  1. If they can get this deal, my Gavin Sheets mancrush can be placed on hold.
  2. Would you accept a Kimbrel trade for Segura and a Chris Taylor signing with Sheets/Taylor/Vaughn/Engel platoon in RF if it means another cheap controllable reliever and a slightly better SP? I think that's all I can hope for at this point, I'll probably get nothing and like it.
  3. Very curious to see how his market shakes out.
  4. I'm a troll at heart.
  5. Right, I'm advocating for Joc because I don't think Conforto is realistic or in the Sox plans and I think you can get his production for way cheaper, that's been my point all day. I think we're in clear agreement here on the needs and an improved RF defender would be great. I'm wearing my Rick Hahn hat here searching for ways to improve this team without spending in what appears to be a wild FA market.
  6. You mean like sending your best LH power hitter to Charlotte on a team desperate for LH power hitters?
  7. accidentally put RHP, edited to fix to LHP.
  8. I just don't believe Conforto is the dude you think he is. He's a platoon player that has career Adam Eaton numbers vs LHP, not the kind of guy you give the first $100M deal to in franchise history. I've never contended that Sheets is the long term answer in RF, I contend that you can fix RF for next season without overpaying for Conforto. If you can get Conforto on a short term deal then go for it, long term terrifies me.
  9. Check the numbers.
  10. Which is why I hate to deal him now.
  11. I contend that Gavin Sheets is currently a better hitter vs RHP than Michael Conforto.
  12. Well there are, it just means Vaughn and Sheets platoon or get traded, which I'm not an advocate for as I'm high on both as long term pieces.
  13. I'm not sure why everybody wants to give Conforto (who I believe is Nick Swisher 2.0) $100M+ but writes off Joc as bargain bin trash. There aren't enough ABs available on this team for Conforto and Joc can likely be had for next to nothing and can provide near Conforto production. 1-2 year deal gives you time to see on Cespedes and Colas. If I thought Conforto puts us over the top then I say go for it, I just don't think he does. Sure he's the best FA RF on the market, but I doesn't strike me as a game changing talent. Also, I really want to see Gavin Sheets ABs next year and I'm not scared to admit it. Joc + Chris Taylor please.
  14. Call me old fashioned, but locking up half a billion dollars on your middle infield doesn't strike me as a solid plan to build a functional franchise.
  15. Jimmy had RR induced TJS and was out all last year.
  16. Pretty intrigued with Cutch, walked a ton last year.
  17. Agreed, body language was never good, something just felt off the entire time, never looked comfortable.
  18. The Cesar decline was something, I believe the only above .500 team he's ever played for was the 2020 Tribe prior to this year, I wonder if the pressure made him crumble.
  19. If anything was learned from watching Houston and Atlanta it's that depth and matchups matter. I can't wrap my head around a Conforto or Castellanos investment into RF with Cespedes and Colas potential RF in 2023 and beyond knowing how the Sox operate. If they do, it's clear indication that they don't view Cespedes as a viable every day player. That being said, what's it going to take for the Royals to trade us Whit? Per MLB Trade Values rankings a package of Burger, Dalquist and Kath gets it done. Trade for Whit, sign Starling Marte to play RF with Vaughn and Sheets mixing in. Marte has never played RF but seems athletic enough to make an easy transition and gives you a legit CF option to spell Robert and keep his legs fresh and can also play a plus LF. Whit gives you even more flexibility with his RF versatility and gives a decent replacement for Nick's contact ability. If Whit isn't possible, sign Chris Taylor to play 2B every day, get a huge lead in the central, deal for the best LHH OF available at the trade deadline and make a run.
  20. I am down with this approach and think it's the right move. Dominate the central in the first half then add whatever pieces at the deadline are needed to make a DEEP run.
  21. Anybody thinking Lance Lynn is going to start taking physical fitness seriously in his age 35 season after signing the final contract of his career is fucking nuts.
  22. I know Jose is going nowhere, and I love Jose. I just want him to accept less playing time and the DH role more often, moving forward.
  23. It removes the logjam at 1B/DH and allows us to field proper major league caliber outfielders.
