  1. If Tampa would take Dye for Crawford, that's a slam dunk. But last I heard, Tampa wants MLB-ready arms locked up under cheap contracts, so that one's not even worth talking about. Crawford will be a huge impact player for the next decade as long as he stays healthy, but Tampa has a history of getting teams to overpay in trades. Dye for Chone Figgins and Scot Shields, yes--but those are the two players that everyone wants from Anaheim, so I don't know if Dye could bring both of them back.
  2. QUOTE(WSoxMatt @ Jun 2, 2007 -> 12:24 PM) What is Ozzie supposed to do...Kenny gives him the arms and Ozzie has to work with them...Count had 105 pitches, he was done...who ids he supposed to bring in besides Jenks at this point? I'd have given Thor the ball.
  3. Two of those are MacDougal's. Way to go, Oz.
  4. place your bets, how many 3-0 counts will MacDougal work up to?
  5. MacDougal warming. There goes the ballgame, kids.
  6. QUOTE(FLsouthsider @ Jun 1, 2007 -> 12:33 AM) Dave Gallagher, Ivan Calderon, Freddie Manrique, Bob James, Gene Nelson, Danny Pasqua, Bob Zupzic, Joe Cowley, Steve Lyons, Mike Huff, Charlie Hough, Don Pall, Tony Phillips, Davey Martinez, Dave LaPointe, Ray Searage, Eric King, Jerry Kutzler, Wayne Edwards, Ken Patterson .... OK, I'll stop now. Donn Pall. The Pope. How could I forget? A good South Side boy who grew up a Sox fan. IIRC, he went to Northwestern or some other Chicago area school, and wrote a very funny article for his school paper on the '84 Cubs called 'El Choko.' Sadly, last I checked it was not available on the internet.
  7. QUOTE(CanOfCorn @ May 31, 2007 -> 10:52 AM) I LOVED Granville Waiters. The best 12th man to hardly ever play the game. He was no Quintin Dailey.
  8. We get outplayed, outsmarted, and outmaneuvered every time we play the Twins. They respond and deliver, we don't. Good teams don't roll over like we always seem to against the Twinkies. And not to mention Gardenhire is one of the best in the business.
  9. Can't convert with the bases loaded and one out, just give Oakland the W right now.
  10. The only way I'd say Cubs is if the White Sox were a bottom-dwelling team with nothing else to play for. And since I'm counting on contending for at least a wild card...Yankees. The other thing is that there's only one team in baseball I will always root against and that team is the Yankees. My blood runs a little colder every time I see a Yankee cap.
  11. QUOTE(BainesHOF @ May 12, 2007 -> 09:39 PM) Dog Day is the dumbest promotion of all time. Now I know the Sox get some media attention from it, so it's worth it from their end. But why in the world would a person want to bring their dog to a ballgame? To share the thrill of being in a big crowd and then laying on cold concrete for three hours? Here's an idea...leave your dog at home and bring a friend or a kid to the game. It's ridiculous not to have fireworks for the pregame intro, home runs and victory celebration because some people feel compelled to bring their dog to a ballgame. What's next? Bringing your dog to a restaurant? To church? To the dentist? Dumb, dumb, dumb. It's too bad all the kids and the rest of the fans couldn't enjoy the full Sox game experience because of people who feel compelled to treat their dog like a cute accessory to their own personality. You feel like parading your dog in the company of other like-minded people? Try a dog show. Excuse me if I bring a pack of fireworks to your next dog training class. To each their own, right? I didn't grow up having a dog, and I'm really not all that big on pets, although my sister has two Westies and they're nice enough I wouldn't rule out owning one someday. I work in retail and people bring their dogs in all the time, which is a health code and safety no-no, of course if they're medical assist dogs. Yesterday I saw some woman with a little yappy dog on a regular leash, and the dog was wearing a medical assist vest with a patch. Of course it's not fair to single her out, I live in a whole city full of people who think rules are for everyone else.
  12. I agree. It's sad that someone paid with their life making a poor decision that more people have made than would care to admit. But I'm fairly confident that over 90% of professional working men in this country know their limit and consume alcohol responsibly. Punishing the many for the sake of the one is something that a high school Dean would do. If you want to make an example out of someone, do it on the Furcals and Freels of the world and let the responsible majority be.
  13. I'll be tailgating on Sunday. That's the only date of this series I can make.
  14. How many strike threes are we going to look at tonight?
  15. I'm cleared for Sunday. Will be tailgating. I've got a foursome, have not yet bought tickets. Any Soxtalkers want to join the fun and tailgating?
  16. I haven't picked any up yet, but I'll be part of at least a foursome. Last I checked, StubHub had tickets in pairs or fours for as cheap as $4 per.
