QUOTE (chimpy2121 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 08:42 PM) Two guys I'm hoping to see the Hawks sign tomorrow are Cole and Madden. I like our chances of signing Cole. I think the Hawks definitely have interest. Don't see them going for any more d-men unless they can't ink Campoli. Names that keep getting thrown around include Max Talbot and Mike Rupp. Here's one I'm throwing out: Simon Gagne. Apparently he's going to come pretty cheap.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 03:52 AM) Problem is I cant order hats offline.. they all fit differently, regardless if they are the same size, and I cant spend $30 on a hat that might be bent up or not fit right when I got it.. Well, they'll normally run slightly big on me at 7 3/8, so you kinda have to "sweat it in" so to speak, to really get the right fit. That's how I've been with almost all my hats. I wear 7 3/8.

This thread reminds me about how happy I, and most, once were when we signed Dunn. And then we re-signed PK and we were all thinking World Series. This team still has potential. Just gotta piece it together slowly.

QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) Oh Lord, Juan Pierre will now get a lifetime contract. QUOTE (Steve9347 @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 04:27 PM) Dunn would rather self-mutilate than swing. Exactly what we need in a 3 hitter. I think you're in the wrong thread.

Looks like Ehrhoff might have a deal done with Buffalo and Philly will not be offering on Stamkos.
-
2.75 is probably too much for Montador, but the market is well in the player's favor right now. Guys like Ehrhoff are going to make a killing. Most important is that it's a tradeable contract.
-
QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 30, 2011 -> 02:18 AM) Well that or teams have been giving up late round picks to get their guy before they hit FA. (Ehrhoff, Wiz, etc..) Toews as a second line center... wowza. Kane can do exactly what St. Louis is doing for Stamkos too as a playmaking RW. Hell, Parise would just be golden by himself, especially with the Hawks loaded with prospect depth. Ok let me not get ahead of myself. Hypothetically, how would you stack your lines? Kane/Stamkos/Sharp Bickell/Toews/Hossa Frolik/Bolland/Smith That top line is lethal offensively, but you also have an elite two-way line and a top checking line with offensive talent. Wow.
-
Take this with a gigantic, humungous grain of salt, but Ekland said: "Then I was told Chicago...who has been very quiet after freeing up money with the Campbell trade, was suddenly part of not only the Parise rumor, but possibly was putting an offer sheet together for Stamkos." Either of these would be absolutely insane.

QUOTE (OilCan @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:23 PM) Bob McKenzie @TSNBobMcKenzie Bob McKenzie Regarding VAN radio report on Parise to Canucks: fantasy. Someone's over-active imagination. Don't believe they're even talking at this pt. 8 minutes ago via Twitter for BlackBerry® Favorite Retweet Reply Ya, seems that it was completely fabricated. Parise can't even be traded until after his arbitration hearing anyway.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 10:34 PM) This may have something to do with the Campoli negotiations. Perhaps he wants too much? It would definitely seem that way, or the John Scott news was all crap. Based on how we ended the season last year, the Hawks may be content with Keith/Leddy, Seabrook/Hjalmarrson, Campoli/Montador.
-
Holy hell the madness has begun. Parise to the Canucks for Schneider, Hodgson and Samuelsson plus a 2012 2nd rounder, per Bob Mackenzie. Hawks acquire the negotiating rights of Steve Montador for a conditional 7th round pick, per the Buffalo Sabres. Apparently we flipped the pick we got from FLA for Kopecky. If we can sign him to an affordable deal, major win. Montador is a solid d-man, shot blocker. 20 points last yr, +16. Played about 20 minutes a game.

QUOTE (whitesoxbrian @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 05:03 PM) COL? I know you mean Columbus, but Columbus' 3 letter abbreviation is CBJ, while Colorado's is COL. Ya, duh. Just a brainfart on my end.
-
Wiz's rights traded to CBJ. Some rumors about the Blackhawks being very interested in Jan Hejda. Also potentially TJ Oshie.

QUOTE (T R U @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 05:27 PM) Ive upped my collection to Angels A's Braves Dodgers Sox Mets Cardinals Rockies Astros Yankees Tigers Reds Im thinking Giants, Rays, Phillies will be next for purchase.. I also want to get some of the Sox minors hats as well I've got a Barons hat. There's a couple Charlotte Knights hats on Lids.com that are sooooooooo sweet. And DEFINITELY check out hatclub.com if you haven't already. All authentic hats in some insanely awesome color ways. My wishlist on that site is about 30 hats long.

QUOTE (Buehrle>Wood @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 12:10 AM) Anyone ever take an interview you feel unqualified for? I got it from a referral within the company, so I'm not sure what to expect, but I'm going with it anyways. Holy hell, you're still rockin' the Widgenator sig?!?!?

