  1. QUOTE (knightni @ Dec 20, 2008 -> 10:41 PM) I see another add to Slav's Christmas list: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7791303.stm First of all, this is phenomenal news. The privatization of clubs will hopefully bring in new owners who will give a s*** and improve the clubs, keeping some of the young talent, though all the best talent will eventually move on to the big European clubs (Vidic, Zigic, Ivanovic, Stankovic, etc.). Second of all, f*** Partizan. It's all about Crvena Zvezda.
  2. QUOTE (witesoxfan @ Dec 21, 2008 -> 12:34 AM) k I was wrong, he was still born in the US and resides here now. It's frustrating that a talent like that would play for the DR because he lived there for 3 or 4 years. I disagree completely, but A-Rod's wishy-washiness about it makes me understand it, but in other cases, no. You're either one or the other, you choose.

Pineapple Express was incredibly funny. When Saul busts his foot through the windshield, it might be one of the funniest scenes I've ever seen. My rankings for recent comedies: 1a) Role Models 1b) Pineapple Express 2) Step Brothers 3a) Knocked Up 3b) Superbad 4a) Forgetting Sarah Marshall 4b) 40 Year Old Virgin 5) Zack and Miri Make a Porno
  4. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 19, 2008 -> 01:11 AM) Brandon Roy dropped 50 on the Suns, he'd look awful good along side Rose right about now. So would Lamarcus Aldridge, but we probably don't get Rose if we picked anyone good.
  5. Red Sox owner John Henry says the Red Sox are not going to be a factor in the Teixeira sweepstakes...per ESPN.
  6. QUOTE (Jimmywins1 @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 10:04 PM) The fact is that Jon Garland has proven he cant be a #4 starter in our ballpark, something Richard, Poreda, Marquez, etc.etc. haven't. If he comes for under 10 million, I say do it, you'd essentially be receiving Tyler Flowers, Brent Lillibridge, Gilmore, Rodriguez, Garland & some cash for Javy. I assume you mean he's proven he CAN?
  7. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:44 PM) Oh if you only knew my pain. It really is more of a curse than a gift. Haha, I feel for you.
  8. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:39 PM) I'm sick of everyone always agreeing with me. Rarely does anyone actually call me out, sometimes I have to fabricate an disagreement just to get some good dialogue going. Well, I imagine it gets tough having everyone agree with you when you're 100% right all the time.
  9. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:32 PM) I stand by this. And I agree completely. I probably wouldn't give more than 8 a season for JG.
  10. He's obviously being extremely facetious. I'm pretty sure we all agree that wins don't guage a pitcher's worth at all. It's time to let that go.
  11. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:17 PM) You said he'll keep the ball in the park. I disagreed. You said he allowed 5 HRs to a potent Rangers offense and that most of those HRs allowed came on the road. I listed a few of the s***ty hitters he allowed HRs to in pitchers parks (on the road), see if you hadn't mentioned that Rangers offense I never would have listed the s***ty hitters he allowed homeruns to (2 of which played for the Rangers). This has nothing to do with a 23 year old allowing 15 HRs in his 2nd full season in the bigs (incredibly impressive) it has to do with the fact that for a ground ball pitcher, Garland gives up a good amount of HRs even while pitching in pitchers parks. Well, you listed s***ty hitters as if to say he was a s***ty pitcher for giving up those home runs. Danks gave up a home run to Guillermo freakin' Quiroz. Who he gave it up to means nothing to me. And a little bit more for the sake of comparison, Garland pitched 1.2 more innings than Danks in 1 less start. Am I saying that Garland is better than Danks? Absolutely not. Am I saying that 2008 was clearly an outlier for Garland, probably. Am I saying I'd love Garland as our 4th starter, absolutely.
  12. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 05:08 PM) At least Slav humored me for a while. I'm flattered.
  13. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 04:55 PM) Gerald Laird (@ home), Ben Broussard (@ home), Richie Sexson (in SEA), Daric Barton (at home), Jack Hannahan (@ home), Rod Barajas (@ home & in TOR), Travis Buck (in OAK), Wily Mo Pena (in WAS), Elijah Dukes (in WAS) That's just a few of the HR he allowed out of his first 12 last season. Those are some awful hitters coming in (mostly) pitchers parks. Ryan Garko, Guillermo Quiroz, Ben Francisco, Kelly Shoppach, Miguel Olivo, Rich Aurilia, Marco Scutaro...just some of the names John Danks gave up HR to in 2008.
  14. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 04:47 PM) So it's ok if he allows homeruns to Ben Broussard and Gerald Laird at home because they play for the Rangers. Garland was incredibly wild last season with only 48% of his total pitches finding the strike zone leading to a joke of a WHIP that will lead to a s*** load of runs crossing the plate with a bad White Sox defense behind him. You're right, Marquez/Poreda/Broadway/Nunez/Richard are all more established MLB pitchers and have a better chance of being successful than Garland. Give me the guy we know, the guy we've seen, and the guy we know is going to give us 30 starts.
  15. QUOTE (Kalapse @ Dec 18, 2008 -> 04:22 PM) He gave up 23 homeruns last season in a pitcher's park and failed to throw 200 innings. There's also that knot in his shoulder. 18 Home Starts, 11 HR 14 Road Starts, 12 HR He had to face the Texas offense 3 times (5 HR in those 3 starts), and was a hole 3.1 IP from reaching 200. Like I said, I'd welcome him back as 4th starter.
  16. Sign me up for the Bring Back Garland group, as long as it's not for a ridiculous amount of money. He didn't necessarily leave on bad terms, and I was always a pretty big fan of him. I think he's just what we need in that 4th starter spot, someone who's going to do a good job of keeping the ball in the park and eat up a ton of innings.
  17. Was Bobby on his period when he did this interview?
  18. You know the drill, what are you wanting/craving/asking for this Christmas... I'd like an iPod, because mine got stolen a while back, so that'd be nice. The new Guitar Hero would be cool, and then some miscellaneous DVD's and White Sox gear.
  19. Is it weird that I'm a little upset we won? As much as I love the Bulls, and as much as I love to see them win, realistically, they won't do anything in the playoffs (unless something clicks), if they make it in the 1st place, and if they miss out, then it just hurts our draft position. God knows Pax wouldn't dare do anything to help the team.
  20. QUOTE (rangercal @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 11:07 PM) camby 25 rebs. wow 53-37 rebound differential, Randolph is absolutely murdering us down low as well. Doesn't help that Noc is guarding him.
  21. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 17, 2008 -> 10:54 PM) Wow Eric Gordon, worst foul of the year so far. I fear he'll hit the winner and make up for it. I was debating whether to put Eric or Ben, and as stupid as the foul was, you still have to hit that shot and the FT to tie it.
  22. I don't know how you can all rip Gray so much. He's a fabulous passer out of the center position and he is the only player on our roster who can get us some easy buckets down low. No, he's not athletically gifted, but if he can get us some easy buckets with a few minutes a game, I don't see why he wouldn't be a valuable piece to the team. He's not very good defensively, but name me one person on the Bulls who is. He's essentially the tall, white version of Michael Sweetney, and I'm perfectly fine with that, as long as he isn't play 30 minutes a game.
