. Should people bring guns to Chuck E Cheese for their kid's birthday party in case a crazed gunman comes by? The responsible person pulls out their gun, kills the shooter, calls 911 and walks out of the building. Edit: I know it's not this simple. I'm just trying to give these kids a fighting chance, damnit. They didn't have that yesterday.

One more gun in the hands of a responsible person on that campus would have stopped this.
