QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 6, 2007 -> 09:34 AM) Happy Birthday! I see it's a special 30th birthday... old dude. Hope you have a good day! I plan on celebrating this birthday like I celebrate all holidays, quietly sitting on the trunk of my car drinking a case of malt liquor in the parking lot. Thanks!

Senator Larry Craig convicted of lewd conduct in men's bathroom

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 5, 2007 -> 11:57 PM) I don't think anyone here would call me a GOP apologist, but I agree with much of her blog. Cops in uniform walking in and out of the restroom would have stopped the behavior, did they really need an undercover sting? Shouldn't the cops be detaining anyone with a dark complexion to be certain they aren't terrorists or worse, illegal immigrants? All that does is make another cruisy bathroom somewhere in the airport happen. Arresting people for sex in public will stop sex in public - in general. -

JT puts on a good show. His first solo album was a nice Michael Jackson record. The last one is a great Prince record. Hopefully, like Marilyn Manson he'll do a Bowie record too. Justin Timberlake as the Thin White Duke? Hotness.

QUOTE(Texsox @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 04:05 PM) Great points. Asking for sex in public is different than having sex in public. You don't solicit someone through a wall in a toilet stall if you plan to go to a hotel room. He was soliciting to have sex in the toilet stall. And that's what's illegal about it. -
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Sep 4, 2007 -> 08:58 AM) Exactly right. And so does Mrs. Bill Clinton, which is why she is just as scary. Really? She seems awful pro bidness to my eyes.

It might stop being a story if he didn't keep yelling about being "set up." -
I'm buying it just so 50 cent will retire when he gets out sold. I saw these guys on Judge Maria Lopez. http://nuclearwarrior.com The Most Important Music of All Time In The History of Humanity I Tell You.!

No offense, but snark gets old when there's nothing but apathy behind it. If you see someone you think can make a positive difference you work for it. Even if your candidate doesn't necessarily win, his ideas might. Especially in a primary season.

A couple hours a week would help a lot.

This is why I love slate.com. They had an article explaining how a wide stance would impede your BMs and why that is most likely a lie. Here's your stupid reactionary quote of the day from Montana State Senator Dave Lewis on a blog about protecting forests from forest fires. http://www.sosforests.com/?p=651 It's comment 7 to his own blog post. -
He only got those bands playing at CBGB because he couldn't get an audience for Country and Bluegrass ya know.

Isn't the rumor going down that Nick Hogan was racing a Dodge Viper. And Hulk Hogan was mysteriously instantly there at the scene of the crash? Don't the Hogans own a Dodge Viper? Just sayin...

There are maybe five people on this board who'll get that.

That's the way stuff like this works. If the roles had been reversed and Craig was in the diapers and Vitter was in the stall, the controversy would swirl around Craig and the party leadership would stand by Vitter. Why? Because Craig's resignation affects nothing, Vitter's seat would switch hands. And this wouldn't be different if it was a GOP or a Dem issue. It's the way Washington works, sadly. -

QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Aug 30, 2007 -> 12:55 PM) So...here's a question for folks on a slightly different topic. Why is this arrest a bigger deal than the Senator who was caught on the list of the DC Madam and essentially admitted having visited prostitutes (which I think is probably a much bigger deal in the eyes of the law than the small fine Sen. Craig got)? The honest answer? Vitter's governor is a Democrat, Craig's governor is a Republican. No balance of power movement happens with a Craig resignation. -
QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 03:06 PM) Ladies and Gentlemen, the worst AG in American history.... At least there was a cool song written about her by Anquette.

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 06:27 PM) blue eyes and red hair are natural genetic variations that stand little in the way of evolution. Homosexuality is an aberration that is a period at the end of a genetic sentence, as is any genetic aberration that might limit the evolution and/or continuation of genetic code. This subtle difference is the unfortunate postering of an agenda, just like the hesitancy to call morbidly obese kids exactly that, but instead health professionals are forced to classify all kids over their estimated weight as"over-weight". Obviously no one likes to feel that the way they are is some how weaker than the next person, and I would never discriminate on those grounds and find it wrong that this guy would discriminate based on any genetic differences, aberration or otherwise. Discrimination is discrimination and shouldn't stand. How one arrives at the point where one is the subject of discrimination is a whole different argument. -------------------------------------------- ok, now here's where I talk like a human being and remove myself from the conversation. One of Mrs PA's friends recently came out and I totally ok with his lifestyle and find him to be a joy to be around. However he got to feel and be the way he is doesn't really matter to me. I would defend him against the staunchest objector to his lifestyle and hopefully will engage in some interesting conversations about his life in the future. Whether genetics are the lone culprit or nuturing and social settings had a part as well, the friendship is not defined by the fact that I like women and he likes men. Ok, back to my regularly scheduled mouth-breathing. I think there's a big difference between being a fat ass and being queer. You can change your behavior to not be fat. You can not stop being queer. Even if you stop having any sexual contact, it doesn't suddenly make you heterosexual. Even if you never have that contact to begin with. And that's fine. There's nothing wrong with being queer. Is it abnormal? Yeah, absolutely, but fairly common in the population too. Being a red head is abnormal, there are lots of differences that people have that make them abnormal. It is what it is. What makes someone queer doesn't matter. Treating them with respect does. It's pretty clear that the Senator from Idaho didn't see fit to treat queer people with respect. It's pretty clear that the Senator engages in behavior that makes me think he doesn't respect himself either. It's both kinda sad. -

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 03:41 PM) "but homosexuality is a genetic issue"... so is being overweight, but there are plenty of people with responsible grips on their lives to overcome a propensity for certain ways of life. Everyone wants to see homosexuality put in the "genetic category" because logically it means "I, the receiver of the dna, have no control over it." But this, unfortunately, adds to the argument the fact that many or most genetic abberations are considered negative things...oh except homosexuality and Antonio Alfonseca's sixth finger. You mean like blue eyes? Red hair? Skin pigmentation? -

QUOTE(sox4lifeinPA @ Aug 28, 2007 -> 03:24 PM) Sub-question: So everyone that has some kind of homosexual desire whether acted upon or not is automatically a homosexual and therefore "should come to peace with himself? cos that sounds like a load of crap, to be perfectly honest. There have been accusations swirling around about his sexuality for decades - he was implicated although not sanctioned in the 1982 Congressional Page investigation for starters. Whatever his sexuality may end up being, I hope he comes to terms with it. If he's soliciting sex in a toilet stall in an airport, gets arrested and then denies it, he clearly hasn't come to terms with his sexuality - whatever it may be. -

He voted to allow discrimination in employment based on your sexuality in 1996. The vote to block employment based discrimination failed by one vote. So I can't feel too bad at his embarrassment. I hope he learns to accept who he is and come to peace with himself. And stops acting irresponsibly in bathrooms. You can catch a disease like that. -
Can I just say.... I am lovin the new MIA album. It's like Charles Ives made a pop record.
