UK refuses to share Bin Laden info because...
QUOTE(Alpha Dog @ Jul 29, 2007 -> 09:41 PM) Yes, I will agree that it was poorly written. My intent was to show that due to the way it is written, they make an attempt to put the CIA's unwillingness to promise no torture as Georgie's fault. Half the people who read newspapers as their main source of info tend to believe whatever they read, and often don't get past the first few paragraphs. So Joe London reads this and blames Bush for not having the British cooperate in getting rid of Osama, when in fact, bush had nothing to do with it. The only logic involved is BDS, you know it. Oh, and the policy of rendition was also started by Clinton. I guess georgie just made it famous. I rarely believe the Guardian.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
I don't disagree. I don't think that any candidate should be precluded from the debate process, but I think a debate with almost a dozen people doesn't actually give anyone a terribly good shot to stand out.

Construction started on the Chicago Spire
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 28, 2007 -> 11:40 PM) Any schematics of that one? Where is it going? I havent seen a model but its being built where The Sun-Times offices used to be on the Chicago River.

The truth is though, that if you have 10 people at every debate, you get no real answers to any question.

First Shows on Fox
Weird thing about Yeardley Smith is that every time I saw her actual real life body on TV, she was always a secretary, at least until That '80s Show.

First Shows on Fox
There was Herman's Head for a while in the 90s. With Yeardley Smith!

I remember going to France and watching it there too. That show was all over the place for a couple minutes.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
Ummm, if it weren't for shenanigans in Illinois and Texas, Nixon would have won the Electoral College in 1960. Less than 150,000 popular votes effectively decided the electoral college in 1960, 1976, 2000 and 2004.

First Shows on Fox
If I recall correctly, the original lineup of Fox network programming was Tracey Ullman and Married With Children. followed by Tracey Ullman and Married with Children. They then added two more shows - one was called Open House, later named Duet and I think the Garry Shandling Show? I loved Parker Lewis Can't Lose.

DEM Primaries/Candidates thread
QUOTE(Balta1701 @ Jul 25, 2007 -> 04:38 PM) That wasn't an electoral college issue, that was an issue with the disaster that was Florida's voting system. And the Dems are going to have to learn a lot better how to take advantage of the gaping holes in the voting system security as well as the opponents have before that becomes an issue. You could also make an argument that this was more of an issue of the Supreme Court determining a political solution to override a states rights issue.

Hey, I haven't said anything funny in a while. Gimme a break here. BTW: If Romney wants people to forget about this, he should stop autographing pictures of himself holding the sign with that woman.

Bush tells Miers screw a congressional order and keep quiet!!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 23, 2007 -> 01:26 AM) Like I said, I somewhat buy the "local" thing - but when the Democrat Leaders of Congress basically parrot every stinking talking point of moveon.org (and some other hard left organizations), then right there the disconnect happens. And GP, I'm sorry, but it's just plain naive to think that most of these people are not enamored by the power of Washington. That's why the local stuff is important, but it's not "king" like it used to be - not anymore, unfortunately. I wish it were more like it used to be.,, and again it's both parties. That's part of the problem right now is a lot of these people are NOT accountable at the local levels... not enough anyway. Please tell me how, when people like Pelosi and Reid are saying things like "impeachment is off the table", Democrats are parroting move on and the hard left. Because they aren't. How is it then that impeachment proceedings of the Attorney General haven't started yet given the ample evidence that he perjured himself in front of Congress, and further that he's stressed that he will pretty much not comply with any request Congress makes unless he sees fit?

Bush tells Miers screw a congressional order and keep quiet!!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 22, 2007 -> 03:58 PM) Rex, the bottom line is this. Most people at the local levels just want the government to govern and not play this stupid ass political game. So yes, my point is they do NOT have enough to go on to impeachment at the local levels because of what I just said, but the stupid s***s that are in Washington are led by their fishlines attached to their heads by national level poltical hack organizations (see moveon.org) ... they want Bush impeached so bad they can taste it, so they have their "mock trials" like they did last fall just to appease these idiots. And again, don't think for a minute they wouldn't execute these "mock trials" if they coudln't. They want it bad, but there's not quite enough to go on, which is why the witchhunts continue on and on and on and on and on and on because eventually, they think they can get SOMEONE to trip up on some trivial thing and throw the book at them (see Scooter Libby). Therefore, so do the Dems in Washington because they see that as their ticket to more and more power. I argue that MOST (not all) these blowhards in Washington(in BOTH parties) don't give two micros***s about their local level politics except the 6 months before an election by and large because they get swept up in the disease and cesspool mentality that is Washington DC. Moveon.org does not control the Democratic party. Moveon doesn't even raise a significant amount of money for the party. They provide some manpower, but the truth is - moveon is a much more powerful organization in the eyes of the GOP and Fox News than it is for any Democratic organization. Same with DFA. I will go so far as to say that the Democratic party has changed significantly in the two years since Howard Dean took it over, particularly in the way that it raises money. It raises more money from small donors than it ever has before. As such, it may happen to be more responsive to its members. At least right now, anyway.

Bush tells Miers screw a congressional order and keep quiet!!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 21, 2007 -> 09:36 AM) At the local level, sure, I'll buy it. At the national level? Hell yes it is. If that was the case, the energy behind it Congressionally would be much greater. Successful impeachment comes from the local level actually, and that's where the momentum for anything like that is.

Bush tells Miers screw a congressional order and keep quiet!!
If you think the hard left is the one who runs the Democratic party, you're the one who's naive.
-
Bush tells Miers screw a congressional order and keep quiet!!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 09:36 PM) That's what the Democrats want anyway. Which is what this is about. Actually, no. It is not what the Democrats want. Not the ones in Congress anyway. That's a fight they can't win right now and won't be able to until 2009. Call me naive here, but I think what the Democrats want to do is exercise some oversight and right the balance of power in Washington. Once that's done, then things can actually get accomplished.

Rudy Giuliani has a BIG problem....
Who is this mystical "they?" Obama has admitted to most things - drug use, etc. The worst thing they got on him is a shady land deal. That really derailed Bill Clinton, didn't it? Obama is a smart campaigner. So is Hillary btw. So it'll be interesting to see this race. With Richardson gaining a little steam in early primary states, and starting to ratchet up his campaign, we could see a good four way race by January that will only strengthen the presumptive nominee whoever that might be.

Bush tells Miers screw a congressional order and keep quiet!!
QUOTE(kapkomet @ Jul 20, 2007 -> 11:25 AM) There's more to this then has come out, on both sides. But of course, to die hard leftys, GWB is a boob that needs impeached, and to the die hard rightys, Congress is only doing this to attack attack attack. As is always the case, the truth is somewhere in the middle. I hate our political climate today. It's nothing but a bunch of crap extreme policy. And our current President has left the only oversight option left to congress to be impeachment by the way with this latest executive order.