QUOTE (SoxAce @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 09:29 AM) Sorry Slav but.. Laich resigned with the Caps. 6 yrs. 4.5 mil. Eh, disappointed, sure. But also glad the Hawks didn't pay him that much. QUOTE (whitesoxfan101 @ Jun 29, 2011 -> 01:42 AM) Unless the Islanders offer him some insane contract that he can't refuse since they need to spend (and I doubt they'd do that, set the market, and anger every other team in the NHL), I see no reason why Ehrhoff would stay there. It was worth a shot since it's a 4th round pick I suppose. Pitkanen resigning didn't surprise me (I didn't think Carolina would just let all of their big name UFA's go), but the Brooks Laich news surprised and disappointed me. I thought he'd at least hit the open market. I agree. I thought for sure Laich would at least get a feel for whats out there. A ton of teams were linked to that name. Bieksa, Laich, Pitkanen all resigned. Getting a lot thinner for the Hawks.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 12:14 AM) Oh my bad, I misread your post as talking about the sand in a filter, not the sand underneath the pool. Yeah, having a level bottom on your pool is pretty key. The problem just came out of nowhere, which is the most frustrating part. Last summer, we never had any problems with anything under the pool washing out. The bottom was completely level.
-
QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 28, 2011 -> 12:22 AM) Ok, so if Kopecky does not sign w/ Florida, do we still get their 7th RD pick, and then could we conceivably re-sign him? That would be a punch in the nuts for the Panthers. Haha. We get a pick no matter what. The 2012 pick is conditional through Nashville. If it's not available come draft time, then the 2013 7th goes to the Hawks. "The Blackhawks will get Florida’s seventh-round pick in the 2012 draft (which is presently conditional to the Nashville Predators). If that pick is not available, Florida will transfer its seventh-round selection in the 2013 draft." Also, Hawks extend qualifying offers to Frolik, Campoli and Stalberg but not to Jake Dowell.

QUOTE (JoeCoolMan24 @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 11:39 PM) We switched from a sand "barrel" style filter to a cartridge one. Sooo much easier to open/close every year. I am not sure of the brand we have, but it looks like this one.... http://www.google.com/products/catalog?hl=...ved=0CG8Q8gIwAw My dad just has to take the cartridge off and hose it down like once a summer or something. Very easy. We have a Hayward cartridge filter as well. Super easy to maintain.

Randomly turned sigs back on to view on the board because I had no clue what mine was. Apparently it's "Hello." This also prompted me to check my "profile" information on ST. Apparently my favorite Sox minor leaguer is Sergio Miranda.

No one seems to know. Oh well. Guess I'll just buy one and figure it out. In other news, I have terrible luck with my pool. When we first got it installed, the liner had a leak in it from the factory. We got a new one. Then we had a ton of problems with the ladder we had because the ground wasn't even and the ladder didn't really work in the pool. We got a new one. Then the valve on the filter started cracking from weather. We got a new one. This year, just as we opened the pool, another hole in the liner. The water/rain from the spring started washing out the backfill of sand/dirt that was sitting under one of the uprights. It left a concrete block exposed to the liner which ripped a huge hole in the liner from the pressure of the water. We patched that hole. Then another small hole came. We patched that hole and a 3rd leak sprung. So on Monday, we're getting a brand new liner and the pool people are going to redo the backfill of sand and dirt to even out the bottom of the pool and make sure no blocks are exposed. HOPEFULLY I'll be able to get into my pool for the 1st time (for recreational use) but the 4th.

2011-2012 OFFICIAL NBA LOCKOUT thread
SoxFan1 replied to southsider2k5's topic in Alex’s Olde Tyme Sports Pub
How much money will the Bulls even have to spend in FA, hypothetically? If they could afford either of Smith or Richardson, I'd be down. Rip Hamilton is another guy who would be a nice fit. -
QUOTE (maggsmaggs @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 04:20 PM) My ideal roster for 2011-2012: Kane-Toews-Smith Gagne-Sharp-Hossa Bickell-Bolland-Frolik Olesz-Kruger-Eager Keith-Seabrook Hammer-Pitkanen Leddy-Sopel Crawford Salak Addded: Simon Gagne (will shift Sharp to center) Ben Eager Joni Pitkanen Brent Sopel With $14 million in cap, you get a high-priced free agent in Pitkanen ($5 million ish), a decently priced veteran in Gagne ($3-4 million; coming off down year and has made plenty already) and two cheap depth guys in Eager/Sopel ($4 million combined). I'm totally down with this, except I don't think you have to spend a combined 4 mil on Eager and Sopel. If you can spare 1.5 mil or so somewhere, a 4th line center like Madden or Belanger or even Konopka for some more toughness would be nice so Kruger can stick on the wing. I've b een reading a lot that Gagne could come a lot cheaper than people think. If that's the case, why not see if you can snag Cole? QUOTE (Jim Spencer @ Jun 27, 2011 -> 05:08 PM) More $$ to spend now No more money. He was already an UFA. Just means we get something for a guy who was leaving anyway.

QUOTE (ChrisLikesBaseball @ Jun 26, 2011 -> 10:59 PM) I'm a HUGE fan of anything uniform related, mostly caps, but these two jerseys are my favorites by far with the A's yellow alternate a close third. I really liked the Blue Jays retro alternate last season as well. I'm assuming you're a big New Era Fitted Cap guy then. I have a lengthy collection myself. Just about every Sox fitted I could find that's legit. A couple Pirates ones, WSH, COL, SEA, STL, ATL, and more. I'm more into hats than any other form of MLB apparel. I just love so many of the logo and color combinations.
