  1. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 27, 2007 -> 09:00 AM) The theory is most Mac owners don't know a computer from a toaster oven. Thanks for proving it. And I have the second degree burns on my hands to prove it!
  2. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 08:31 PM) Something that should have been passed a long time ago, IMO. Not only that, new legislation should be created that ties a war tax rate directly to the numbber of troops deployed into combat situations. You want another 100K troops in Iraq? That's another half-cent tax or whatever rate is appropriate. You want to begin a new campaign in Iran, that's a higher war tax rate. If anything should be pay-as-you-go, it should be funding combat military operations. It might drive the cost home to the average person a little more clearly. At any rate, I think with the introduction of a bill like this Boltin' Joe won't have anybody on either side of the aisle to sit at the lunch table with.
  3. I'm responding in this thread from my toaster oven.* * Not really responding in this thread from my toaster oven.
  4. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 08:40 PM) If you guys are so bummed for the season, just go to the Tigers board and start cheering for them...Season hasnt even started and half of you have given up already. This isnt the Delta I remember.... Germans? Forget it. He's rolling.
  5. 5/16 vs. Yankees is the only definite game for me at the Cell so far. Then two more against the Rays @Tampa in June. Living out of market sux rocks.
  6. QUOTE(G&T @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 03:48 PM) It's rare that I can say this here but I think there are people underestimating how bad this is. After watching this team look like they were swinging at ping pong balls against lefties last year, Hall was a key pickup. His defensive position can probably be filled. That's true. But his offense can't easily be replaced. This sucks even more because he was playing so well this spring. That is pretty much my sentiment as well. Without blaming the injury anyone/anything but bad luck, I thought Hall was a major offensive upgrade in a backup catcher and the team will suffer as a result of losing him. QUOTE(Allsox @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 04:06 PM) Well, this sucks. If the organization wasn't so in love with Erstad in CF and put him at 1B to back up Konerko (Which was the reason he was signed in the first place), they wouldn't hafta go with an unknown dude named Wiki. Unknown?!? Dude has his own website all about him and it's friggin' huge!
  7. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 12:49 PM) What about an impeachment trial of only Gonzalez? He's clearly the one who went out on a limb and lied to Congress...the Congress has enough on him to push for one based on his previous testimony and how many documents totally contradict it, and Congress is fully within it's rights to push for an impeachment of the AG. I think that there is clearly enough evidence that he knowingly gave false sworn testimony now to warrant impeachment proceedings for AG.
  8. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 12:07 PM) I am glad that when they appended a PhD upon your name, you did not lose the ability to clearly express your views. Your students would be so f***ing proud I might have had a couple beers before penning that email.
  9. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 26, 2007 -> 11:17 AM) The problem with this war is it is more of a war of psychology then ever before. And, let's face it, Americans are wusses in the wars of psychology. We don't have the guts to stand up for our values anymore. Maybe the real problem is more that at the top, we don't live up to our values anymore. Torture, rendition, indefinite detention without charge, going to war under false pretense. . . all seem less than the American ideal.
  10. QUOTE(chimpy2121 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 02:12 AM) Loaiza.... Ditto, and mine is signed too.
  11. QUOTE(Steve9347 @ Mar 25, 2007 -> 12:50 PM) It would have come off a lot better sans the swearing. That message might get filtered out and never read just because of the "naughty" words. It is BS though... Meh, I figure it would get deleted on receipt anyway. They don't give a fish what the fans think.
  12. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 08:29 AM) Speaking of grandpa, I see you made CNN congratulations! Dang, I look pretty good.
  13. QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 01:49 PM) See, now that's fairly interesting, because IIRC, if I go back a couple of pages in this thread, I recall that CREW filed a complaint against the White House because it's in some way illegal for people within the White House to be using outside email addresses to conduct White House business because it circumvents disclosure requirements. They should all just totally register with SoxTalk and talk about stuff here in a "White House Only" thread. I promise i wouldn't peak.
  14. Here's the latest TP recap. Pretty much I'd agree that officially approving the firings and "not closely involved" are hard positions to reconcile. Also from TP. It's not a national security issue, so Kyle can't be gagged the way they tried to do with others, but will the White House instead try to force their extended view exec priv to former staffers to compel them not to testify?
  15. QUOTE(kyyle23 @ Mar 24, 2007 -> 08:31 AM) Other than that, His dive into the stands in Game 4 is pretty much unbeatable to me, with the final out of the World Series being 1A. ^^^ I also just really like the way Gene Honda says his name.
  16. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 11:11 AM) Sure sign the world is ending, or I'm getting really old . . . I know where the smart money is on that bet. Honestly, I know we're really not that far apart, age-wise. We're both in that group of people who grew up listening to actual LP records and not CDs. Of course, I played my records with a turntable and stylus, and you played yours with a prehistoric bird attached to a victrola like Fred Flintstone used to. . . My Spanish is rusty, is that "The Chicken Place" or "The Crazy Chicken"?
  17. QUOTE(Texsox @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 02:28 PM) Being a fairly new poster here I wonder why anyone actually looks at the time something was posted. I can't think I ever have. That's only new poster relative to the amount of time you have walked this earth, Grandpa.
  18. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 07:35 AM) Let me ask you this. Do you think there was any evidence that the Attorney General broke any laws before the investigation started? If no laws were broken, than what were they investigating? It was an inquiry into whether 8 fired US Attorneys were actually fired for performance-based reasons as officially stated, or for political reasons as some preliminary evidence as well as testimony from the dismissed attorneys suggested. Sounds like an evil Liberal plot to me.
  19. Wow, what a cutie! Congratulations to you and your wife!
  20. QUOTE(kapkomet @ Mar 23, 2007 -> 01:09 AM) Now THAT's insightful!!!! Remember, these Democratic f***tards are trying to do exactly what you're suggesting by screaming SCANDALLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL!!!! every 30 seconds on Capital Hill - they are trying like hell to create a "grassroots" movement. They want it really, really, really bad, and it's clouding their judgement bigtime. Of course, some of us knew this was the climate we were going to get, not the "we want to work on behalf of the American people" bulls*** we were promised before the election. Now that they have the "power" back, they just can't help themselves taking a run at everything they can at the BushCo administration. Do you believe that all of this (US Atty firings and DOJs possible obstruction of justice on multiple fronts) fralls beneath the threshold that would require investigation? Do you believe that the White House's "extraordinary gesture" to answer questions off the record, not under oath, and with no transcript or recording so that they can disavow themselves of anything people thought they said/meant is a reasonable concession? If so, discussion over. If not, what is the appropriate route forward? For 6 years the GOP Congress abdicated any sort of oversight position and let the White House and DOJ do whatever it pleased. But trying to correct that gross negligence in Congress now is the real scandal for you? Seems to me for the first time in a long time, Congress actually is working on behalf of the American people.
  21. QUOTE(RockRaines @ Mar 22, 2007 -> 10:27 PM) The funny thing is that Haggard is very involved in this, before he was busted for buying male prostitutes. To be fair, I think he only bought the one male prostitute. Lots and lots of times.
  22. Seeing him outside the Cell before Game 1 of the WS was stomach-turning enough. But seeing a couple of supposed Sox Fans fall all over themselves to get their picture taken with him was beyond pathetic.
