Austin Meadows traded to the Tigers
Jack Parkman replied to maxjusttyped's topic in The Diamond Club
I used to be able to enjoy my teams, even when they were bad. I haven't been able to do that in a while. -

Gio dfa'd? hahahaha I'm the guy that said he's going to shove this year. And yes, If Vaughn was on the Twins I'd think he'd be the next Frank Thomas hahaha. I think Robert is going to hit 40 bombs too. -

Because if I am not wanted on the board, and people think I only drag it down, I don't want to be here. -

That's unfair. I don't think most people thought I was a terrible poster until a few years ago. I think it got really bad in 2020. -
Maybe I should have my head examined because I expected both Moncada and Kopech to put up that kind of WAR each with the Sox. Was very high on both playputers. I thought Kopech could put up 27 WAR in his time with the Sox by himself if he stayed healthy(he hasn't)

Yes. Either they're serious about winning a championship or they're not. -

I was hoping they'd address RF and SP before the bullpen. They needed one arm, and a bunch of cheap signings in the pen before Crochet got injured. -

It's funny because it's true. lol. Parkman when looking at the other 29 rosters: Parkman when looking at the Sox roster: -

All of the above were needs. -

Think about what happened with the Sox from 2018 to 2019. Not impossible for those teams. -

Also Joe Ryan with the Twins. -

It's not just Torkelson and Witt. The Royals and Tigers have some promising arms that have already reached the majors. Skubal, Mize, Singer are just a few. The Twins have this guy they're going to start named Jhoan Duran and he throws 100 mph. Joe Ryan is a decent pitching prospect as well. Both will be starting with the Twins. -

No, see my edit. It could be ok, but there are a lot of pitfalls and I don't think that the other four teams in the division are as far behind the Sox as most think. -

Making half his starts in Comerica helps. This could be the most disappointing Sox season since 1995. I'm really nervous about the young talent the Tigers and Royals have, the Twins are no slouches and the Guardians can really pitch. This is NOT 2021. -

Do not sleep on Tarik Skubal this year....dude is nasty. -
Same. The Sox got their best players elsewhere, whether with signing Robert or other trades.

We cannot take the idea that the Sox are going to win the division for granted. Every team in the ALC is capable of winning 82-85 games, with the right breaks in player development. The Sox have the highest ceiling but no ALC game will be a cakewalk this year. -
Yep. Kopech has been just as injured as Sale has since 2018.

It was disappointing that he's not the same player. I wouldn't call myself a huge fan of his anymore. I was a huge fan of the tools that he had until he got covid. The 2019 guy was so exciting and he was just scratching the surface. 4.5 fWAR is 4.5 fWAR. He had a very good season. Is it ok to be disappointed that the guy I thought was going to win MVPs and put up 30/30 seasons is gone because of an infectious disease that didn't exist 4 years ago? At this point, I just want him to keep putting up quiet 4+ fWAR seasons. Do any of you baseball types know anything about defensive stats btw? I'd like to know why UZR 150 loves Moncada's defense while OAA hates it.
-
I'm disappointed that the 2019 guy is gone. It sucks. Very content with the 2021 guy. Concerned about just how bad his spring has been.
-
I complain because he looks like someone who would struggle to break the Mendoza line in Charlotte right now. I'm concerned. Is that ok? He could still be fine, but his ST is stuff of nightmares. 15K/1BB and 0 XBH.
-
I defended him last year. I've accepted 2019 Moncada is gone. Last season I had some hope that guy was still there. It's disappointing, but 2021 Moncada is still a very good, above average player.
-
Some people think WAR is a useless stat. They see .260 with 14 HR. Can't help those people
-
That's a matter of opinion, as much as we'd like to disagree.
-
And I defended him. This is the thing: he was the centerpiece of the Sale trade and the #1 prospect in baseball at one time. People expected superstar and they got very good. When Superstar is the expectation, very good is disappointing to some.
