I like em this way alot because they are simple and low-bandwidth. It helps those of us whod ont have high speed
-
plus theyre being cheap with buerhle, the only good pitcher we have. f*** YOU JR

Ive been watchign this guy for a coupl eyears now and i like him alot. He has better than average power and hitting, and has good speed on the bases, which we desperatley need. Remeber what Lofton did to our offense before he started sucking. We were unstoppable
-
I think if we traded him in an Ortiz deal, it would be a good deal. He just came off a career year, in which he really tailed off in the end of the season. This means we could get alot for him. It would also be good because as we know, thomas wants to play some first. I think if Frank is happy and is motivated and in good shape like he says he is, he will have his best season since 99. I think we would miss more of Konerko's leadership than his offensive production. Just my humble opinion...

i thoughe he was supposed to be "really good" this guy looks like a has been

what are his strengths and weaknesses

Vazquez is an excellent pitcher who needs to get the hell out of montreal, like how hampton needed to get out of colorado and weaver had to get out of detroit. Id love to have you

do the A's have a good farm system?

Ray Durham signed with the San Francisco Giants
johndyce replied to mac9001's topic in Pale Hose Talk
This makes me realize how much we could use ray for another year or two at least, give our other dudes time to develop. We probably couldve even used him in the future, with him and willie as the middle of our infield. I wouldve rather got rid of valentine then get rid of durham. I miss you Ray -
I hear JR's already got that in the works

what/who do you guys think need to happen for us to make it the World series in the next could years pitching- we need a consistent, veteran #2 ( moyer!!), and keep developing Garland and Wright and Rauch. I think in 2004 Rauch will finally be a force to rekon with. This will give us an exellent pitching staff. Our bullpen will be young, and they will keep improving to one of the best in the league. defense - Our infield should be solid in the future, with Jimenez, Harris, Konerko and Crede. not spectacular, but good. Our outfield already is good with Maggs and Rowand/Borchards and Lee. hitting - We need to get rid of people we dont need ( Valentine), and keep developing our young guys. Our hitting still is fearsome right now, and can only get better. I think a could of our speed guys need to step it up. Remeber our offense when lofton was lighting it up? we were unstoppable I think pretty much sticking with the guys we got, and getting a good pitcher will put is a great spot to win it all the next couple years

i bet the 2nd player to be named is mark Mulder. i heard him and Billy Boy got in a fight because beane screwed him out of his cookie at lunchtime

Is that thing on the MLB site about Thomas true? Id love to see him come back and them put in the clause, so hed have some incentive to do good next year. In my opinion, if he actually tries hes got several good years left in him, and id like to see him retire a white stocking

hey hot sox chick. I didnt mean anything by this post. i just thought it would be fun with all the rumors around to post a nonsense one. Did you guys hear the one between the Rams and the Dodgers? Freakin Kurt Warner and a first round pick for Orel Hercheiser and 23 minor League players to be later named. Now thats a Blockbuster!!!
-
i heard we were trading McDowell and Sirotka for Vicente Padilla and John Kruk. I also heard one involving Shoeless Joe for some Hideki Matusi guy, probably not true though

KOCH IS GOOD!!! GOOD GOOD GOOD did I mention he is good?
-
why do we have tons of top prospect closers in our system? relievers dont help us if we dont have s*** starting
-
Did you watch Koch any this year? Ive always liked him from his days at Toronto. He can go extra innnings alot. Plus with the reliever studs we got coming up, he wouldnt even have togo for more then an inning alot of the time. Especially with the 4 closers we will have in the future. As for his reliability, he blows a save once in awhile. But he is still young, and he will fix that with better pitch control. Plus he scares the s*** out of hitters throwig that stinky cheese all over the plate. Even the great closers like smoltz etc blow their saves also So as you can tell I am a big fan of koch

maybe you should prod him with a stick to make sure...

Man think of our lineup in a coupl years with borchard in there and Crede excelling. I think Borchard can truly be one of the dominant power hitters in the league. he definitley has Adam Dunn talent. Correct me if im wrong, but did he hit a homerun in his first MLB at bat? i think i remember watching it but im not sure

Here is what we should do. Trade Foulke, Johnson, and a minor. We should get in return Tim Hudson/Mark Mulder/Barry Zito. This would give us another young ace, and the A's could go and do whatever they want with foulke. What about closer? Use Marte and our other pros for a year while our youth develops. marte did a good job this year, and we have good prospects at the relief pitching spot. This would give us a young talented closer, and young 1 and 2 aces. What do you guys think?
-
In my opinion, as long as KW wouldnt trade one of our stud minors, I am all for Koch. I doubt wether Oakland would do this. I had Koch on my fantasy baseball team this year, so I watched him all the time. He is an excellent, overpowering pitcher with great stuff. Ive seen that SOB throw 100 with a good curve. the thing with Foulke, is he basically had his super-changeup, and when people got used to that he was screwed. koch is a good, raw young guy. I think if he could work on his location a little bit (its not so good), he could be the dominating closer in the majors. Oh and think of this. Buerhle throwing all of his junk in the trunk and changeups, then here comes koch with 100+ mph fastball and throwing chin music with it. he would be unhittable but knowing KW, hell trade borchard, Rauch, almonte, Joe Valentine, and our first round picks for the next 15 years for him.

Do you think Borchard will get to see alot of playing time next year? If it was me I'd trade Carlos Lee and someone else for Javier Vasquez, and just start Borchard. Theres no better way to learn than to play
