All rage "everyone sucks" like Randy Quaid from Major League aside, all we can do is hope that the offense comes around. If it doesn't, hopefully someone gets held accountable. It probably won't be TLR or Hahn though. Instead, they'll cut payroll by trading the players that were good. -

"Always try to finish in 2nd place. You give your fans the carrot. There's always one more step to take" -paraphrasing Jerry Reinsdorf to David Samson. Jerry wants fans engaged but he doesn't want to spend enough to win. -

He wasn't in the lineup tonight. He should play until either he cools off or is exposed. -

I, like you still have hope for Moncada/Robert. But that hope is diminishing by the day. -

Yep, so if you make the assumption that Yermin has filled in nicely for Eloy at DH so far, then it's possible they'd be bad regardless of Eloy's injury. -

Anderson and Engel aren't going to save this lineup. It's complete dogshit. (right now) -

You know, covid affecting Moncada and altering his career trajectory and him sucking are not mutually exclusive thoughts. -

Why is nobody talking about Abreu, Grandal and Robert also being dogshit? Let's be real, nobody in this lineup is an MLB caliber hitter right now except Eaton. The entire lineup outside of Eaton belongs in Charlotte. -

I'm not saying that necessarily, but it can't be dismissed. We fans will probably never know for sure. -

Do you know about brain fog and other things related to covid long haul? My hypothesis is that he's pulling off because he can't get there anymore. -

You know, everyone reacts differently to that disease? Freeman might have been really sick early, but he recovered more quickly than everyone else. Moncada had long haul. Apples and Oranges. -

It's a legit excuse. Moncada had elite exit velocity in 2018 and 2019 and he doesn't anymore. That could be covid related. It could have taken some of the bat speed away that he'll never get back. Moncada in 2018 had a max EV over 113 mph even while sucking that year, and in 2019 it was over 115 mph. He hasn't hit a ball over 110 mph since. It's hard to say he's back until he starts hitting 113+ mph off the bat again. If he doesn't it's fair to say that covid altered his career trajectory because you just don't lose the ability to pulverize baseballs like that in your mid-20s. -

Even though I defended Moncada earlier, let's be real. They both suck. -

At least the Bears went from bad to mediocre. The Sox have gone from good to god awful in a year and a half. Hahn bet on one good year to year and a half from a lot of players. It backfired. It would have been nice if those guys hadn't had mirage seasons to get everyone's hopes up. Listen, I defended Moncada a bit but that doesn't change the fact that he's been awful since he got covid. It seems to have sapped a bit of his bat speed, and I'm not sure he'll ever be the same player. Go figure that it's the Sox that would have the one guy that has his career trajectory altered by catching covid. -

I think the hypothesis that they told him to throttle it back to 96-98 is correct. I think that's where he will work as a starter. However, he needs to try a new grip on his change because 97-98 to 91-92 isn't going to cut it for velocity difference. -

No it wasn't. you have it backwards. I was watching the AB. Pitches 1 and 3 were on the outside corner. Pitch 2 was low and in. That's the view from behind home plate. The right hand side is the LH batter's box. Then you have to take into account how good Bieber's curveball is. Nobody's doing anything with those pitches. -

That was the low and in breaking ball that you just said wasn't a perfect pitch. -

Have you watched the location of the pitches he's swinging at? Yeah, a few times he's watched strikes down the middle of the plate but for the most part he's had nothing to hit all season. He's just getting aced. I can count the number of pitches he's had to hit all season on two hands. Can't expect someone to hit when pitchers aren't making mistakes against them. -

I'm coming back for a moment in defense of Moncada...... He's had very few pitches to hit this year. Maybe 5 the whole season...... I went back to gameday to look at his 5 k game vs the Angels-he had one pitch that wasn't a perfect pitcher's pitch that whole night The last at bat-strike one and two were perfect pitches....what's he going to do there? Seriously......what's he going to do with this? those are 3 perfect pitches and a curveball in the dirt. Go look at his batted ball data on Baseball Savant, and it's similar to 2019. Not quite as good, but similar. I think he'll come around eventually. -
I'm leaving the site for a while, so I don't want anyone to think that I'm dead or anything. Idk if I'll ever return. Bye.
-
Bye guys. See you when DK has another QS W or the ASB, whichever comes first.
-
Sorry for cursing Keuchel guys. I might ban myself until DK gets a QS and a W.
-
Moncada's just getting aced tonight. Not getting anything to hit. Take your ofer and grab some bench.
