"I remember the first time I laid eye on you."
-
QUOTE(witesoxfan @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 11:36 AM) Unless, of course, you're from Texas. I take the cold, simply because I've gotten used to it. If I had to deal with 100+ for days and days and days, I'd probably come to hate myself. If I preferred cold weather, I'd hate myself.
-
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 09:45 AM) Hey that's me! If the shoe fits.
-
QUOTE(Controlled Chaos @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 08:07 AM) haha... I read about the colded getting to people but sheesh. Don't get ticked off.... How far do you have to walk? My walk is about 15 minutes....and I just have on Jeans, regular socks, hiking shoes, undershirt, button shirt and my coat. ear clips and gloves. I put my hood up on my coat and I'm all good. Totally beats the days when I get to work and I'm dripping with sweat all over and I can't take a shower. I'm not ticked off at the cold. I'm ticked off at the people that prefer the cold.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 8, 2007 -> 08:02 AM) HE'S A COMMIE!!! No, he left and started his own website.

I can't believe how many people have said "You can always put more clothes on." No, you can't. Not comfortably. I don't know why, but this ticks me off. I'm walking to work today with thermal socks, long johns, pants, shirt, sweatshirt, pullover, coat, scarf, stocking hat, gloves. My face was still cold in the bitter wind. What else could I have put on without having to use a blindman's cane to find my way down the sidewalk? Huh? Really! Ugh!

QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 7, 2007 -> 01:19 PM) That's craziness! I can't believe you didn't get any Conservative love all these years. . . I backed off a lot when it got a little too heated. Now I just jump in, take a jab, and jump back out. There are more important things in my life now than arguing on an internet forum.

QUOTE(Soxy @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:32 PM) Don't worry, I haven't won anything either. We should start the "Always smile when someone else wins" group. I'm, like, one of 3 girls on this site and every damn year I lose "person to have a drink with" to Flaxx. Come on! I'm a girl! And he would talk about science the whole time (okay, I would too, but I'M A GIRL). You misunderstood. I've never even beed nominated. Maybe Susan Lucci was a bad comparison. I guess I just fly under the radar too much.

I'll take the hot weather all day everyday! "You can always put more clothes on" - this is a bunch of bunk I hear all the time. It's a pain in the neck to put all those clothes on and when you get into the warmth of the house it doesn't immediately feel better - your fingers are still numb, your face still burns and your lips are still chapped. Add to that, once you finally warm up you're sweating from 2 pairs of socks and long underwear. When you come in from the heat and humidity into the nice cool air conditioning you immediately feel relief! People would actually rather have -10? 35 degrees? OK, I can understand, but -10? They must be completely nuts!

Just don't come to Indiana. We don't want anymore FIBs!

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 09:07 AM) Don't worry, she'll have a Soxtalk account soon I can just see you two fighting over the computer. You'll have to set up a network at home.

QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Feb 6, 2007 -> 08:09 AM) That's how I am too, unfortunately all too many people can't handle the respect part of the equation. I'm glad to hear that you're raising your kids the right way (my way).
-
In think the kids should stand. They don't have to recite it, but standing to me is a sign of respect not to the nation, but the others reciting the pledge around you. I continue to stand when the Canadian Anthem is sang. I stand with parishoners at a church that is not my religion. Why? Respect for others. This is how I teach my kids. This is how I would hope others would teach theirs.

QUOTE(knightni @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 12:21 PM) But, it did jump off the bridge. Nothing like car companies advocating suicide. Especially when they're laying people off like they are.

QUOTE(Rex Kicka** @ Feb 5, 2007 -> 09:37 AM) Doritos car accident spot. OK. Yeah, that was OK.

I feel like Susan Lucci.

Which one was the fan made one?
-
QUOTE(BobDylan @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 04:24 PM) I've already said that I'm not discouraging kids from reading it. But why some adults are more excited to read the book than the children, that has me a bit confused. I used to say the exact same things. Then I read the first one and I get it now. It's an ongoing story that leaves you with a cliffhanger like "Lost" or "24" from season to season. It's the exact same thing, just in a book form.

QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 4, 2007 -> 10:01 PM) I guess i don't watch enough TV that isn't programming selected by my 7-year old. Same here - except insert "4 year old"
-
QUOTE(FlaSoxxJim @ Feb 2, 2007 -> 09:06 AM) Actually, yeah, morality is a big part of the storyline, but the plain truth is they are just fantastically written books that manage to engage a multi-generational audience. Plenty of people don't find them appealing or won't give them a spin, and there is certainly nothing wrong with that. But these are the books that 20-30 years from now my kids will be reading to their kids, and they are the books that got millions of grade schoolers (even the boys!!) to realize that reading is actually fun. For me, it's just hard to overstate the significance of that accomplishment. You're right on the money there, Jim.

I couldn't stand them at first. I couldn't figure it out. Then, I ran out of "my books" (Political, History, Non-Fiction) and took the first book on the train ride with me - my wife has them all. I was hooked. I couldn't put it down. Usually I only read on the train. I read the Harry Potters every chance I got. It kinda made me sick to live with myself. I mean, how could I actually enjoy this fiction crap? So, yes, I'm excited!

I think she's OK to call with this type of news too, but who the hell takes a pregnancy test at 10:00 at night? Don't you think she probably knew earlier in the day?
