Even though my Christmas isn't until the 7th, I got some unexpected gifts from a friend. Got The Hangover DVD and a bunch of iPhone accessories including a sweet Altec Lansing Stereo Stand/iHome type deal.

Chuck Martin to be named DB Coach at Notre Dame. Sucks for GVSU. Best of luck to him, I'm now a fan of the Fighting Irish with Kelly and Martin there. -
http://mlb.mlb.com/media/video.jsp?content_id=7145175 "I'm on the South Side now! It's been about three years in the making; we've been trying to make this happen." I'm really anxious to see him play everyday. I've always liked the guy and I know he and Ozzie have a good relationship so we'll see what happens.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 10:04 PM) I must have imagined the contested shot that Deng just took. From way too deep for that moment in the game. DRose may of had a tough shot at that moment, but I am getting sick of him deferring. Can't really blame him tonight, he was spectacular in the 2nd half. That's the Derrick Rose we all know and love and want to see WAY more of. QUOTE (Balta1701 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 10:49 PM) And it's the right time of year too. There's 3 offdays now, so there's a couple days to do it. Well it IS the Bulls, so if they fire him, it'll probably be on Christmas Eve. -

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 09:52 PM) I turned it off with 14 seconds left when Rose passed up a jumper in the lane to pass to a covered Deng who proceeded to throw up a heavily contested 20 footer which predictably fell short. Except it was the opposite. Deng was open and Rose would have had a tough shot since the defense was crashing, but either way DRose should have taken it. -
Someone keep me posted. I come home and DirecTV has screwed me. SOB.

QUOTE (chw42 @ Dec 22, 2009 -> 10:41 AM) Have they not learned? He's still the same damn pitcher. If you told me we could have Javy back, I wouldn't want him back. Stupid move. As our 5th starter, hell yes I'd want him back, just not at 10 million. -
I gotta say, I'm pretty flabbergasted by WCSox's posts in this thread.

I played my Gameboy all day today. It was amazing.

Kelly Johnson no, but Nick Johnson hell ya.

QUOTE (Flash Tizzle @ Dec 13, 2009 -> 10:28 AM) For me, it'd all depend on what my wife and I could afford. I wouldn't want to live outside of our means, and as a result, have our children grow up with less opportunities available to them (i.e., such as which schools they attend). Ideally, I'd want two boys (to pass on the name, which isn't very common) and two girls. This is an interesting topic because both of my parents are from large families: my father 13, my mother 10. In our family, it's just the three of us and my brother; whom my dad already had from a previous relationship. I remember asking my parents sometime in the past why they didn't have more children, and both agreed that growing up with a large family was a tremendous burden on their parents. Having children was in itself a full-time job, in addition to their other full-time jobs. The oldest children in both families were often more of a parent than the actual parents. In my father's family, the difference between oldest and youngest was 24 years. Although, of all the siblings from both families, none had more than four children. I'd like to believe everyone learned their lesson. Neither grandparents were overly religious, either. Both families were probably the final remnants of the industrial revolution, "have 10 kids to support the family," mindset. Ditto. I want 4.

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 08:51 PM) Lots of moving parts here, but the two best fits for the Sox offense might still be in play. One rumor has it that the Red Sox Signed Lackey in part to be able to free up pitching to deal for Gonzalez. That would take the Red Sox out of the market for a 1B. As far as Upton goes, offer the Rays the same thing you offered the Padres for Gonzalez and see if they bite. That seems like KW strategy when it comes to deals and it's not a bad one if you think about it. "Players/prospects A, B, and C were offered for Gonzalez, you're getting a better deal right out of the box because we're only asking for Upton" :-) Hudson, Flowers, + might be able to get it done ... 9 Upton 3 Johnson 4 Beckham 7 Quentin B Konerko 2 AJ 8 Rios 5 Teahan 6 Ramirez I'd totally be in favor of this. Adding Upton and Johnson to this team would be awesome. The OBP potential of that top 4 is scary.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 05:24 PM) Jon Garland The right-hander, anonymous to many Sox fans, won more games than any other pitcher in the decade besides Buehrle (82). What the f*** does that mean? It means that most fans don't know that he won more games than any other pitcher in the decade besides Buehrle...

QUOTE (kev211 @ Dec 14, 2009 -> 03:59 AM) Hiring the GVSU coach to be the defensive coordinator would infuriate a lot of people, since everyone is looking at who Kelly hires for that. I don't think i'd mind though. What are your views on him, is he a good defensive minded coach? Coach Chuck was a Defensive Backs coach, then Defensive Coordinator before taking over as head coach at GVSU and yes, he's a great defensive minded coach. He currently serves as the OC too, but that's primarily play-calling. The one thing you'll never see from Martin his him getting out-coached. His teams are ALWAYS prepared as he watches countless hours of video. If you look at the Carson-Newman game from last Saturday, they run a split-veer and led the country with something like 359 rushing yards per game and we were able to shut them down. The week before that we held the defending D2 champions to 3 points. And a couple weeks before that, we held the eventual Harlon Hill winner (D2 version of the Heisman) to 23 rushing yards before the 2nd team defense came in to handle our blowout victory and still held him to 74 total yards. He's a phenomenal coach and I think he'd become a fan favorite just as he did at GVSU. -

GVSU lost the National Championship this Saturday to NW Missouri State. Heartbreaking loss. After falling down 21-0 at half, they came back to within 23-20 but fell short and lost 30-23. Amazing game and an incredible 2nd half. I was privileged to have been able to attend the game this weekend down in Florence, Alabama. An amazing experience and one I'll never forget despite the loss. The big new around here now is that our head coach Chuck Martin might be recruited to go to Notre Dame to be BK's Defensive Coordinator. He was asked by BK to be his DC at CMU and at Cincy but Chuck turned it down both times. He said he wouldn't turn it down this time though, and apparently he and Kelly had a talk Saturday night. We'll find out soon what happens. -
I'm not drunk, but boy is my roommate. It was his 21st tonight, so naturally, I went all out and spent a ton of money on him buying the worst, nastiest, or strongest drinks I could buy. Let's just say that I've never seen this kind of volume of vomit. The guy was a tank for a while but he didn't pace himself because he was being cocky and now he's paying for it horribly. He's a little guy and had 12 shots/mixed drinks and a pitcher of PBR. It was insane.

QUOTE (KyYlE23 @ Dec 7, 2009 -> 07:17 PM) And there are still a lot of cupcake schedules that go across the board in NCAA basketball as well because nobody wants to risk losing to a mid-major. Maryland and Syracuse catch flak every year for this reason. And Badger, the goal can be making money AND crowning a true champion, they are not mutually exclusive. Everyone loves an underdog. QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 3, 2009 -> 07:07 PM) Theres no way they would announce within the week since their targets are all going to bowl games. Coaches simply wouldnt do that IMO, especially Kelly. If it is true, I hope domers realize tht defense is once again not going to be played in South Bend. Brian Kelly was announced as Cincy's coach on Dec. 3rd the and coached them in their Bowl game that year...
