  1. I know it's cliche, but it's Lesser of Two Evils for me. The only thing that's changed with the debates is I'm even more convinced that John McCain doesn't have a single Conservative bone in his body. Prior, I thought (naively) that there might be a chance. I'll still vote for him, but I'll do so with my nose plugged. More important to me are my Reps and Governor.
  2. Judging by all the "How do I talk to a girl?" and "Should I ask a girl to go on a date?" threads, no one here needs to worry about this.
  3. QUOTE (Princess Dye @ Oct 14, 2008 -> 11:06 AM) I read this about Illinois laws on ticket reselling. Does this mean selling tickets on ebay is legal in Illinois? Illinois • Allows ticket resale by registered ticket brokers, Internet auction houses, and Internet websites No. But you could sell them through Stubhub or the like.
  4. QUOTE (lostfan @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 10:33 AM) Actually it really wasn't until around that time when a good friend of mine actually sat me down and told me in a non-condescending way what conservatives are all about. Up to that point, I really didn't know, it's not really something that's taught in school. So what used to annoy me about Fox wasn't so much partisan politics and Democrat-bashing (although that was kind of annoying, for it to be so one-sided), it was stuff like O'Reilly bashing Ludacris when he clearly has no clue what he's talking about or Hannity making thinly veiled, borderline racist statements. I learned to tune all that out. And what exactly are Conservatives "all about?"
  5. I really enjoy it when the "entire" stadium gets up on 2 strikes, but I don't give anybody a hard time if they don't. Now, if you would have been like the guy I sat in front of at Soldier Field and telling them to sit down, that's uncool. By the way, that guy told us to sit down while we were chearing a Thomas Jones touchdown!
  6. QUOTE (TLAK @ Oct 10, 2008 -> 06:31 AM) By your measure the 1950 White Sox were the slowest of all time, 47 triples and 19 SB. The 2008 team would rank 3rd slowest. However, triples are harder to come by at US Cellular than they were at old Comiskey. If you count 3B + 2B + SB per game the '50 team is still the slowest but the '08 team drops to 40th. The fastest post WWII teams were 2000 (325 2B, 33 3B, 119 SB) and 1983 (270, 42, 165). There are old time teams that double these numbers but it was a different game in those days. Should "we" add bunt singles to that? Very interesting stuff. Thanks.
  7. QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Oct 2, 2008 -> 01:22 PM) He had an ulcer. That's all I've heard. Oooo, thanks.
  8. I don;t want to search through 40 some pages... Why is Baines not coaching first?
  9. When I started working with other people that had never heard of "The Greatest American Hero" or "Growing Pains" or "Superfriends".
  10. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 10:03 AM) 1-2 vs Tampa 2-1 @ Tampa 2-2 vs BOS 1-2 @ Boston 2-2 @ Angels 1-2 vs Angels Thought others would appreciate this. I think best case scenario is obviously to beat Tampa and then to get the Red Sox, against whom we'd have home field advantage. Let's Go Sox! These number are wrong. It should be: 1-2 vs Tampa 3-4 @ Tampa 2-2 vs Boston 1-2 @ Boston 3-3 vs LAA 2-2 @ LAA
  11. QUOTE (MurcieOne @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 10:27 AM) .... the original post said an every game event. I took every game to mean every game, not just playoff games. For a post season run, yes keep the blackout theme going. For a sunday game between the sox and mariners in july... don't. I did mean every game, and if you disagree with me again I'll have to beat you down.
  12. QUOTE (CaliSoxFanViaSWside @ Oct 1, 2008 -> 08:18 AM) Yes I noticed that and also noticed the TBS post game was sponsored by Captain Morgan. I mentioned both in the Winners thread. I didn't notice the TBS Postgame thing. That's funny.
  13. QUOTE (Texsox @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 11:41 AM) Back when I had the big office I had an ego wall and when I was sad I would go rub my cheek against the plaques and remember when people liked me. But now, they are dust collectors. Nahhhh, too easy.
  14. I rarely start threads, so if this has been said, screw off! I am so proud of the fans last night. The "blackout" was outstanding and should become an every game thing - like a college atmosphere. I absolutely love a crowd that gets going every time there's two strikes and they didn't disappoint last night! Did anyone else notice what was supposed to be on Comcast during the Sox postgame? A: The Cubs Rally replay. I had a good laugh at that. How many freaking Viagra commercials do they have to play? I think I was singing that damned song in my sleep last night!
  15. I almost forgot how much I hate Harold Reynolds. I like how TBS does the scorecard at the bottom for the batter, but the lines around the "Bases" needs to be more defined.
  16. QUOTE (Controlled Chaos @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 08:00 AM) What kind of an organization is this? We let the most important decision of the year come from a 5 year old? Maybe he has flipped a thousand coins in his young lifetime, but never under this kind of pressure. What kind of assurances did we have that he was going to be correct with 'heads'? NONE. He got lucky!! I'm sure Phil Luckett could have been had to make this call. Yeah, he would have cost the team some money, but we could have guaranteed we got the toss right. Once again this organization took the cheap route by leaving such a crucial decision in the hands of young Jake. What's next coloring on the concourse? Petting zoo in the bullpen bar? We need new management. Ban him!!
  17. QUOTE (greg775 @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 11:11 PM) Awesome stuff. I hope trash talking really doesn't matter in sports cause from what I've read we've given them more bulletin board than they've given us. I don't think talk matters though it apparently turned Javy into a wreck. GO SOX! JUST WIN BABY. The only bulletin board fodder that Ozzie needs is the three box scores from last week in Minnesota.
  18. QUOTE (FlaSoxxJim @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 07:36 AM) Ah, ok. For a second, I thought the kid suggested calling that weird kid from Iowa for advice. Nice! They actually call heads or tails? I thought MLB just assigned them to the two teams and then flipped.
  19. QUOTE (SleepyWhiteSox @ Sep 30, 2008 -> 12:38 AM) World's Greatest Boss

    QUOTE (farmteam @ Sep 29, 2008 -> 01:32 PM) You Know You're Right -- Nirvana There's a tear in my beer - Hank Williams
  21. QUOTE (LosMediasBlancas @ Sep 22, 2008 -> 03:38 PM) I know nothing about golf and I'll prove it: This competition is the US (a country) vs Europe (a continent). If one country is talented enough to take on a continent, doesn't that automatically make that country superior at that sport? What am I missing here? Out of the first 22 "official" Ryder Cups, Great Britain only won 3. They added Europe into their points system for team membership in 1979 and it's been pretty much split down the middle since. Something had to done to regain the prestige of the event and increase the competition.
  22. QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Sep 24, 2008 -> 01:09 PM) LMAO The demise of the McCain/Palin ticket before our eyes. How do you figure? He's heading back to Washington because they go on recess after Friday and this needs to be addressed.
  23. Charlize Theron is African American...and a very fine one at that.
  24. I always enjoy watching the Ryder Cup and will go to my grave saying the '99 Cup was the most exciting moment I've ever seen in all of sports. (I was only 6 during the '80 Winter Games)
