QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 26, 2008 -> 07:11 PM) Bwahahaha, Mike Brown was placed on injury reserve....again. I don't wish a man any injury, but it's funny that it has happened again to the Bears. I've never seen a team so patient with a player and injuries before. http://www.suntimes.com/sports/football/be...-bear26.article -
The list is flawed due to the absence of Aaron Rowand in the #1 spot in all lists and also due to the entire absence of Darin Erstad.

QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 07:40 PM) Throw Lucy in there as an off chance. If he can be healthy enough by ST to play the same way he did in 2008 at AAA, then he's what he was then - looking ready to be AJ's backup. I have no idea what the chances are of that, though. Not great I'm sure, but not zero either. I haven't been able to get any info on Donny's situation since the summer. Dislocated knee caps pretty much jack you up forever. It's one of those injuries that becomes more likely to re-occur when/every time it happens. It's happened to me many times, and it sucks horribly every time. Unless he got surgery and REALLY works his ass off to rehab it, it's unlikely he'll ever be a MLB catcher.

QUOTE (Jordan4life @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 08:45 PM) "The Mark has been made" by NIN. I feel like I want to beat the living s*** out of somebody when I listen to it. It really revs you up. Another good one by NIN is "Terrible Lie." Another one is "Requiem for a dream" by Clint Mansell. "Sing for the moment" by eminem is also another good one. "Just Like You Imagined" by NIN is also another one that pumps me up.

Alexei with the #5 Greatest SportCenter Highlight of 2008

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Dec 25, 2008 -> 08:48 PM) Top SC highlight of the year was Michael Phelps with the come from behind win by 0.01 in the Olympics. I still think Cavic got robbed. -
I just posted this over on TB, and I realize its flawed, but for the sake of discussion... It's apparent that the Bulls need to overhaul this roster. It's one of, if not the, worst constructed teams in the NBA. So, we should probably evaluate what some of the trade options are for the team. Here are some of the names that have been rumored to be on the move... Stephen Jackson, Golden State Jermaine O'Neal, Toronto David Lee, New York Brad Miller, Sacramento Chris Kaman, Los Angeles Anthony Parker, Toronto Now, as far as big men go, Kaman and Lee are probably the most appealing options because of their age. O'Neal, while he isn't old, is making a LOT of money. I doubt the Knicks move Lee, but it's a possibility. Miller makes the least amount of sense as we aren't really close to competing, and he is something like 33 years old. Kaman would be great because he's still only 26 years old, and could be our center for a long time as Rose develops further. The problem there is finding a match with the Clippers. They essentially have the better version of everything we could offer, though they very well could be interested in Gooden's expiring 7 million. Gooden and Thabo for Kaman works under the Collective Bargaining Agreement provision and would allow Tyrus to move into the full time starting PF spot. As far as guards go, I would absolutely LOVE acquiring Stephen Jackson. He's had the image in the past of being a thug and all that, but since going to Golden State, he's really grown into a great offensive player, a fan favorite, and a well liked teammate (Duncan called him the "ultimate teammate") and would really fit the style of offense that we need to be running in Chicago with Rose at the helm. He's versatile as he can run the point, play SG and SF. He is 30, but still has 4 years left on his contract and would dramatically improve the defense from the wing. Not only that, but Rose/Gordon/Jackson could be lethal if run properly. In a dream world, we could swing Gooden/Thabo for Kaman then swap Deng and another piece for Jackson, giving us... Rose/Hunter Gordon/Hughes Jackson/Nocioni/Simmons Tyrus/Noah/Ruffin Kaman/Gray None of this will probably happen, but I could dream.

Stuckey annihilated us for 40. Rose, Gordon, and Noc all fouled out, Deng and Tyrus both had 4. Thank God Gordon's magnificent defense saved us. DirecTV went out 1/2 way through the 3rd quarter for me, so this is all I could muster... 1st Quarter 11:19 – Gordon can’t get around screen, switch to Rasheed Wallace for jumper, shot good 7:52 – Gordon allows Stuckey back cut for easy lay-up 5:45 – Gordon goes under screen, wide open jumper for Stuckey, shot good 5:00 – Gordon ole’s Iverson right to the hoop, no bucket, foul by Rose, 2 FT 2nd Quarter 2:29 – Gordon fouls Stuckey with an ole on breakaway for the and-1 3rd Quarter 2:15 – Gordon goes under screen, turns back, allows open jumper to Stuckey And a note at the end...never did he do anything to help Rose while he was in foul trouble, not only that, but he fouled out himself, and had 6 turnovers. What a stud.

