QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 03:04 PM) I don't understand how we are over budget. They made a ton of money last year and have lowered payroll by $30 million. Someone with an economic background care to explain? And don't just say the economy is bad as a whole. I think you also have to take into consideration what will happen this season. If they kept payroll the same with the way the economy is, they don't want to screw themselves over for the near future monetarily, essentially protecting themselves from the inevitable decrease of revenue. QUOTE (Leonard Zelig @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 03:05 PM) How do you know they made a ton of money last year? Thats the other issue. No one really knows what their revenue stream last year was like, and certainly no one knows any exact numbers. Then again, like some people believe (I'm still unsure), this could all be a big farce from KW.

We signed Corky Miller and Chris Stewart recently, and we also have Cole Armstrong in the minors. I think we'll fill that internally, and my guess would be that Miller gets the job, as he's pretty good defensively and hit righty, although he can't hit a lick.

Ballpark adjusted performance for pitchers...see our

He turns 30 in March and already has 122 wins. I don't think 200 wins will be an issue at all provided he's healthy and keeps his current pace, which says he'd win his 200th game in 5.7 seasons or so. -
Whats this about Fields playing on 1 leg?

I wouldn't be that upset with Gathright or Taveras in CF as long as they are batting 9th.

Hanging with Mr. Cooper... Daniel Cabrera non-tendered

QUOTE (SoxFan101 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 02:52 AM) Wasnt Ramon Hernandez, the Orioles catcher accused of being pretty lazy behind the plate too? His laziness probably wouldn't make Cabrera walk just as many batters as he strikes out though... -
QUOTE (BigSqwert @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 02:49 PM) Here's another must see for me: http://www.thegrantorino.com/ Clint Eastwood is still a badass.

Hanging with Mr. Cooper... Daniel Cabrera non-tendered

Here's a little comparison...a really scary comparison... Daniel Cabrera: 5 seasons, 60 wild pitches Greg Maddux: 23 seasons, 70 wild pitches Tom Glavine: 22 seasons, 65 wild pitches Curt Schilling: 20 seasons, 72 wild pitches Pedro Martinez: 17 seasons, 62 wild pitches -

Hanging with Mr. Cooper... Daniel Cabrera non-tendered

QUOTE (caulfield12 @ Dec 13, 2008 -> 12:44 AM) former Sox fan favorite Jamie Burke was non-tendered by the M's, totally expected move...even though Clement and Johjima are a complete mess. From what I understand, Clement will spend most of his time at 1B in the near future. -

Majewski has sucked monster juevos since going to Cincy, but I'd love to bring him back. Taveras, Cabrera, and Saito would be others I'd look at. -
I think those road grays are disgusting. The hanging sox logo/hat is hot s*** though.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 12, 2008 -> 07:53 AM) Because I think we'd be doing to opposite of what we would need to do, get younger, faster, and hopefully better defensively. I don't see the point in trading Dye and signing Abreu to probably a 3 year contract worth around 30 million or more. I think Dye is a lot better, and I'd much rather keep Dye and use the money on a free agenct pitcher. Abreu, who's apparently really slow according to everyone here, still had 22 steals last yr (though I believe he was caught 11 times) and would have led the 2008 White Sox by 3. Abreu is what we're looking for in hitters; balance. He hits for good average, gets on base, is a smart baserunner, and still has some good pop, which the Cell would obviously aid. He's a consistent hitter. Not to say Dye isn't consistent, but Abreu is quite a bit better with RISP and is less HR-or-nothing than Dye.

QUOTE (SoxFan1 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 04:58 AM) Third that. 115 terms for European History and 800 years to know. My exam is at 4 PM, and I'll probably be studying until then. Well all the studying certainly paid off. I got an A on the exam and now I'm donezo.

QUOTE (RockRaines @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 12:18 PM) Oh yes, I saw the bus plow into the building on canal when I worked at 200 s wacker. Also I watched it again last night on my 50in sammy. I liked it MUCH better than sitting in the far right side of the front row at the AMC on Illinois. His voice is very annoying, but i think it was much easier to enjoy Heath's performance on the smaller screen. My mom was there at the Prudential building when he busts through the glass doors and goes through the blue track-looking lobby.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 08:45 AM) It doesn't take a f***ing genius to notice these things. I have been wrong, but I have been right a whole lot more. Think what you want, but don't f***ing insult me, or my intelligence. Could you come to one of my classes and evaluate me? Will I make it in life one day?

QUOTE (dasox24 @ Dec 11, 2008 -> 04:36 AM) Right there with ya... Just took about a 5 minute break after studying for statistics for the last 6 hours, and now I'm moving on to studying for religion. Third that. 115 terms for European History and 800 years to know. My exam is at 4 PM, and I'll probably be studying until then.

I'd sell it for any amount of money, but I went stingy and said $50. I'm pushing 20k....jeez.

QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 10:44 PM) I don't give a crap what Larish did in AA in 07. I saw him play and he won't do s*** in the MLB. Anyone with any knowledge of hitting can see that Larish's approach and all around swing just won't cut it. Unless he changes what he does at the plate, he won't be any better then a bench player. You can quote me on this. Joyce will easily be a better player then Larish. You're just f***ing Nostradamus when it comes to baseball. You saw him play, therefore it must be true. Quote this...you don't know squat about judging talent, otherwise you'd be working for a major league baseball team. How many players have you scouted and evaluated? Is Joyce going to be better than future Hall of Famer Ryan Sweeney? Give me a f***ing break, we can write a book with all your damn predictions. Oh, and all the Tigers fans I know hate this deal.
-
QUOTE (BearSox @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 10:07 PM) EDIT: Never mind. Larish is the weak stick I was thinking of. Joyce actually has some potential. What are you talking about? Larish hit 27 HR in AA in 07, Joyce has never topped 17 in any league nor has he hit over .270 since low-A ball.

QUOTE (Thunderbolt @ Dec 10, 2008 -> 02:31 PM) Speculation that the White Sox entering the FA market is contingent on a Dye for pitching trade. http://danny-knobler.blogs.sportsline.com/...e=rss_blogs_MLB If true, KW must really believe the Free Agent dominos are going to fall very slowly.
