  1. I thought you were referring to the state when I saw this thread.
  2. At the risk of flames, I'd like to point out that France also has a large military presence in Afghanistan. As does Germany.
  3. QUOTE(EvilMonkey @ Oct 8, 2005 -> 10:31 AM) They could, but I would bet that the local towns would fight it. While there needs to be a balance between the refinign capacity needed and environmental concerns, not every little snail darter is worth the stopping of a refinery. As for reusing ones that have been closed, they would pose the same permiting hurdles as building a new plant would, unless they only just recently closed. Otherwise, except for the infrastructure, it is still starting at square one. In a lot of cases, that's not true. Alma wanted to keep the refinery open. They needed the work. There are a lot of places where refineries would be welcome in this country. But opposition to a refinery project is a bulls*** excuse for businesses who look to build new refineries. The truth is that the more refineries that are built mean the more supply is available of gas. This lowers prices in the short/medium term and cuts profit margins. Refiners feel they make more money with fewer refineries because its easier for them to control the price of gas. We lost 10% of our gas producing capacity for three weeks in August/September and look what it did to the price of gas. It's still 40 cents higher than it was two months ago - and summer driving season is over! If a refining company can make a dollar a gallon profit on gas wholesale with not enough capacity, why would it make more capacity and make 30 cents a gallon less?
  4. It'd be way funnier if it was like what real blogs were like.... For example: Oh my god, I love nachos!
  5. That's great news that we're winning in Afghanistan.
  6. AJ. Cause he seemed to be a focal point for the series. A key offensively in every game seemingly. Close call though between Tad and Pods and Contreras and Duque.
  7. Companies have been closing refineries rather than building them. There's an empty refinery in Alma, Michigan. Unused. They could reconstruct on that land.
  8. But I think that was one of the worst called games I've ever seen. So many strike threes were NOT called.
  9. QUOTE(ChiSoxyGirl @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 07:27 PM) Two funny snippets of conversations with my advisor: #1 Advisor: My daughter and I went and saw Interpol over the weekend. Me: That's cool. Did you learn a lot of stuff? Advisor: What are you talking about? Me: Like, crime stuff, did you learn a lot about crime over there. Advisor: (looks at me as if retarded) No, not that interpol, it's a band. Me: Oh, I thought it was a European Union thing. Advisor: Well, it kind of is. But we went and saw that band. (awkward silence) Me: Haha, well, I guess you're smarter than me AND cooler than me. Advisor: I'm not smarter than you. But I am cooler than you. #2 In regards to my shockingly excellent performance review Me: Well, "work shall make you free." Advisor: Is that from the Bible? Me: No, it's what was written over the gates as Auswitz. Advisor: That's not a very nice image. You make me laugh. I got hit on yesterday. It went like this. "You'd look good in a pair of chaps and bent over a horse."
  10. QUOTE(Mercy! @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:13 PM) Alright, now, there we go again. My turn to be caught in the “too many Rex’s around here” morass. I thought that Mr. Kickass was simply ignoring my question about his fetish, er, interest in strong, attractive older women. But I see that you are not he, so there is still hope that this matter will be clarified. Or not. I don't really have a thing for Mary Kay. I remember she started in politics when I was in first or second grade! She really is a nice person, though.
  11. http://abcnews.go.com/US/story?id=1190231 Possibly 19 IEDs planned for the Subway system.
  12. You think Rove will be a caged bird who sings? If so, this could be a very bad time for this country. I hope that there is just smoke, no fire. But frankly, I doubt it.
  13. CNN is connecting it to a raid in Baghdad yesterday.
  14. Fox News says its 19 briefcase bombs. Nobody else has said that. Kinda creepy.
  15. A passport is not a visa.
  16. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 01:57 PM) I can't argue with you there... So when are you returning to the craphole by the Lake again, so we can tip a few? Around xmas time most likely
  17. QUOTE(southsider2k5 @ Oct 6, 2005 -> 11:16 AM) The problem is someone needs to wake the town up. No one cares, not even the people with kids in school there. Its rather sad actually. Someone needs to wake the country up. So much of our daily lives are at critical juncture and most people don't know and don't care. Sad, really.
  18. MCAS was a school system with such potential and they've done nothing but piss it away. And they have talented teachers who seem handcuffed quite a bit. It's one of the few school districts where a strike might do well for the system in the medium/long term.
  19. Take it for what its worth, but the 2005 Chicago White Sox DO have the Rex Kickass seal of approval.
  20. Congrats on that committee dealy. How did you score that?
  21. NUVO i believe is the alternative press weekly in Indianapolis. It was briefly printed at The News-Dispatch press in Michigan City. Now the N-D isn't even printed at the The News Dispatch press in Michigan City.
  22. That is generally understood. Although Mary Kay Budak is a nice gal. If I were an older man, I might even say she has gams from here to ya-ya. But I'm not so I won't.
