QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 12:43 PM) Everyone else turned before him, so turning him doesn't get anything except a shorter jail sentence for him unless he can implicate the political guys he dealt with. But I think getting at the Congresspersons and aides who knowingly involved themselves in his corrupt schemes is precisely the point here. Prosecutors won't reveal a final senence until they see how wide a net Jack's cooperation helps them cast.

QUOTE(Steff @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 11:58 AM) A mile down is considered a shallow mine..? I don't know anything about mining, but I would think that's pretty deep? It's not a mile deep vertically. The miners are more than a mile into a shallow mine that runs a long way horizontally. Vertically, they are less than 200 feet from the surface.

QUOTE(WCSox @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 10:55 AM) I didn't feel optimistic last night after the crew they sent in had to turn back because the CO levels were too high. Unless CO is a lot less dense than air (I think it's just the opposite), they probably died from asphyxiation yesterday. CO, N2, and O2 are all in the same ballpark, density-wise. What makes CO the major killer it is is that it preferentially and irreversibly binds to O2 uptake sites on red blood cells. I haven't felt optimistic about this incident since they first reported it.

What I noticed about Sox stuff at Disney World
FlaSoxxJim replied to KeithFranklin's topic in Pale Hose Talk
I can confirm it as well, and it's fantastic. For years I've been about the only one at The Mouse decked out in Sox gear, but when we took the kids in November there was Championship gear on a lot of visitors. my kids and I made sure to give a shout out to every Sox fan we ran across (much to my wife's amusement), and it was a major Sox love-fest! -
He's got his deal and is going to plead guilty to some of the charges just after noon today. The federal charges he's going to cop to will get him no more than 10 years in prison in exchange for his cooperation with investigators. I'm not sure if that would run consecutively or concurrently with the seven years he's looking at from the Florida charges in the SunCruz fiasco. http://abcnews.go.com/Politics/wireStory?id=1465619

QUOTE(Flash Tizzle @ Jan 3, 2006 -> 01:38 AM) This is my guess as well. I suppose the officer interviewed was more willing to believe an outlandish scenario rather than figure out perhaps the old-man forgot he dialed 911. How the hell can you even devise a scenario in which the cat somehow dislodged the phone from it's receiver, dialed 911, then HUNG UP. Attempt to teach the cat anything remotely close to this and it will only lick it's ass and piss on the telephone. Anyone recall the story of the woman from Europe receiving the first facial transplant? The reason behind her injury was due to her dog mauling her face. The women, oddly enough, received the injuries while unconscious due to a suicide attempt. I haven't heard a follow up on the story, but I'm willing to bet the dog mauling her face was its response to knowing the owner was in trouble. That's a smart dog. My first reaction of course was that the story was fanciful as well. But, people have successfully trained cats to do much more difficult things that that (ever see the tightrope-walking and unicycle-riding cats at Mallory Square in Key West?) The fact that te old guy had actually tried to train the cat to do this, and the fact that we're only talking about a single button on speed-dial clearly puts this story in the realm of possibility for me. Also, the cat did not need to hang up the phone, and in fact it probably wouldn't have worked f he did or could. The connection was alive but there was nobodoy responsive at the caller end, which prompted the dispatcher to have it checked out.

So, what is this "Buy a Beer Foundation" all about??

QUOTE(SoxFan101 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 05:02 PM) Ive heard of a cat doing this before. Kind of cool im glad im a cat person Sadly, if it was me that was collapsed on the floor, I know my cats would only rise to the occassion like this if they first checked their food bowls and decided they would run out of food before my wife came home. Otherwise i don't think they'd bother saving me.

QUOTE(Chisoxrd5 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 03:21 PM) Actually it's Tzaziki sauce which is a cucumber and dill sauce ...very yummy. With a little feta on a freshly toasted pita...It is like heaven Hell, I can barely spell in English. I was lucky to even get in the ballpark on a Greek word. I worked at a Gyro joint in Champaign when i was in college and I loved when I got the job of making up that sauce using the big-ass mixer in the back prep room. I don't recall if we used dill in our version, but it wasn't until I started working there when I realized the base of the sauce was yogurt and not sour cream. I fired up a kick-ass saganaki too!

QUOTE(Rex Kickass @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 11:01 AM) When in Germany, stop by your favorite turkish food stand and get a Doner Kebap. Its like a gyros but turkish. flat sandwich with more veggies. Yum! Make sure to get a Kokalosh to go with it.

QUOTE(soxman352000 @ Jan 2, 2006 -> 01:33 AM) Gyros with cheese? Yuck! Gyros wth cucumber sauce and onions. I love Gyros No, with FETA, as already stated, is awesome. There was a corner gyro joint in Greek Town back when I was in high school that, when you would ask for extra zatsiki (the cucumber sauce), the counter guy would shout out to the cook in the back, "One Gyro on a pita, EXTRA JIZZ!"

QUOTE(WCSox @ Dec 30, 2005 -> 09:36 PM) Well, I'm happily married, vounteer through my church, and donate to charity on a regular basis. And I'll go out on a limb and say that I probably make less money than you. I guess that socialists and liberals really don't know much about hard-working conservatives. You keep volunteering, spending time with your family, and thinking that you're a better person than me. I'll do the former two and put in the extra hours at work as well. Apparently thinking you're better than others is something to be exclusively enjoyed by you. For what it's worth, I lie on the couch all day eating bon-bons and watching soap operas while waiting for that fat welfare check and those sweet foodstamps to magically show up in my mailbox every week. I trade foodstamps for crack with the dope dealer in the unit next to mine in my b****in' rent-controlled Section 8 housing. For fun I beat my nine illigitimate kids on a daily basis as well. America, what a country.

Dang, for a minute I thought it was YOU getting married, PA. Have you set a date, btw? And I agree with the no-Friday-weddings crowd. Friday is for the bachelor/bachelorette parties, so that there is a very real chance of one or the other being passed out and missing their wedding.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 10:50 AM) Yep. I don't give a s*** at all. You got me all figured out. IMPEACH BILL (10 years revisited), that's my motto.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 24, 2005 -> 05:56 AM) Yup. And that's the best you can hope for to get the "power" back. Can't win an election? Impeach the whole executive branch. Because I think that's exactly how it works alright. Impeach Bush and put in the guy I want. If he has committed impeachable offenses, I for one want to know that and want Congress to consider that. You would rather not know – or worse still, you don't care.

QUOTE(kapkomet @ Dec 23, 2005 -> 09:40 PM) If Iraq is stable and a lot of the troops come home, there's not a lot (right now) that's wrong. That can change in about 5 seconds with another act of terror. Or an impeachment.
