  1. Kussmaul had some sort of finger injury this year, was nothing major despite how much time he missed.
  2. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Aug 26, 2013 -> 03:21 PM) From my visit to the Intimidators game Friday, the game story is up. Includes videos (a bunch), analysis, and some interesting nuggests I got from the Sox scout who happened to be sitting next to me. Videos include: pitchers Kyle Hansen (2) and Storm Throne, position players Cleuluis Rondon, Jacob May, Tim Anderson, Jason Coats and Keon Barnum. Give it a read here, and let's hear your thoughts. Prospect interviews will be in a seperate article soon - it was just too much to cram it all into one post. Thank you for the information.
  3. QUOTE (danman31 @ Aug 11, 2013 -> 11:57 PM) Also, Taylor Thompson had 15 K and 0 BB in 8 innings for Charlotte this year. That's pretty legit. He's on the mound now for the Knights. Ouch, you jinxed the heck out of him there. heh
  4. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jul 26, 2013 -> 05:51 PM) White Sox have a new C at Birmingham, that I don't see any trade info for. Anyone know anything here? http://www.milb.com/milb/stats/stats.jsp?s...&pid=543523 They got him in a transaction from a different AA team, Eastern League I think, Trenton. Not sure we gave up anything, he has been a career backup catcher, never gotten more than 100 or so ABs at any stop.
  5. 8 Barons make all star team, Trayce Thompson is not one of them. Blanke, Semien, Wilkins, Black, Kussmaul, Snodgress, McCully and Erik Johnson. Johnson and Wilkins, of course, have been promoted and will miss the game.
  6. Goldberg promoted from Great Falls to Kanny, Steve Evans was released.
  7. Cory McGinnis released by Bristol, 22nd rounder last year. Kyle McMillen was sent down to Bristol and Alex Powers was promoted to Kanny.
  8. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 27, 2013 -> 07:27 PM) WS Dash has released INF Mark Tracy. Open roster spot at W-S in the infield. Hmmmm.... Tracy was on the DL, so I do not think it opens up a spot yet.
  9. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 05:46 AM) So it sounds like we signed 47 of our 50 picks so far? With Wolfie Tash possibly in the mix still? Wow, that's damn impressive. 37 of 40, do not go 50 rounds any more.
  10. QUOTE (oldsox @ Jun 26, 2013 -> 12:02 PM) What happened to Ryan Kussmaul at B-ham? Hasn't played in about 3 weeks. He went on their DL, never heard what it was.
  11. QUOTE (Dunt @ Jun 25, 2013 -> 12:06 AM) Am I reading this right? Did Anderson steal home? No, he tripled first time up, 2nd time up he was HBP and stole a base.
  12. Ian Gardeck siting in the Kannapolis game, he was an 8th rounder of ours in 2011 or 2010.
  13. Bryan Blough has quietly turned his year around and looking like a nice pitcher of late.
  14. QUOTE (danman31 @ Jun 21, 2013 -> 01:45 AM) Good catches on all 3. I just noticed Mosier and Toney last night myself. It's a shame about Mosier because the guy was drafted out of high school and missed out on the chance to play college baseball for two summers of pro ball. Moran was hurt last year with Tommy John (pretty sure) and I'm not sure he fully recovered. Odds are very high it's injury related with him. Thanks. I also have never found where Luis Castillo is, he is one of our Latin America signees, not in the DSL or either of the two entry teams, Bristol and Great Falls. But I am not surprised, likely just working out in Arizona or something?
  15. Kanny sent a few guys down to Great Falls and Bristol to make room for the draftees they are getting. Great Falls has a complete roster out there now. I had a list of 3 guys unaccounted for, but saw Bryce Mosier, C, was released. I also found Zach Toney appears to have retired (he had a nice season last year too). The only guy I have no idea on is Kevin Moran. Assuming he is out with arm surgery or something.
  16. Joey Wagman, pick #17, must have signed, he is assigned to Great Falls.
  17. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 15, 2013 -> 05:29 PM) So we are missing two signings on the Soxtalk Big Board. Daryl Van Schouwen ‏@CST_soxvan 8m White Sox announce signings of top 11 picks, 27 picks overall. I thought Shryock signed, but maybe just was talking about it. If he had signed, you would think they would have said Top 12 signed, and not just top 11.
  18. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 03:23 PM) That's Mike Recchia. SS2K5's post you quoted was for Jacob Sanchez. Don't I feel stupid, I saw Kannapolis signed Recchia and assumed that is the guy in his link. Sorry about that, really a dumb move.
  19. QUOTE (NorthSideSox72 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 02:34 PM) I don't see anything saying he was in the minors. He pitched in the Frontier (Independent) in 2012 and now 2013, but I don't see anything else. Where are you seeing this? http://www.baseball-reference.com/minors/p...id=recchi001mic Signed by the Baltimore Orioles as a Minor League free agent on Jan. 7, 2013. ... Signed by the New York Yankees as a non-drafted free agent on June 16, 2010.
  20. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 14, 2013 -> 01:42 PM) White Sox sign a guy from the independent leagues... http://www.ivpressonline.com/sports/ivp-ba...0,6036238.story He had real nice stats in the couple years he spent in the minors, as a reliever, then he had really nice stats as a starter in the Frontier League.
  21. Baseball America shows us as signing Nick Parent, 1Bman. Son of our bench coach??
  22. QUOTE (DirtySox @ Jun 10, 2013 -> 11:30 PM) http://www.milb.com/scoreboard/index.jsp?c...mp;ymd=20130610 Hawkins with a homer in his first AB. Jaye on the mound. Wow, he has been an entirely different player since coming back. I am impressed.
  23. QUOTE (southsider2k5 @ Jun 9, 2013 -> 04:18 PM) I'll bet it is someone from the White Sox academy again This Ro Coleman is from Simeon Career Academy, and I see in Round 33 the Mariners drafted Corey Ray from Simeon Academy. Notice one has Career in the name of Academy and the other does not. Anyone know the difference in the schools? I assume Ray is from the one that has the good baseball and basketball teams year in and year out.
  24. QUOTE (winninguglyin83 @ Jun 8, 2013 -> 12:43 AM) First three guys hit safely against Zimmer -- and then Hawkins delivers a two-run double. Five hits and five runs. Zimmer leaves after 2/3. A double and a triple now.
  25. QUOTE (Chilihead90 @ Jun 6, 2013 -> 05:23 AM) Ok, but the REST of his game wasn't the point. The conversation was about Micah's apparently bad defense in the IF. You told the story of Derek Jeter being a terrible defender in the minors, and in your opinion, he turned his defense around to be one of the best defensive SS ever (according to the media/uninformed). My point was that using Jeter as an example of a best-case-scenario for Micah isn't a comforting one, because in reality Jeter was a s***-defensive SS his whole career. Yes, yes, one of the best OFFENSIVE SS to ever play, I'll agree w/ that, but the defense was the topic of discussion here. OK, my intent was not to call Jeter a great defensive SS initially, I was just pointing out that a guy could make a ton of errors early on and still stay in a position for the rest of his career. I did not do a good job of saying that. And I apologize for going off track to defend Jeter, but you guys are correct that he was not an above average defensive SS. So, a SS can make 50 errors and can turn out to be a decent SS, many of those early errors are also attributed to the field conditions in lower leagues. But to me, no way a 2Bman should be making 18 errors by now. Not sure how many are throwing errors, and those are really terrible if happening already at 2B, unless on occasions of making a great play and trying to hurry a throw. Now watch me be totally wrong and the guy turns out to be a good 2Bman. But I still say just move him, and the sooner the better. Just my opinion.
