Social Security Checks
Tex and Jim should chime in on this subject. I'm sure they know all about Social Security payments.

New Years Eve Plans
New Year's Eve is for ametuers. I get plenty of drinking done the other 364 days. I have to rest up for my binge drinking in Vegas beginning Feb 6 anyway.

Which Presidential Candidate would you want to have a beer with?
QUOTE(southsideirish71 @ Dec 24, 2007 -> 02:07 AM) Kucinich definitely. Back in Ireland if you catch one, they usually have to tell you were their pot of gold is. One beer = rich. I was going to say some kind of sexist comment about wanting Hillary to serve me the beer, but I think this comment is the winner. Congratulations!

Worst headline ever
QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 10:47 AM) It IS the New York Post...I laughed, but I feel guilty about it. LOL Same here.

Happy Birthday SS2K5
Most birthday notices come down from the "stickies" the next day. Why are you so damned special to still have it up here two days later?

Mitchell Report Thread
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Dec 13, 2007 -> 02:58 PM) I have never had a deeper man love for Frank than I do on this day. If I had opening day Blue Jays tickets for next year, I would applaud that man until my hands fell off. You say that, but have Barry Bonds in a White Sox uniform in your sig? If I'm missing something, I apologize. That being said, amen. A-freaking-men!

Going to Vegas For the First Time
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Dec 12, 2007 -> 12:27 PM) Those are great lists Jason! A couple more things to tack on, the top of the stratosphere is a great view of everything, and not too expensive, plus the roller coaster up there is neat. Also the pirate show at Treasure Island is legendary. Finally skip anything Cirque De Soule if you are a straight male. The TI show has changed to "The Sirens of TI". It's notoriously terrible! I think it's dark right now for maintenance, anyway. Cheap drinks: $1 Michelobs at Casino Royal
- Happy Birthday SS2K5

South Shore/car accident
Wow! The day I decide to be "sick." Alpha, I heard once that train engineers have the highest suicide rate of any job.

What does everyone want for Christmas?
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Dec 3, 2007 -> 10:21 PM) I get to go to Vegas in March. That's all I need, baby! Oh, and a pinball machine. I'm going Feb 6. I just want peace on earth and goodwill toward men. Actullay, I could use some Under Armour running gear.

Pet peeves....
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 02:44 PM) I've had "The Big Red" car in my head for days... "Toot, toot, chugga chugga, Big Red Car..." You're welcome.

Any thespians?
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Nov 21, 2007 -> 11:53 AM) I played "The messanger" who Annie mistakes as Frank... that was freshman year. In The Wizard of Oz" I was "Joe, A Farmhand". I only had two lines, but I got the first laugh of the play!
-
Any thespians?
Small roll in Wizard of Oz my sophomore year and the male lead in "Annie Get Your Gun" my senior year. I loved it. There's a small group that just started up in town a few years ago. I keep telling myself that I'm going to get back into it, but life always gets in the way.

Snow Tires
People still use snow tires? Wow! That'd be a real pain, but I think it'd be easier than switching my mower deck for the plw on my John Deere every fall and spring. It takes a couple hours and you have to guess the weather patterns - I've mowed as late as Dec 7 and as early as mid Feb. At least if you put the snow tires on a bit early you can still drive. You just look like a dork is all.

Pet peeves....
The Wiggles aren't so bad. Not as abd as the Teletubbies and Barney. My kids like Tom and Jerry too. And The Jetsons, The Smurfs, The Snorks, Cartoon Olympics, all that good stuff Boomerang shows.

Man shoots burglars while on phone with cops
QUOTE(Texsox @ Nov 16, 2007 -> 04:18 PM) I'm shocked this is in Texas. But it will stop people from breaking into houses. Swift justice and all. The 7 minutes he was on the phone waiting for the police to show up worked real well too, huh?

Brooks interview with MLB.Com
QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Nov 15, 2007 -> 08:39 AM) That interview is a perfect nutshell of why I love Brooks Boyer. He is perfectly honest, and doesn't insult the intelligence of the fans by spewing company line BS. This guy is so incredible, and the Sox are lucky to have him. And you like his tight butt, too.

Movies that were as good as, or better than, the book
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Nov 13, 2007 -> 01:26 PM) You are certifiably insane. The Potter films are fun enough, and I understand the need to take certain liberties to streamline the storyline into 2 hour installments. But they don't hold a candle to the books. Amen! When I was think of movie / book combos this came to mind and I immediately said, "No way!" If you want the worst movie made from a book I would say "1984". The movie started about 4/5 of the way into the book and never made you identify or feel for the characters.

Movies that were as good as, or better than, the book
The Shawshank Redemption. Granted, it was just a short story and not a whole book, but...
