Bulls do not hire Doug Collins as head coach
mreye replied to thedoctor's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
Wow. I like it. -
QUOTE (LVSoxFan @ May 28, 2008 -> 10:19 AM) If I'm not mistaken, the other two were in back-to-back games. One was by Uribe and I can't remember who screwed up the other one. After the second one in as many games, Hawk of course started going Hawk-wild. DJ even said this is stuff a high school team would do. But that was a pretty big mental error by Paulie, for a veteran. I think you're right. They were in very early April. I remember commenting that I had never seen a rundown so bad - even in my softball league.

Sox May 31 game will be blacked out - for the first hour!
mreye replied to Al Lopez's Ghost's topic in Pale Hose Talk
A concert booking that same night? This makes little sense. That's 6:05 ET, right? The game gets ovetr at 9:00 if they're lucky. Everyone's out of there by 9:30/9:45. Does this concert start at 10:00? -
Just an FYI...You can drink in any state park in Indiana except The Dunes. Illinois is about the opposite. We camped behind a bar near Starved Rock just because of this. We actually had a good time. Yes, camping is about drinking beer.

Would you throw out the First Pitch at Wrigley?
mreye replied to JoeBatterz's topic in Pale Hose Talk
There's a 5K in Wrigleyville and part of the course runs through the park. While it's a "cool" oppurtunity to run on a storied ball park, I would never do it, and I wouldn't do this. JoeBatterz said it perfectly. -
QUOTE (jackie hayes @ May 16, 2008 -> 09:31 AM) So, you're imagining women who fake a rape, store the evidence in one of these boxes, and then go to the innocent guy and tell him to cough up the money or else it'll be opened up? That's the only way I can make sense of this... I somewhat doubt that's a real concern... Nope, not at all.

My curent softball contract does not allow me to play recreationally. I'll talk to my agent to see what kind of appearance fee we would need. Set the date. I'll see what I can do.

Whew!

My DL is Indiana is good for 6 years. 6 YEARS! All this talk about the logistics of taking an entire retirement community to the DMV is moot. As bad as it sounds, how many of them will make it that long in the home and even when they do it's a single trip per person per 6 years. I think an ID card, as opposed to DL is good for longer.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 28, 2008 -> 07:56 AM) While there may be some differences between the north and south sides, with so many fans coming from the suburbs and all over, the gene pool for Cubs, Sox, Hawk, Bulls, and Bears fans are about the same. Say it ain't so, Tex. Say it ain't so.

They don't have to allow tailgaiting, do they? It's a priveledge. Treat it that way.

Indiana / North Carolina primary election thread
mreye replied to southsider2k5's topic in The Filibuster
I actually got a polling call last night, but they didn't ask any "National" questions. They asked which way I lean and how likely I am to vote in the primary, then favorable / unfavorable on Daniels and the 3 Republicans vying for District 15 State Rep, one of which is my former boss. -
QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Apr 24, 2008 -> 06:17 AM) I have already run for local office on my own. If I was approached by someone who was willing and able to give me support for office at a higher level I would definately listen. I probably would say no (and already have to running for the same office I did previously) because of the age of my kids, but in a few years, I would almost definately do it. Maybe with that support they could teach you how to spell "definitely" as well.

No Wrigley Field?

16 X $15 = $240 Cake, favors, pizza and soda for over $750!! Did she get each kid an Ipod? Our kids' parties are in the heated garage or in the yard. We get a cake at the supermarket and favors and goodie bags at the dollar store. I'll bet we spend less than $150 for everything and that includes a 12 pack of beer for me to be able to put up with a bunch of screaming girls!

QUOTE (southsideirish71 @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 11:33 AM) New Rule: Listening to a anti-catholic bigot like Bill Mahr who believes that chickens and dogs should live over people is dumb. "To those people who say, `My father is alive because of animal experimentation,' I say `Yeah, well, good for you. This dog died so your father could live.' Sorry, but I am just not behind that kind of trade off." -Bill Maher, PeTA celebrity spokesman Also bringing the catholics into the FLDS story is akin to Mariotti bringing up the Ligue incident when describing the Cubs throwing crap on their field. My church has problems, and the priests who poke kids should be excommunicated and locked with with the key thrown away, but I am sick and tired of having my religion raked over the coals and brought in as a side cart comedy act when another church is brought up. Thank you.

QUOTE (Texsox @ Apr 19, 2008 -> 06:55 AM) They should post a warning that these ranking are for amusement only. For over one hundred years they best ranking of a team can be found in the newspaper, it is called the standings. And last I checked, we're the top in the AL Central. At this point in the season, no other ranking really matters. These are fun to look at, but debate them???

Oops, just saw the thread on it. I've had a couple drinks tonight. -
Eric Collins sitting in for Stoney in Tampa series
mreye replied to palehose23's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I don't know if it's been addressed. I went through most of the game thread and didn't see it. Where's Stoney tonight? And who's that filling in? I only got to listen to moments of the game on radio and can't listen anymore - (AM doesn't work in the house and the wife went to work with the keys to the van) I heard Stone and Farmio talking about driving from Cleveland to Detroit and from Detroit to Chicago. Does he not fly? If so, I figured I would have heard this by now. -
I didn't feel it, but my wife felt the earth move last night.
-
I didn;t feel like reading all 5 pages, but looking at the poll results I agree with all of it.

Has he ever been suspended before?

I'm sorry. I was out of town this weekend. What did he do?
