2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 10:13 AM) Ilyasova's not a bad player. I'd say he's not that much worse than Bargnani if you give him as many touches as Bargnani gets. I haven't watched him that much, but from the splits, he is pretty much just a jump shooter. 73% of his shots are jump shots. 27% come from the inside. Those kind of splits aren't what down low bangers do. I didn't say he was a banger more than anything, but he gets dirty down low. He'll scrap and bang downlow. His game is as a jumpshooter, there's no doubt about that. But Mirotic's potential is much better than Ilyasova's. He's got a much better jumper. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:56 AM) I like the use of "hyperbole". That's quite original right now. Listen, we all get it. Your family hails from the great Serbia. Guess what? My family is from Germany. s***! 4 generations ago! OMG I is Dirk expert! Oh wait, no I'm not. Just like your amazing access to YouTube (exclusive? Nahhh) makes you nothing short of Soxtalk's Serbian fanboy. It is ok though. We all get it. You are angry and yelling and Lord knows I have been there and done that. At the end of the night, the Bulls took Mirotic simply because they did not have to pay him, and not because he could be anything like Bargnani, the former #1 overall (only because he was supposed to be similar to my family's countryman Dirk). So, seriously, get off your high horse and let's chat in half a decade. I don't understand this at all. I'm not angry at all, nor am I yelling. You obviously haven't the slightest clue about anything that has to do with Mirotic. The Bulls must have traded for Asik a couple years back because they didn't have to pay him...even though he was a 2nd rounder, right??? You are stating your opinion as fact with no empirical evidence to back up ANY of your claims, all while admitting you know absolutely nothing about Mirotic. Well done. And to recap, I'm annoying, co-cheese?, mindless, captain douche, a martyr, Serbia's Fanboy AND on my high-horse. All that in a little over an hour. I'm impressed. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:16 AM) Google is fantastic. Listen, you are clearly captain douche when it comes to internet argument. Neither of us knows how good Mirotic will be, but I'd venture being better than Ersan f***ign Ilyasova is tough to do. Let alone being as good as Andrea motherf***ing Bargnani. Keep playing the martyr, and I'll just ignore the rest of your posts, k? Do whatever you want, buy you're the one spewing the hyperbole again. Andrea Bargnani is not that good. He shoots, A LOT, and doesn't do a whole lot more. But of course, you know FOR SURE that he has no chance of becoming Andrea Bargnani despite knowing nothing about him. Mirotic won the Rising Star Award in the Euroleague, something Andrea Bargnani once won. DraftExpress had him as the 7th best overall prospect in the draft. But I'm just silly for thinking he could be any good. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:07 AM) FANTASY Lol, ya caught me! I have no clue who Ilyasova is! Hell, I don't even know what country he's from, let alone his style of play. And Serbians? God knows I never talk about them! Silly me. I'll go back to my corner now and do some research on why Lebron James won't ever sign with the Heat. Effin' Christ. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:04 AM) Of course I haven't. I think 90% of the world hasn't. But guess what? I can watch YouTube on this new invention called the internet. You also, by the way, haven't heard of him. Sadly, you also knew little about Ilyasova before tonight, which is inexcusable, since he plays less than 90 minutes north of Chicago. Actually, I know quite about about Ilyasova, and made it a point to draft him on all my fantasy teams. And being that Mirotic is Serbian and I keep tabs on our players all the time, I actually HAVE heard of Mirotic. But feel free to try and assert your dominance here. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 01:01 AM) Ilyasova doesn't back guys down. At all. And of course Mirotic doesn't have it yet. He's a youngster overseas and he chucks and grabs boards and averages under 8 ppg while doing so. K, I'll go back to being mindless and annoying even though you haven't heard of Mirotic until Monday. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:56 AM) Ilyasova is a pure shooter. You are mindless. Ilyasova is also a banger down low and will back guys down. Those are things that Mirotic doesn't have in his game. At least not yet. This is what I'm trying to tell you. Right now, his game most resembles Bargnani. As in a big man who spends most of his time on the perimeter and wont get you much more than 5 or 6 rebounds a game. Mirotic hustles way more than Bargnani though. No reason to think he can't develop into Bargnani, who is 5 years older. -

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:44 AM) Ignorant? God, you are annoying. How is that ignorant? Ilyasova is a solid player. He's no All-Star, and sure as s*** no Bargnani (which Mirotic stands no chance of becoming). Ilyasova is a good comparison. Take it easy, co-cheese. Have you ever heard of Nikola Mirotic before the last few days? How do you know that he stands no chance of becoming Bargnani? His game is the same except he actually hustles. He's a pure shooter. His ceiling his higher than Ilyasova. And it's ignorant because it matches what the definition of ignorant is. -
QUOTE (LittleHurt05 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:32 AM) Wow. What a day. Getting 1st round value for Brouwer is a steal. I don't know much about Olesz, but his contract is $4 mil less/year and one year shorter so I'm happy. Maybe one of the true puck heads can fill me in as to what we can expect from him, if anything. Campbell was a solid player, and wouldn't be so hated if Tallon didn't offer him that ridiculous contract. Either way, he had to go, and its good to see the Hawks have some money to re-sign Sharpie (so I dont have to buy a new jersey) and make a few other moves too. Watching that draft and checking the 2011-12 schedule made me very ready for hockey season. Olesz was the 7th overall pick in 2004. 3rd line winger on a good team. Has some talent, but coming off ACL surgery. He's got a 3.125 cap hit for the next 3 years. You're probably looking at about 35 points at most if he stays healthy. Florida had him up way early, before he was really ready for the NHL. I don't think we're looking at a Frolik-like steal here.

F*** it III: Sox vs The National. First Pitch 7:10 CT

QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 25, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Anyone know the last time a team blew 3 saves in a game and won? Partial answer: http://twitter.com/#!/ESPNStatsInfo/st...490179024388097 -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:08 PM) Apparently Florida is real close (or might be there right now) to the cap floor that adding Campbell helps get them there cuz god knows nobody of any value is going to sign there as a FA. And like someone already said, you gotta figure Sharpie's extension is only a matter of when now. Just read on twitter that FLO is still 24 million under the cap floor...

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:49 PM) Hopefully Castro has permission to f*** around with those people Nice insight though, I saw the other day that you get to watch Sox batting practice. Sounds fun! I've got a pretty sweet internship. -

QUOTE (fathom @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:46 PM) The last few years, the Sox have not been a big "celebration" team. That doesn't mean anything at all. Basically since Swisher left, you don't see any goofiness, etc. Ramon Castro is incredibly goofy in the dugout. He's not quite a Toby Hall or a Nick Swisher, but he's always f***ing around with people. Rios is pretty goofy too. -

QUOTE (chw42 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:45 PM) AJ hits a huge homer to tie the game and the dugout isn't pumped? That says a lot about the team's chemistry. I'm telling you first hand, the team has great chemistry from what I've seen with my own eyes. They are normally very loose all the time. I didn't see the MLB Network feed so I can't comment on that. -

QUOTE (Marty34 @ Jun 24, 2011 -> 11:17 PM) Silver lining: maybe Morel gets sent down to add a reliever after the game. Who, exactly, would we call up that doesn't suck?