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:50 PM) Much better than Rose or anyone else on this team might I add. I forgot though, one game makes a season. DOUBLE SMH AT YOU! Well, I rest my case.
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:46 PM) PER IS NOT THE END ALL BE ALL LULZ! And I said the defensive part in jest actually. Just using the stats you thought made Gordon an outstanding defender. He's looking great tonight, isn't he?
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 08:38 PM) And play excellent defense. Mayo is an all-star caliber defender. If you don't believe that, you have problems. I think it's fairly obvious who here has the problems. Gotta love that 21 points/48 he's allowing and the 16.2 PER. All-Star caliber defender.
-
These ref's are bad.
-
Thats too f***ing easy to end the half. Unbelievable.
-
Some bulls*** fouls on Rose.
-
How do we expect to win with lineups of Hunter/Hughes/Thabo/Tyrus/Gray?
-
OUTSTANDING defense by Gordon as he ole's Iverson to death, giving him an easy baseline drive to the hoop, no bucket, but Rose with the foul giving him 2 FT. (1st quarter, 5:00 mark)
-
OUTSTANDING defense by Gordon there, planting his feet at the elbow and allowing Stuckey to run free on the back cut for an easy, uncontested lay-up. (1st quarter, 7:52 mark)

QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 06:00 PM) See, now you are just pulling any strings. Great defense means you don't allow for your man to score. Gordon's defense on him was excellent, especially in the 1st half where he just stifled him at which Johnson admitted to. So, no don't give me that crap that it doesn't count as a good defensive game for Gordon when players and coaches have commented on how good his defense has become. I'd love to see your analysis on Rose's defense. Wait, no I wouldn't because you clearly do not have a better view of how excellent defense is played than coaches and players. Rose's defense has been pretty bad overall, no one is going to argue that. He's been worse than Gordon, but Rose is also a 19 year old rookie. If good defense means you don't allow your man to score, than how is allowing Joe Johnson 17 points playing good defense? Either way, isn't there some thread on RealGM you should be tending to? I've heard it all now...I'm stupid because I don't think Gordon plays outstanding defense. I can't wait to see Iverson and/or Stuckey get to the rack at will. Better yet, how many open jumpers will they get when Gordon gets caught behind a screen set by Rasheed Wallace or Amir Johnson.
-
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:43 PM) SMH is shake my head. Double SMH at you. Joe Johnson, 4-16 for 17 points. Ben guarded him all game long. Now again, show me someone who went off on Ben. Here, I'll save you some time, NO ONE! Gordon also had 4 fouls and sent him to the line 11 times. Johnson had a bad shooting night, I watched that game. Gordon has never shut anyone down defensively. Ever.

QUOTE (Sox It To Em @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:26 PM) You know what's interesting? The Yankees had so much money coming off the books, they haven't even increased their payroll from last season. They dropped 88.5 mil off their payroll and even after signing CC, Burnett, and Tex, they have about 22 million left of that that they could still spend.

QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:14 PM) I have to disagree with this statement. Steltz got ran the f*** over a couple times and generally looked awful last night I thought. I think he had 4 or 5 tackles, but I was underwhelmed with his performance. He got run over once on Grant's TD, and that was his 1st play on defense. Other than that, he played decently. Nothing great, but nothing terrible either. -
QUOTE (nitetrain8601 @ Dec 23, 2008 -> 05:19 PM) Considering Ben doesn't guard SF's, Luol does unless it's a huge guard (VC), that's a pretty bad picture that does not tell the whole picture. Luol got burned by LeBron, Gordon was just there. And Gordon did not cover Rondo, Derrick Rose did. Again, Gordon is in the picture as he's watching the ball, something taught in grade school. Oh, and Kobe got crossovered by Beno Udrih, but I guess that makes him a terrible defender as well. SMH. And as it stands, Ben Gordon is up there as the team's best player. The discussion is only him and Rose which is great because Rose is just a rookie. SMH at you people. I'm still waiting for someone to post who lit up Ben so far this year. I'm still waiting for you to tell me when Ben Gordon has ever shut anyone down defensively...that's what OUTSTANDING defensive players do. What is SMH?

Tex is a Yankee, so hopefully things start heating up on the hot stove...
